  1. What made Tony Hateley such a great player was his hard-working attitude and how modest he was off the pitch. In those days, players seemed much more grateful to be professional footballers. He also learnt from some of the greatest players! He had two decent feet, was quick and powerful, and had an incredible shot. I remember some of his return towards the end of his career, but he was admired by many people I knew who supported Notts. He also had a great spell with Liverpool, whose fans loved him just as much as we did. A great traditional centre-forward.
  2. It sounds like a good addition. I hope he proves to be a real contender for a starting spot. I know it will be tough with Jodi Jones and Aaron Nemane in the mix, but when form demands it, you hope someone will step up. I think this signing offers that potential. I'm pleased the wingback positions are sorted, so I'm delighted with this signing.
  3. It was a very good match. The Netherlands only had moments of brilliance and a few opportunities, but they never seemed to pose much of a threat. England stepped up their game and performed exceptionally well. It was a thrilling moment to see Ollie Watkins score the winning goal so late in the game. I don’t agree with the commentators that the angle was difficult. It was a fantastic shot and an impressive display of skill to control it for the attempt, but once he was clear, you’d expect it to go in.
  4. I’m not overly concerned about it. These days, squad numbers don’t seem to hold much significance. I’d like to think that someone like Cedwyn Scott would get it, but I can see the club giving it to someone else or leaving it vacant until we find a replacement for Macaulay Langstaff.
  5. Yes, it was a penalty, but I can see why some might think it’s harsh. Most English fans wouldn’t be happy if the roles were reversed, but it’s one of those things. The Netherlands player didn’t touch the ball, and it happened just before Harry Kane managed to take the shot. Even though he seemed to get a clean strike, it was a penalty due to the lateness of the challenge.
  6. Coming through Arsenal’s academy system suggests that he has talent and should be competent in terms of ability. The usual question is how he interacts with other players and how they apply themselves. I have faith in the recruitment team to make the right decision, but the fact that we are conducting trials implies that we may not be entirely confident about them.
  7. If there’s a scientific basis for it, then we should explore ways to make socks less tight rather than resorting to cutting them. It doesn’t seem appropriate for a professional sport.
  8. What a signing he has been for Notts. He has everything to succeed in the Championship. Millwall might be a tough challenge, with their ups and downs, but it's a good signing for them. It's definitely a big loss, but one we should be happy to have witnessed.
  9. Two mixed teams will each get 45 minutes of play, although some players might get less time. I’ll make a decision on the day of the game about whether or not I’ll attend. I believe it should be a good outing for the lads and provide a useful indication of their current fitness levels.
  10. Our defence is getting better. It would have been nice to see Kyle Cameron rise to the challenge, but he’s chosen to move on. I respect his decision. Losing the captaincy might have been tough, but the prospect of not being a regular starter could have been even harder. Some players don’t want to be on the bench or miss matches. This is one of the reasons why I appreciate Adam Chicksen. I’d love to see him regain his form on the left flank for us. I don’t envision him as a regular centre-back, just a backup. So, with Cameron going out on loan, I think it would be wise to sign a new player in the centre-back position. However, we need a right-sided player as we already have enough left-footed defenders.
  11. The only drawback of England’s performance was the limited attempts on goal. From a defensive standpoint, both teams performed admirably. Each team had their moments, with Switzerland being slightly less fortunate. However, when they scored, England responded impressively, taking control and striving to equalise. It was a game of give and take.
  12. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @lucy80. Care to share anything about yourself as a Notts fan?
  13. Hello, @TimB. Are you a lifelong Notts fan? Share your background with us. Welcome to PON!
  14. When you look at the bigger picture, there are more severe incidents that go unpunished. A fine would be more appropriate than a ban, which is too harsh. Regardless, it’s not a good look for him or England. He did the right thing by explaining and apologising, but it seems that these days, apologies don’t carry much weight.
  15. He’s a solid defender with good ball skills. It appears that Sutton is breaking up their team. Bromley should be able to utilise him better. He seems like a promising signing.
  16. Hello, @Pies79. It's good to have you here on PON and to be welcoming you.
  17. Hello, welcome to the community @Bertinez.
  18. Hello, @i961pie. Thanks for joining us and welcome from me.
  19. Imagine if it rained beer instead of water. Some people might have problems, but for those who can handle it responsibly, it would be paradise. It’s quite common these days to throw beer, though I doubt it would happen before a Notts game.
  20. The fan base has achieved something great. The numbers are respectable and exciting. We might see some new or familiar faces joining us. I wish they would announce the number of adults, teens, and children.
  21. Tom Crawford was a beacon of hope for Notts at times. He’s come a long way since his time here. I hope he stays with them for a few more years.
  22. Congratulations on dedicating your time to improve PON by taking on the role of moderators. It’s great to see two familiar faces, @Fan of Big Tone and @Piethagoram, stepping into these roles. Best of luck to both of you.
  23. The new home shirt is charming with its sleek black design, stylish white accents, and modern faded stripes. The tastefully placed Notts County badge, the use of recycled materials, and the overall fantastic design make it a proud wear.
  24. I’m really charmed by the new home shirt! The black design with white accents looks very sleek and stylish. The addition of faded stripes lends it a modern twist that stands out brilliantly. The central placement of the Notts County badge above the Puma logo is very tasteful and adds to the overall elegance. On top of that, knowing it’s made from recycled materials makes me even prouder to wear it. Sustainability should be a priority for all clubs, and Notts County is certainly leading by example. Overall, the design looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see the team wearing it this season.
  25. A fond farewell to Connell Rawlinson. Your service to Notts County has been commendable. You’ve been a significant part of the squad and contributed significantly to our promotion season. Best of luck with the next chapter of your career.
