  4. It says more about their ability to deal with teams and players. If agents want more money than the club is willing to pay, then they should look for someone who’s worth the price they’re happy to offer. That’s always been part of football. If they wanted to sign players early and have the squad ready for pre-season, there’s usually a premium. Sometimes it’s better to wait until expectations drop, if that’s an option.
  5. It’s an awful place to go, but it’s best to get it out of the way early. They’re the sort of team that will waste time and try to frustrate Notts. Expect them to mess about near the corner flag and drag things out. With them likely fighting relegation, the pressure will be on. If Martin Paterson makes sure we stay on the front foot and don’t let Newport mess around, they’ll be forced to play properly. I just hope the officials are decent, because three points and a winning start would be massive.
  6. We’ve signed well in the wing-back positions and already have strong choices there. We need to start Will Jarvis more often. He’s fearless and will take players on without hesitation. I think Jodi Jones would be better used in an attacking midfield role. Letting him switch between left and right would still give him space to drift inside, but it would take some pressure off him to carry the ball forward and reduce the number of tackles he faces.
  7. I think Notts will finish 4th. That’s just what my gut is telling me. January could be a turning point, if we bring in stronger players, we might push for 4th or even higher. But there’s also a chance we could fall behind. I’d feel a lot more confident if we had another proven goal scorer at this level. I believe the top three will be Bristol Rovers, Walsall, and MK Dons. In 5th I’ve got Chesterfield, then Shrewsbury in 6th, Gillingham in 7th, and Salford City in 8th. For relegation, I think Barrow and Newport County will go down.
  8. This season’s photos might show more of the upper body. Those are last year’s, and I agree, they could show more of the players’ upper half, not just their faces and collars.

  13. Work’s done for the weekend, and I’ve already picked out my clothes for tomorrow. I’m going with a 2002 Juventus top, which I’d love to see Notts copy, it has a similar feel to our 2006 kit. Even though the season hasn’t started yet, it feels close. Maybe it’s just me, but with it being our first home match since last season ended, it feels like more than just a friendly. I hope the atmosphere is spot on. That could really set the tone for the games to come.
  14. I don’t take any notice of it, and I haven’t for years. They often recycle old stories by adding bits that were written before and pretending it’s still news. The quality isn’t great. It feels lazy, and the standard has really dropped. It’s not just the Nottingham Post either, most newspapers seem to follow the same pattern.
  15. He’s a solid defender and should settle in well at Walsall. His style suits the level and he knows how to handle pressure. I doubt he’ll stay there long, maybe a season or two, but while he’s there, he’ll add experience and a steady head to the back line. They’ll benefit from having someone calm and reliable.
  16. It won’t be easy , Cardiff have some really talented players, and if they put out their best side, it’ll be a proper test for Notts. It should show how we handle both defending and attacking against a strong team. Cardiff look like they’ll be pushing hard to get back to the Championship. As for Notts, if we can stay solid at the back and make chances going forward, it’ll be a good sign. Even though it’s only a friendly, with the season just around the corner, it’ll help us see which players are match-ready.
  17. If the defence is well organised, a good goalkeeper can really shine. His height should be a big help, especially when dealing with crosses and set pieces. I’m sure the club have thought through what he offers and how he fits into the team. He wouldn't be here if they weren’t confident in his ability. I’m keen to see how he does on the pitch. Fingers crossed he gets his chance tomorrow against Cardiff.

  21. They’ve got a set amount of money to spend, but instead of coming up with smart or useful ideas, they waste it on pointless things. It shows a real lack of imagination. There are some great YouTube channels out there, like JayzTwoCents. He builds PCs and shares proper advice on tech, which can actually help people understand what they’re doing. The younger generation does seem quite focused on money. It’s as if value is judged more by how much something costs than by how useful or meaningful it is.
  22. I do wonder how long they’ll keep putting money into the club, and whether they’ll ever worry about how sustainable it all is. They used to complain about Nigel Doughty, even though he did far more for them than most Forest fans actually realise or give him credit for. It feels like they’ll need more than just hope or faith to keep climbing. A miracle won’t be enough, they need a proper plan.
