  1. I’ll be thinking about this for days, but I can’t name anyone at the moment. It’s not easy to come up with a player off the top of my head. I’ll have to keep thinking it over. Salford City being a fairly new club makes it harder to find someone who’s played for both teams.
  2. Salford City are a team I always want Notts to do well against. On paper, I think we’ve got the edge in terms of quality, and the home crowd could really help us see the game through. I expect Salford to want a response after losing their first match, but Notts needs to be smart. I hope Martin Paterson doesn’t make changes just for the sake of it. Newport was a solid start, and I’d like to see the same team given another go if possible.
  3. I understand the idea of wanting to test him at a higher level. George Abbott has joined Wycombe Wanderers, and you could say Riley Reynolds needs that kind of challenge too. But if he can repeat what he did last season at Kidderminster and come back even better, maybe his next move will be to a bigger club. Wishing Riley Reynolds all the best.
  4. He looks like a good addition to the squad. We need someone who can score and step in when needed. Being picked twice for the England Under-19s shows he’s got something about him, there are plenty of young players fighting for that chance. If he settles quickly and makes the most of his minutes, he should gradually work his way into the team. There’s strong competition in midfield, so I’m pleased with the signing.
  5. Someone’s clearly having fun with the squad page. It was stuck for a while and didn’t even include Matthew Dennis. Feels like the person updating it forgot he exists. Kellan Gordon’s been moved into midfield. That’s new. Barry Cotter’s been listed as a defender. Bit unexpected. Milai Perott’s made an appearance, nice to see the youth keeper getting a mention. Jodi Jones has shifted from forwards to midfield. Bit of a change there. New loanee Jayden Luker isn’t listed yet. I get that they’re updating, but it’s a bit of a mess, and quite amusing to watch unfold. https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/teams
  6. Wouldn’t it make more sense to place the troublesome teams closer to the centre of the Jimmy Sirrel Stand, rather than by the rowdier sections? It might help keep tempers in check. Some groups wind each other up too easily when they're side by side. It’s been a long time since I last looked through FourFourTwo. That old 4-4-2 formation isn't seen as fashionable nowadays, but I wouldn’t mind if we gave it another go. It would suit us better if we’re after a more balanced style at times.
  7. Hello and welcome to Pride of Nottingham, @Chedozie. Nice pick with the username! Have a look at the Jimmy Sirrel forum for all the Notts County discussions, and don’t forget to bookmark the dashboard so you can find your way around easily.
  8. Keanan Bennetts strikes me as one of those overlooked players who’ve slipped through the cracks. British clubs don’t always catch wind of their potential, and I hope joining Notts turns out to be a clever move. It’s still early, so hard to judge him from his time at Cardiff. But I do welcome him to Meadow Lane and I’m hopeful he can grow into an important part of our side.
  9. AFC Wimbledon should offer him more chances to play, and in fairness only a really sharp striker would’ve broken through here with the current squad. I doubt he’d have seen much action at Meadow Lane, but I do hope he does well for the Dons, even if they were the ones to knock us out in the playoffs.
  10. Bradford City 2-2 Wycombe Wanderers Doncaster Rovers 1-0 Exeter City Lincoln City 0-1 Reading Plymouth Argyle 1-2 Barnsley Barnet 0-0 Fleetwood Town Cambridge United 1-0 Cheltenham Town Joker Grimsby Town 2-1 Crawley Town Walsall 3-1 Swindon Town

  17. I thought this was about the Crystal Palace situation, when they wrote to the Premier League and basically dropped them in it to get ahead. I’ll skip the Jesus comments, they’ve got no hope anyway once the other Premier League clubs start to turn against Forest because of their behaviour.
  18. I didn’t know about this before, and I can’t see how it’s a good thing. It’s going to be harder for players to find new clubs, and it seems to benefit the teams that get in first. That said, Kevin Nolan does enjoy making excuses. It used to really bother me how he couldn’t just crack on without having a moan. Has anyone else backed Northampton Town to go down this season? I’ve stuck a tenner on it.
  19. I like the new home shirt. The collar could be nicer, but the design is good overall. It’s one of the better shirts we’ve had lately. Since the Reedtz brothers took over, the kits have been well planned. This one has a proper Notts look to it. Still, I’m not sure why the photographer made Nick Tsaroulla look like he’s got pockets. If he did, you’d expect to see a few rival players popping out of them.
  20. Nottinghamshire Live [NEP] isn’t worth paying attention to. It’s outdated and doesn’t come close to the standards that proper papers used to set. The site itself is poor. I never bother with it. I read the official site instead. NEP’s best days are long gone. Now, it’s only there to make money, not to tell people what’s going on.
  21. We have a solid defence, and he seems capable, but I don’t know much about him. I’m pleased he has experience and offers something different. His height is a real asset. I had hoped we might sign someone aged 25 to 27, so we could get several good years from them. By the time his contract ends, he will be 35. With the extra year option, I hope the club is confident he can still be good enough to remain the number one.
  22. There have been times at Meadow Lane when I’ve looked around and wondered about the announced attendance figures. Now and then, it feels like the number given is higher than it should be, especially when compared to other games that looked much busier but seemed to have lower figures.
  23. I think Conor Grant is a very gifted player. Still, we need to start getting more out of him, and that might happen if he’s given a regular spot in the starting line-up, as long as his performances back it up. He’s got a sharp eye for passes, which is impressive for someone still learning the game. If Martin Paterson can help him reach his full potential, I believe more fans will start to see what he brings.
  24. Connie’s father came across as quite unpredictable, but he clearly wanted the best for her and worked hard to help her succeed. His methods might have been intense, but his drive to see her reach the top was strong. I’ve not listened to her music myself, but I’ve got relatives who enjoy playing old records, and her name has come up before. She had a lot of talent and made a big mark in her time. Rest in peace, Connie Francis.
  25. A warm welcome to you @Tommy B! Great to see you on Pride of Nottingham. Don’t be shy, join in, share your thoughts, or kick back and soak it all in. We’re all here to enjoy the game together.
