Yeah, that was poor. Wimbledon were better in every department in the first half and deserved their lead. We improved in the second, but still struggled to create chances. With Wimbledon having kept 18 clean sheets, it's not surprising that ahcnes were at a premium, but the two preventable goals in the first half killed us. Jatte and Palmer missed chances to make a game of it later on. Palmer is a key player for us and has many good qualities, but taking corners and free kicks is not one of them. Either we go back to Williamsball and just keep the ball on the ground, or we find someone who can cross the ball. Even if that means sitting Jodi Jones in a chair in the centre circle and letting him get up for the set pieces. This is the time of the season that promotion-winning teams really click into gear and we're a long way from our best form. I think there have been too many changes on and off the pitch and too many injuries, and the chickens are coming home to roost a bit now. However, we're still fifth and well in the mix, even if I don't really fancy us right now.

We have a number of things going on behind the scenes, but from the outside it's questionable whether or to what extent they are affecting happenings on the pitch. I doubt the lack of a DoF has affected things too much. His job now would be to scout players to bring in in the summer; now we've got the squad for the rest of the season, it's up to the coaching team to work with it. I can't help wondering whether the Saunders brothers leaving has had a negative effect. However, we do have a habit of bringing in players with a lengthy injury record, and we were over-reliant on one of them for assists last season. He's now been injured for months, and our top scorer from last season has left. If you couple that with the off-the-pitch departures, we're doing well to still be in the running for the top three. Whatever the truth of it is, we certainly need new faces on and off the pitch in the summer.

A very disappointing and disjointed performance against a poor side. It was plain to see that we had important players missing, and the ones we've signed to bolster the squad haven't properly been bedded in yet. Saturday must be better, otherwise the top three will quickly be out of reach. Gordon was tenacious and the better of the two wingers. If I won a competition to play for Notts, I would stumble around a lot like Edwards did on Tuesday night - he looked a decent signing before his injury and clearly needed the match practice, but I'd have taken him and others off sooner.

Football club finances can look pretty scary. It's worth mentioning that the 1.2 million received in transfer fees came in after the reporting date, so aren't included in the figures for 23-24. They largely offset the loss for the financial year, which itself was largely down to The Nest and a couple of transfer fees. Based on that, I'd assume that we're getting closer to being on an even keel. The loans still make me nervous though!
