  1. I haven’t seen the full interview, but I don’t really need to watch it to understand that he has had difficulties. Spurs might not have known completely what Dele Alli was experiencing. It’s normal for people suffering from depression to put on a brave face and the communication between them most likely wasn’t the best. I do feel that more support should have been given, but at least he found that at Everton. I think once he realises his demons don’t control him, his football should return to the standard it was before and hopefully, the experience makes him stronger. Not that I believe depression has made him weak; it does give someone a lot to learn from though.
  2. In my opinion, there are far better audio clips of Charlie Slater, including those with Mak Stallard, than the one where he overdoes his words when Michael Doyle scored his wonder goal. My favourites from the past season, not because Notts gained promotion, but because of the more genuine celebrations and the phrase coined “get in” by Stallard.
  3. I am less bothered about the friendlies from here on, so I hope the plan is to involve the youngsters again. Give the first team the second half, field the youngsters and take off those who struggle in favour of the main players. Give the lads some more time, as they have done well.
  4. It’s good to have all the scholars signed up. I noticed yesterday that the club’s U19s link had gone down, and this makes sense. It’s good to see so many prospects sign, but it’s not enough to stop here. The club needs to encourage first-team professionals to help bring the youngsters through. Find a mentor for Cisse, as he’s class; Aaron Nemane would be a suitable fit.
  5. Excellent article, @Simon Clark! Tranmere does indeed seem like a tantalising away day. A good old-fashioned ground with a great atmosphere. The beer tent gathering sounds like a perfect place to dissect the game and hopefully toast our boys' triumph! Also, I love how you’ve recognised the efforts of the volunteers and workers at Salford. Despite the negative press, it’s touching to hear about the folks who strengthen the spirit of local football.
  6. The defender did well against Forest. Hopefully, he’ll get more game time in friendlies to show his abilities.
  7. Although fixture changes can be frustrating, we must accept them and focus on the positives. The game is winnable with the right approach.
  8. Best Signing: Jodi Jones Highest Goal Scorer: Macaulay Langstaff Most Improved Player of the Season: Richard Brindley Most Starts in the Season: Sam Slocombe Best partnership between two players: Dan Crowley and Macaulay Langstaff
  9. "The applause from the fans" truly resonated with me too. It shows the spirit and bond of the Nottingham community. The fans, with their support and passion are indeed a crucial part of the club. The ability to respectfully acknowledge each other's efforts despite rivalry adds to both teams' charm and of course the saddening loss our city experienced.
  10. Charlie’s commentary of Notts County games has shown his deep understanding of football and connection with the club. He succeeded Colin Slater and has a strong bond with the fans.
  11. In all these years of listening to Charlie commentate Notts County games, I’ve come to appreciate the depth of his understanding of football and his connection with the club. It's not often that one finds a narrator who has such a bond with the fans. He filled the shoes of Colin Slater remarkably well, which is no easy feat. Charlie, you may be leaving the commentator's box, but you will always be 'one of our own'!
  12. This time its proving to be a lot harder, but Sean Newton is one.

  17. Tobi seems to be one of those people who live life to the fullest and are always happy. It’s infectious, and I must admit that I would have written him off if it weren’t for his performance against Forest. He fit well into the system, and if we can consistently get that level of performance from him while carefully managing his injury risk, I believe he will go on to do great things for Notts.
  18. I wouldn’t dwell on the minor mistake; the squad put in a good effort and gave a good account of themselves. I have no regrets about going; I think the young lads did well and will hopefully flourish with more experience. Fair play to Luke Williams for acknowledging that he distracted Kyle Cameron, but it is what it is. There’s no need to dwell on it.
  19. Ian Richardson is a true gentleman. He devoted a lot of his time to the club and its fans. His leadership skills on the pitch were unparalleled. His relationship with the 1998 squad and Sam Allardyce played a significant role in Notts’ push for that record-breaking season. I cannot praise Ian enough for his efforts. As far as I know, everyone loved him, and that’s how it should be. It would be wonderful to see him back at the Lane one day. I remember his uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time. His passion for our club seemed immense and personal.
  20. It was a good interview by Kyle Cameron and David Jackson after a slow news week. It’s nice to read such a good interview.
  21. Whatever happens, I won’t be getting away. I would also like to see Notts give a good account of themselves. Last season the players did well, even with all of Forest’s signings Notts should be more than capable of giving them a game. They might win, but it would be negative to lose in the manner we did against Stoke City. This doesn’t mean I condone the abuse some players receive, but what it does mean is this friendly has higher stakes and the pride warrants the very best the players can give.
  22. I see that he’s been out on loan at this level, which could fulfil the request of many fans for a CB. If he does well, great. If not, at least he wouldn’t be a permanent signing.
  23. I think the issue with online streaming is that everything is instant. When it comes to standard media, you don’t think so much about what you may want to watch as you are used to suggestions and prompts. I only watch the occasional film online; the rest is either on TV or in the form of a DVD.
  24. This isn’t a good thing for the sport and requires swift punishment. Accepting money from outside the club’s structure sounds extremely suspicious and should come with a severe penalty.
  25. Welcome to the site, you should have a good time on PON @Kevin May.
