  1. It’s a bit frustrating to see us dominate possession and not come away with all three points. Tranmere’s defence was really solid, but we had enough chances to win the game. Bass was fantastic in goal, making key saves when it mattered. Our debutants showed promise, and there’s definitely potential in this squad. What we desperately need now is a goal scorer who can capitalise on all these chances. I’m optimistic about our season given how we played today, but we can’t afford to drop points in games where we dominate so much. Here’s hoping the next match sees us more clinical in front of goal
  2. Two key players, Aaron Nemane and Macaulay Langstaff, have been sold. Both were firm favourites. I hope the decision to let Nemane go and bring in Conor Grant ends up being a smart one. I wouldn’t have made the exchange myself. I think Nemane’s brilliance going forward outweighs his weakness in defending. At least we still have Jodi Jones. However, I expect him to play deeper and as a wing-back now.
  3. Cedwyn Scott's transition from an out-and-out striker to an attacking midfielder could be a game-changer for Notts County this season. Despite the challenges he faced with a severe injury, his dedication to rehabilitation and the team is nothing short of inspiring. His readiness to accept the number 9 shirt, a number with significant pressure and history, speaks volumes about his character and ambition. With the departure of Langstaff, Scott's willingness to fill in and his positive mindset will surely inspire the squad. Here’s hoping his optimism translates to the pitch and brings about a successful season for the Magpies.
  4. I’m always very optimistic about the first game of the season. Tranmere will be a good test, and both teams have strengthened a lot since we last played each other. I’m glad we focused on fixing the defensive issues. I’m still hopeful that we sign one or two players, but I do think we have a good squad as long as no key players get injured. There’s certainly depth, and I think most of the nine signings make Notts stronger as a team.
  5. How Do You See This New Season Going For Notts? I think the squad is perfectly adequate for doing well. Much will depend on fitness, luck with avoiding injuries, form, and if Stuart Maynard can get Notts winning under him. I do think we have the quality in the right areas to push for promotion. What Do You Expect From The Team? I just want the squad to work hard and cut out simple mistakes. If we lose, which will happen, it’s better to lose having tried than to gift results away. All we can ask is that they work hard and try. And What Will Be Notts Final Position in the League 2 Table? I’m going to say 7th. I think playoffs is a respectable assumption.
  6. I suppose down the line the decision could always be reversed. Not that I see it happening, but for those who collect them or enjoy reading the content before kick-off/half-time, they will look like stooges worrying about the league table, pulling their phones out and staring into them.
  7. Notts’ attacking prowess combined with their defensive improvements should indeed make them strong contenders in League Two. It’s great to see the team evolving and becoming more competitive. As for Port Vale, George Byers’ move is certainly a testament to Moore’s influence. If they can gel quickly, they have a good chance of bouncing back to League 1. Stockley’s goal-scoring ability will be crucial for them. However, their poor form in 2024 is a concern and it might take some time for them to regain their confidence and consistency.
  8. Gillingham MK Dons Notts -- Doncaster Tranmere Swindon Carlisle Relegation Bromley Harrogate
  9. Both kits are perfectly fine in colour and design, but neither are really to my preference. This doesn’t mean I think they are bad kits. I think both seem to have been inspired by previous away shirts. It’s also pleasing to see Notts return to the orange shirt. The purple/blue shirt is the nicest of the two.
  10. I think it’s the first time I’ve read something where the EFL hasn’t made the fans suffer for the actions of others higher up. If Paul Conway and Chien Lee were involved still, it might be different, but fines are sufficient in this case.
  11. I am pleased to read that The Nest will be open for our away games. This should help the club attract fans who cannot attend in person, giving the fan base a sense of community when games are streamed. It’s a smart decision by Notts, but I hope the venue can still be used for Premier League visitors who come to our neighbours.
  12. I don’t know who is fully fit, but I think the starting 11 will be strong. Our bench should have some depth, although I think a signing or two wouldn’t go amiss. It will be nice to see some of the young players given a chance if it can be afforded. Tranmere can be a good team, or they can be terrible. One thing is certain, they will give you a game. With it being the opening game, I think the outcome will be a draw. I just hope Notts don’t concede any soft goals.
  13. Barrow 2-2 Crewe Alexandra Gillingham 1-0 Carlisle United Joker Harrogate Town 1-1 Bromley Salford City 0-2 Port Vale Altrincham 1-1 Woking Boston United 1-3 Rochdale Halifax Town 0-1 Barnet Southend United 0-0 York City
  14. Good insight and set of questions. I agree with the ending summary that the game will be difficult, but both teams will have aspirations for promotion this season, as all teams do. That should make for an exciting game. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Joe.
  15. Colby Bishop is a good lad. It’s been a delight to see him find his feet at Portsmouth. As an ex-Notts player, I always wish him well. I hope his condition doesn’t cause any major issues for him. Best wishes, Bishop.
  16. If we lose, we lose. It’s as simple as that. Whatever team plays, I just hope they give a good account of themselves. Going into the game, I wouldn’t mind seeing a strong lineup on paper, but even that means little. It’s how players perform as a team and individually. So, hopefully, the performance is promising, and we can then focus on what really matters.
  17. Just consider what Scotland did with their hate crime policy. It’s turned things into a mockery and it’s baffling why the police would be so proactive over something typically fabricated. In comparison to real issues like this, I hope that Notts can replenish the goals with ease.
  18. Now that he’s gone, everything else is irrelevant unless news about the deal and its inner workings comes out. We won’t know anything for certain, and it’s all pure speculation. There’s no harm in discussing it, but it’s all hearsay and opinions. @DangerousSausage is correct, we wouldn’t have had much say in the matter and we can’t confirm if there were any release terms. I believe that Macaulay Langstaff requested and wanted the move to happen. He’s performed well in his two-year stint with us, with many memorable moments. It’s a sign that we can nurture talent, make good use of them, and sell them on for a profit.
  19. With the departure of Macaulay Langstaff and now Junior Morias, our striker department is weaker. I’m somewhat disappointed that we let Morias go. If he’s not up to the mark, then his departure should be permanent and a replacement should be brought in. Morias might have had more playing time, but I wouldn’t fault him if he requested the move back to Dagenham & Redbridge. This leaves us in need of a few more players. I’d like another winger to give us more options alongside Jodi Jones. I’m uncertain if we’ll get the same performance from Adam Chicksen as we have in the past, and if the fans’ forum comments about Jones playing further up the field will work out. We’d need someone to cover, as we only have two left-sided wingers. An attacking midfielder would be beneficial, but I don’t think the club will sign many more players who are guaranteed to start or be in close competition for those places.
  20. Unless there are witnesses or evidence, the Nottinghamshire police won’t be able to solve the crime. It’s a senseless act that’s completely unnecessary. I hope the damages can be repaired easily. I understand that’s not the main issue, but it’s unfair for the team to suffer due to the actions of thoughtless individuals.
  21. I’m not opposed to the idea of subscribing, as I believe it’s a crucial aspect. However, I would be more inclined to make occasional donations. My desire is to support PON and ensure its continued growth. I hope it becomes more appealing to members and the number of subscribers rises, which would be delightful to see. Wishing you the best of luck in garnering additional support.
  22. I can’t see why it wouldn’t work out, but I do have the feeling that Luke Williams departed without demonstrating that he could navigate us through a tough period and steer the club back on course. Things were going downhill, and then he left, which had a further impact on the players. There’s no denying that he’s an excellent coach, a good speaker, and motivates the players, so I wouldn’t rule him out. However, I do feel that Notts may have moved on. Williams is largely a positive choice for the position of head coach, so we can’t predict what might happen, and he may be better off after his time away. Whatever the future holds, right now Stuart Maynard is our head coach, and I sincerely hope he succeeds.
  23. This should be a good workout for the squad. Let’s start with the first eleven and make changes as needed to give other players an opportunity. The performance should be satisfactory, and I suspect we might see more trialists. There’s also a possibility that Notts might sign a new player before the game. Playing a friendly against York is a good idea. It will help build some momentum as we head into the season.
  24. Take a firm stance and exclude them from the Olympics, and also consider barring their supporters from attending. There’s absolutely no justifiable reason for causing a riot or creating a fuss after a loss.
  25. At first, I was curious about who Ewan Coleman was. I was slightly let down to find out he’s not a player, but it’s great that the club has hired a kitman. It’s a vital role, and a good kitman can make the players feel well cared for.
