  1. It may not have been the ideal performance, but what counts is the win! Securing it through penalties made it even more special, despite the added tension. What a fantastic trip to London! The reactions of the players were brilliant.
  2. Fantastic photographs, Chris. There are some truly superb shots in the collection!
  3. I wonder how Luke Williams can resolve the nerves in defence because it hinders the ability to go forward. The deep line becomes a nightmare when teams rush out and put more energy into their play. Chesterfield came out wanting it more and played like they had a point to make. The referee made some questionable decisions, but I think he got the penalty decision correct. Unfortunately for Sam Slocombe, he caused two issues at the very start. He looked nervous and if he remains at the club, this defensive issue needs to be worked on. Good teams will find it easy to exploit this weakness, as Wrexham, Boreham Wood and Chesterfield all did. I thought Aaron Nemane was class, but other players like Adam Chicksen and Sam Austin were average. They didn’t contribute much to the game and I think Luke Williams made the right call by bringing Jodi Jones on quicker than normal because he helped change the outcome. Ruben Rodrigues wasn’t very bright but scored well. Macaulay Langstaff had chances but we didn’t bring him into the game. Cedwyn Scott helped in this regard. People praise John Bostock who was solid going forward but clumsy in key areas defensively. His goal was a redeeming stunner and I won’t dwell too much on the penalty.
  4. There are rumours that Jim O’Brien will be appointed as a coach at Sheffield United. I think it would be wise to keep Connell Rawlinson for another season as he could be useful as a backup defender. It would be good to have a better pairing at the back, but then we would need to find more playing time for Richard Brindley. I prefer him playing out wide, so maybe we could try him as an alternative right wing-back?
  5. Poor Christoffer Reedtz. Notts is really taking its toll on the poor chap. His Danish blonde locks are turning deep brown and his hairline seems to be receding faster than Chesterfield’s penalty takers’ hopes. At this rate, he’ll be balder than a coot before the season’s out!
  6. Ryan Reynolds can have the keys to Meadow Lane. He’ll find them more useful than the ones he and Rob McElhenney were given by Wrexham. He’s a class act who’s shown that football is more than just rivalry. Each comment oozes class. I can’t wait to take six points off his Wrexham next season. Good luck to him and his team, just not against us. After all, we don’t want Deadpool to have all the fun on the pitch!
  7. It could very well be one of the most viewed videos among Notts fans. The story it tells is brilliant and the win was such a crucial one. When Jodi Jones arrived, he mentioned how he wanted to find happiness, as he hadn't been playing much and was eager to get match fit. Now, just look at the difference he's making to our squad! Every time I watch his goal, I can't help but hear Rubeus Hagrid's voice in my head saying "You're a wizard, Jodi!" ????
  8. A big round of applause for you @Piethagoram! You’re always there to provide us PON members with some top-notch discussions. You truly deserve this recognition. And don’t forget to dress to impress for the pitch-side presentation and award ceremony at Wembley tomorrow. We wouldn’t want you to show up in your pajamas now, would we?
  9. I’ll be in block 104 tomorrow and I can’t wait to see Wembley in all its glory. It always looks amazing on TV, but I bet it’s even more magical in person. What a season we’ve had and now we get this final treat! Safe travels to all of you making the journey. And don’t forget your lucky socks!
  10. I’d actually be quite happy to see Curtis Thompson back at Meadow Lane. He’s still got a lot to offer and has a great attacking engine. Sure, it might raise some questions about where he’d fit in the squad, but I seem to recall him being shoved into defense and doing a pretty good job. Versatile players like him are worth their weight in gold when it comes to squad depth.
  11. I don’t think Chesterfield will be too concerned about our previous encounters, just as I believe we wouldn’t be. It’s more on them to want to correct those previous defeats, but at the same time, complacency can become a worrying thing. I am hoping for the best. If any of their players decide to dive like they did last time, the official needs to quickly put a stop to it. It’s important that the game is played fairly and that any unsportsmanlike behavior is dealt with promptly.
  12. @Prodigal Red It would be intriguing to see an occasional post from you on topics that you may be knowledgeable about, like our previous encounters. I am pleased that you’re a wreck, rather than a red dog. It’s lovely to see Wrexham fans wishing our club well. Greetings from me! Welcome to you as well, @Kelly.
  13. I believe it will be challenging to retain Jodi Jones, more so than Ruben Rodrigues, if the club doesn’t achieve promotion via the playoffs on Saturday. I’m uncertain about Ruben’s future and whether he has pre-signed a deal with another club behind the scenes. However, I suspect that more clubs would be interested in Jodi due to his younger age and more consistent performances.
  14. I would appreciate additional support, as anyone who supports the mighty Magpies in their quest for promotion back to the Football League is all that matters. Perhaps Ryan is now a secret supporter of Notts? After all, who wouldn’t be impressed by our stadium, tea ladies and, of course, the new gourmet food van.
  15. I couldn't agree more with Colin's assessment of the match and the electric atmosphere at Meadow Lane. The tension and excitement were palpable, and I also felt a sense of apprehension as I made my way to my seat after the half time break, wondering if our team could pull off a comeback. I share Colin's sentiments about the two turning points in the match, particularly the tactical changes that allowed us to exploit Boreham Wood's defense. Jodi Jones and Cedwyn Scott were both outstanding in the latter stages of the match, and their contributions were crucial in securing our victory. I was also moved by Colin's mention of Jason Turner and how he silently prayed for the team's success. It's a testament to how much Notts County means to its fans, and how we never forget those who have played a part in the club's history. The scenes of celebration at Meadow Lane were unforgettable, and I can relate to Colin's joy at seeing his kids' faces light up with excitement. It's moments like these that make being a football fan so special, and I can't wait to see what the team achieves in the National League Playoff Final against Chesterfield. As Ryan Raynor said, Notts County is more than just a football club - it's a source of joy, excitement, and community for all of us fans. I'm proud to support the Magpies, and I know that win or lose, our team will always have our support.
  16. This seems much harder. I’m guessing it’s Steve Finnan, although I don’t think he made 200 appearances for any of his clubs. Are you counting cup games?
  17. I recall Neal Bishop scoring a goal with his backside after the ball deflected off it. I can’t remember the opposing team, but it occurred when Notts were in League One. Does anyone else remember this? ????
  18. Jodi Jones netting the winner for Notts was a superb moment. It thankfully prevented another lottery that is the penalty shootout. Aden Baldwin's brace and the goal from Jones rescued the win and what scenes followed! The club hasn't been as thrilled as that in decades, if not longer.
  19. If Ryan Reynolds were to attend Wembley to wish Notts County all the best, it would certainly be a kind gesture of support. Despite owning Wrexham, it would demonstrate that he cares about the team and its fans and wants to see them succeed.
  20. It’s purely speculative, but I believe that if Ian Burchnall had stayed on as manager, he wouldn’t have been able to get the best out of the entire squad. For instance, I don’t think Adam Chicksen would have scored double-digit goals. It’s Luke Williams who has drilled into him the importance of making late runs. Similarly, it’s quite possible that Macaulay Langstaff may not have broken his records. Much of his success in scoring goals is tied to the form we’ve seen under Williams. While I think Burchnall would have done well with this squad, I don’t believe for a second that it would have led to a title race. This is where Williams makes all the difference. His mentorship, directness, and high expectations have brought out the best in the squad. His tactics and line-ups are much more cohesive, and the players clearly have better instructions now. It’s all very well thought out. The finer details are things we won’t see, but I believe they’re making a big difference in this squad. I’m 100% convinced that Williams is the difference between an average season, a good season, and a title-challenging season. The way he works with the players seems to be both on a group and individual level. He appears to be very invested in man-management. His in-game process isn’t just a typical routine, although it does have some habits. If games aren’t going according to plan, he’ll try to address it without fear of making a mistake. He doesn’t wait until the 70th minute to make changes like taking off our strikers and bringing on defenders, as was Ian Burchnall’s and Neal Ardley’s habit of settling for a draw.
  21. The graphics and design work shown here are exceptional! I wouldn’t know the first thing about digital art or even Photoshop. I’m still trying to figure out how to use MS Paint!
  22. Welcome @nottsfan81! Buckle up for a wild ride of knowledge and fun!
  23. If every Notts player puts in a good effort and works hard on Sunday, I am confident about the final outcome. The most important factor will be the officials. Notts can score goals, but it is important that the officials make the right decisions. If the game is well-officiated, I have no concerns. However, if the focus is on the officials rather than the game, it may be difficult for Notts to score. I hope it won't be like the Dagenham & Redbridge game.
  24. It’s very kind of @nightOWL to come and wish Notts all the best. Good luck with your own season next year!
  25. Hello @Canadian, welcome back to the community! What are your thoughts on this season? Did you expect the club to be in competition with Wrexham for the title at the start of the season?
