  4. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, it's a great community here. You will see we are very friendly, and the focus is on good conversations. It's nice to be saying hello to you, @makesha.
  5. Hello, @DublinPie. I believe a couple of active PON members are based in Ireland. Welcome to the community!
  6. Welcome to the community, @roadsider1862. You will see we are a friendly bunch, eager to have good discussions about our beloved Notts County. I am pleased you have joined PON.
  7. I thought this was about the Crystal Palace situation, when they wrote to the Premier League and basically dropped them in it to get ahead. I’ll skip the Jesus comments, they’ve got no hope anyway once the other Premier League clubs start to turn against Forest because of their behaviour.
  8. I didn’t know about this before, and I can’t see how it’s a good thing. It’s going to be harder for players to find new clubs, and it seems to benefit the teams that get in first. That said, Kevin Nolan does enjoy making excuses. It used to really bother me how he couldn’t just crack on without having a moan. Has anyone else backed Northampton Town to go down this season? I’ve stuck a tenner on it.
  9. I like the new home shirt. The collar could be nicer, but the design is good overall. It’s one of the better shirts we’ve had lately. Since the Reedtz brothers took over, the kits have been well planned. This one has a proper Notts look to it. Still, I’m not sure why the photographer made Nick Tsaroulla look like he’s got pockets. If he did, you’d expect to see a few rival players popping out of them.
  10. Nottinghamshire Live [NEP] isn’t worth paying attention to. It’s outdated and doesn’t come close to the standards that proper papers used to set. The site itself is poor. I never bother with it. I read the official site instead. NEP’s best days are long gone. Now, it’s only there to make money, not to tell people what’s going on.
  11. We have a solid defence, and he seems capable, but I don’t know much about him. I’m pleased he has experience and offers something different. His height is a real asset. I had hoped we might sign someone aged 25 to 27, so we could get several good years from them. By the time his contract ends, he will be 35. With the extra year option, I hope the club is confident he can still be good enough to remain the number one.
  12. There have been times at Meadow Lane when I’ve looked around and wondered about the announced attendance figures. Now and then, it feels like the number given is higher than it should be, especially when compared to other games that looked much busier but seemed to have lower figures.
  13. I think Conor Grant is a very gifted player. Still, we need to start getting more out of him, and that might happen if he’s given a regular spot in the starting line-up, as long as his performances back it up. He’s got a sharp eye for passes, which is impressive for someone still learning the game. If Martin Paterson can help him reach his full potential, I believe more fans will start to see what he brings.
  14. Connie’s father came across as quite unpredictable, but he clearly wanted the best for her and worked hard to help her succeed. His methods might have been intense, but his drive to see her reach the top was strong. I’ve not listened to her music myself, but I’ve got relatives who enjoy playing old records, and her name has come up before. She had a lot of talent and made a big mark in her time. Rest in peace, Connie Francis.

  19. You’ve fitted right in on the site and Pride of Nottingham. It’s brilliant having you here with us, and I’m excited to read more of your posts as we go through the rest of pre-season and beyond into the new campaign. It’s always good to see someone jump straight in and get involved. Welcome from me, @theAnticlough!
  20. Hello, @MrWillowTiger. Welcome to the community and PON. It's good to have you with us.
  21. A draw was probably the ideal outcome for both sides. I’ve no idea how Notts performed as I didn’t pay for the stream, but I’m looking forward to the Cardiff pre-season friendly. With trialists on show and the squads being split, it’s not easy to keep momentum, though overall I’d take the draw.
  22. Martin Paterson has hinted at wanting a seasoned goalkeeper since the Alfreton Town match, and now that the German tour is done, it seems more likely we’ll see a move. We need someone solid and experienced between the posts. It’s one of those key positions that can be the difference between promotion and falling short, just like having reliable goal-scorers. Replacing Alex Bass isn’t just important, it’s essential.
  23. Hello, welcome to the community here on PON. It's nice to have you with us, @Triton 61.
  24. I'm all for it, but even independent regulators can be influenced and fall into corruption. It’s vital to make sure that doesn't happen. There must be no chance for them to mislead or mishandle the support meant for clubs.
  25. I used it to bring attention to my blog post, and I’ll look into sharing other things with it too. It’s got loads of uses, and it’d be great to see others make the most of it as well. There's real potential for us to use it more often.
