  1. Jim is a true hero of Notts County and should be respected as a playing legend. His contributions to the team and the sport will always be remembered and appreciated by fans and players alike.
  2. Other members mentioned turning the audio off and I made sure to do so as well. I watched the game upside down, but the quality of the actual footage was still great. It was a cruise for Notts until Maidstone scored and came right back into it. It would have been a fantastic game to attend! I guess you could say Maidstone really turned the game on its head!
  3. Jimmy in the middle, what a superb result! Great job by the team.
  4. I was really impressed by the quick thinking of the Notts players during the game. Their passing and creativity were top-notch and it was great to see them working together so well. The calibre of the goals they scored was also fantastic. It’s clear that they’re a talented team.
  5. Congratulations to Wrexham on winning the title! Both teams have pushed each other throughout the season and without that close rivalry, it might have been a different story. This season has been incredible and it’s been amazing to see both teams perform at their best.
  6. Congratulations to Wrexham on winning the title! Both teams have pushed each other throughout the season and without that close rivalry, it might have been a different story. I also want to passionately and genuinely praise Ryan Reynolds for his kind comments about Notts. It’s great to see such sportsmanship.
  7. I appreciate Williams’ honesty about the team’s focus on improving their performance for the recent game in Kent. It’s good to hear that they’re not making excuses and are pushing for better. It sounds like he got the response he wanted.
  8. This is another player that I don’t remember. Can you tell me more about him? Who did he play against? What position did he play? @Piethagoram
  9. I’m having trouble remembering the player you’re talking about. I think I recall the signing, but not much else. I’m speculating here, but I thought he was signed to the developmental squad.
  10. It sounds like a thrilling match unfolded between Notts and Maidstone United. To read about them coming away with a resounding 5-1 victory must have been a delight for all involved. Goalkeeper Archie Mair, despite making some crucial saves along the way, he didn't quite managed to keep a clean sheet. All in all though, the team demonstrated true grit and determination to earn themselves three points on the road in their last away game of the National League season. The highlight of the evening undoubtedly belongs to Jim O'Brien, bagging himself a rare hat trick. Heading into injury time, he stepped up to take a penalty which sealed his place in the history books alongside the likes of Mark Stallard and Mark Draper. There has been talk of many standout individual displays on show during this encounter. Ruben Rodrigues provided two assists and put in some dangerous crosses, while Cedwyn Scott returned from injury to make an impressive impact up front and set up one of O'Brien's strikes. Notts must keep focused on their final home next weekend.
  11. It's crucial for lower league clubs to have a strong recruitment strategy. By carefully considering their options and avoiding rushed signings, clubs like Notts County can maximise their playing budget and potentially generate future sales for reinvestment into the squad. Investing in good players not only improves the team's performance but can also lead to a higher resale value when those players are embedded in a positive environment. Notts County's approach to recruitment is commendable and serves as an example for other clubs to follow.
  12. Notts County is a special football club with a rich history. The club had legendary players like Tommy Lawton, Jackie Sewell, and Tom Keetley. In the 1970s and 1980s, we enjoyed some of the best football under Jimmy Sirrel and, other managers beteween. The club has always had strong roots in the community. In 1986, during a difficult financial time for the club, "Life Line" was set up to raise funds. This measure helped save the club and is a testament to the love and support of its fans.
  13. This is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, I can tell that I am too late, but even then I am not sure I would have correctly guessed. There have been a few players who worked in the building trade before making their debut and after retirement.
  14. All Notts can do is go out and win. If Wrexham wins the title, then so be it. For that reason, I hope nobody is focusing too much on that result.
  15. To expand on my previous comment, I would be approximately 4,823 miles away from Meadow Lane. With an ocean separating us, it makes it quite challenging to get there. However, I did manage to take a flight a few seasons ago. It's probably been about 5 or 6 seasons now.
  16. Hello PON members! I'm curious to know, do you have any friends on this site? Were you friends before joining PON or did you become friends because of it? Do you have mates that go to the matches with you? I have a brother back in the UK who doesn't like football. My parents used to attend games every week when they were alive. It used to be a family thing with aunts and cousins, uncles and nephews meeting up. I only know a few fans that still attend on occasions. It would be interesting to see members share their experiences.
  17. I don't think the fans can do much else but give their support. If a fan can't get behind the club at this stage of the season without finding flaws or things to moan about, then they're not interested in Notts County. It's all down to the players believing in themselves and for Luke Williams to build up each player who may be a part of the final push. With Wrexham winning against Yeovil tonight, we won't catch them. It's best if Notts focuses on what is logically achievable as that will yield the best results.
  18. I'm curious to know - what's the furthest you've lived away from Meadow Lane? Where have you lived up until now and how does the place you live compare to where you grew up? I thought it would be interesting to share experiences and let's see how far and wide the Notts fanbase has spread!
  19. There are clearly people who have watched him a lot more than I have from what I've seen in highlights, which doesn't give a full picture. But from what I saw, he looked decent. He was a left-back, right? He probably wouldn't get in ahead of Adam Chicksen, but I thought he had a lot of flair.
  20. This is another excellent discussion filled with heaps of useful information. It's great! Everyone who has posted has given an articulate response which makes it very enjoyable to read. I think you have to take the mix when it comes to things like this. Obviously, nobody wants to lose a good striker, especially after all the woeful ones the club has had, but at the same time it's natural. I think the answer will only be known for sure once events unfold. If you're a glass-half-full person, you may see the benefits. If you're a glass-half-empty person, well, you may be more worried. I think the club is in safe hands, but it would be nice to see Langstaff stick it out for another season.
  21. It sounds like the Wrexham defeat played heavily on the players' minds and caused a bit of a setback in play. Usually, I think a goalless first half isn't anything to be disheartened by. You have two teams in close contention with each other, one of which is desperately trying to secure third place. It sounds as if the win became a lot easier after the first goal went in. It sounds like a good win to me!
  22. I remember when I first heard about it on the radio, it made me feel like life could change in a moment's notice. The horrific scenes are hard to forget. I remember seeing a young fan wearing a woolly hat running for help. Can you imagine being in that situation? My heart goes out to all the victims' families. Justice should have prevailed much sooner.
  23. Oh, this just sounds like something that people in science speculated on as a joke to see if anyone would buy into it. It has that conspiracy theory feeling, just like the idea that the Earth is flat, the Moon is occupied by aliens, and the Earth is hollow.
  24. I obviously can't say what the coverage has been like in the UK, but here in the States it has caused a lot of concern. When the story broke, it was all the news casters would talk about and there were discussions about why anyone would leak it. Naturally, the wrong conclusion that the person was a spy potentially working with Russia was discussed. With Joe Biden's recent visit to Ireland, skeptics were making theories. It has become quite tiresome. When news went live that the suspect had been captured, I thought about how social media is destroying the minds of young people. I actually felt sorry for the lad in some ways; it has ruined his life and career. Getting a job in the future may be extremely difficult. Now, I'm not taking anything away from what he did - it was clearly idiotic - but it does make me wonder if people would be better off without these streaming platforms and social media.
  25. I’m sorry, @Dry Nelson Ray. I read this briefly before but had to leave. However, I did intend to say hello and welcome you to the community. PON is a very good site that sets high standards and delivers excellent content. It’s always welcoming to see fans from other teams partake in some friendly banter.
