  1. Facing Carlisle United at Brunton Park is no small task. Stuart Maynard will need to craft a strategic line-up that can handle the pressure from the Blues. I believe we need to focus on solidifying our defence while looking for quick counter-attack opportunities that could catch them off guard. Our midfield will play a key role; they need to be both solid and creative to make an impact. Additionally, I think this game will test our squad’s depth and resilience. Players like Didzy bring a wealth of experience which could be pivotal in such tight fixtures. With Kellan Gordon hoping to be available for selection and Jatta being on the bench, it would be helpful for our overall strategy. A draw seems like a reasonable expectation here, but football is unpredictable, and surprises can always happen. Let’s remain hopeful and back our team through thick and thin.
  2. Martin’s signing could be just what we need. Having played for clubs like Norwich and Portsmouth, he brings a winning mentality, which will be crucial as we continue our push in the league. His ability to play both out wide and centrally gives Stuart Maynard more tactical flexibility, which is always a plus. With Edwards out long-term and Jones still a question mark, this move seems perfectly timed. But it’s not just about filling gaps. If Martin can rediscover the form that earned him those Premier League appearances, we might be looking at a game-changer. It’s a short-term deal, but it could be enough time for him to make a real difference. I’m optimistic, but like with any signing, we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out on the pitch.
  3. I think this was a really harsh result on the lads. For large parts of the game, we looked in control, moved the ball well, and created enough chances to win comfortably. We hit the post twice, had one disallowed, and forced their keeper into some good saves. Gillingham were always going to be tough, but to come away with nothing feels cruel after a performance like that. The refereeing decisions were baffling as well, especially the disallowed goal. Injuries are a worry, particularly with Jodi going off and Jatta missing, but we’ve got good depth. Stuart Maynard is right – we can’t control the officials, but we can make sure we bounce back stronger. The mentality in this squad is strong, and I’m confident we’ll respond well in the next few games.
  4. Initially, it looked bleak with Notts going down 2-0 within mere minutes. However, the players’ unyielding spirit shone through, particularly Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley. Jones, with his impeccable dribbling and pace, constantly posed a threat to the opposition. Crowley, on the other hand, showcased his knack for finding and exploiting spaces, threading passes that left defenders perplexed. Their tenacity was a sight to behold, a true spectacle for the fans. Jodi’s brace and Crowley’s pivotal goal not only changed the course of the match but also highlighted their importance to the team. The introduction of Alassana Jatta in the second half added an extra layer of firepower, making the squad's attacking front almost unstoppable. This victory, while exhilarating, is a reminder of the competition's unpredictability. Nonetheless, with players like Jones and Crowley leading the charge, Notts County certainly have the tools to dominate. The key now is consistency and ensuring these performances are replicated week in, week out.
  5. I understand that with the club giving Macaulay Langstaff a new deal and then accepting a bid for him, it may cause some caution about the news of Jodi Jones extending his stay. However, I think the news is positive. It takes a worry off our shoulders about securing it at a later stage, which might be harder. Who really knows, because Jones does look settled at Notts County. His type of player will have an impact on the squad. Players like to be settled, and I would like to think it shows that the club is intent on retaining quality where possible. It’s a boost, which should allow Jones to continue focusing on his performance. I don’t think some fans realise how important it is for players to feel at home at a club. Yes, we will see him leave at some stage, but for now, we need not worry. Just enjoy his magic and be thankful we are seeing him in our colours.
  6. It’s inspiring to read about Macari's journey and how he’s settled into the team. His reflections on last season and his focus on contributing more this season show his commitment. What stands out is how he’s embraced the new challenge at Notts and is determined to make every opportunity count. His attitude and work ethic are commendable and represent the kind of player every team needs.
  7. What a thrilling match against Swindon Town! The team showed immense character and resilience, especially after conceding such an early goal. McGoldrick’s equaliser was exactly what we needed to gain our footing, and from then on, it felt like we had a real chance to turn the game around. His experience and composure were evident in both his goals, particularly the second one which was sheer class. It's also great to see the defence holding strong under pressure. Matty Platt and his teammates were excellent in neutralising Swindon’s late attacks, and Bass made some crucial saves. This win is a significant morale booster and a testament to the grit and determination of the squad. Here’s hoping we can carry this momentum forward and secure promotion.
  8. What a remarkable match that was! From the very first whistle, Notts appeared to be in total control. Jatta’s early goal was just the beginning of what turned out to be a masterclass in attacking football. Crowley’s contributions were invaluable, and his goals showcased his clinical finishing. The interplay between the players, especially during corner routines, was a joy to watch. The defence deserves a shoutout too for their resilience. Even though Grimsby managed to pull one back before half-time, our lads kept their cool and didn’t let it affect the game’s outcome. The resilience and spirit shown in managing the second half were commendable. Substitutions were spot on, keeping the game’s rhythm intact. Overall, a fantastic team effort that will surely lift the spirits of supporters.
  9. Jeff Astle's story is a vivid reminder of the highs and lows that come with a career in professional football. From his early days at Notts to his glory years at West Brom, he consistently proved his prowess on the field. The tale of his winning goal in the 1966 League Cup Final is legendary and cements his place in football history. His versatility in playing multiple positions shows just how talented he was, not just as a striker but as a complete footballer. However, his life off the pitch was marked by tragedy. The injuries he sustained during his career ultimately led to his struggle with Alzheimer's Disease, a condition that has since been highlighted by the Jeff Astle Foundation. It’s a poignant reminder of the unseen impacts of the sport we love. The Foundation’s dedication to raising awareness and supporting affected footballers and their families is commendable. Jeff Astle’s legacy lives on not just in his incredible goal-scoring records but also in the important work being done in his name.
  10. It was a nail-biting game, but I’m incredibly proud of the lads. The defensive display was just fantastic, and you could see the commitment from every player. Maynard’s decision to change the shape partway through was a masterstroke, and it really helped us to take control of the game. The new signings, Jacob Beadau and Matty Platt, were impeccable at the back, and it's clear we have a lot to look forward to this season. However, there’s a bit of concern about our ability to finish. Despite dominating possession and creating several promising chances, we couldn’t find the net. Alessandra Jatta came close, but we need better execution in the final third. With a few bodies out, there's room for improvement. I’m hopeful that once the team gels more and we get some players back, the goals will come.
  11. Connor Grant seems like a great addition to Notts County. It’s clear that he’s had some ups and downs in his career, especially with the relegation at MK Dons, but it’s how players respond to these challenges that really shows their character. His experience at Barnsley, playing in those high-stakes playoff games, should serve him well here. I think his ability to get on the ball and make things happen could be just what we need in the midfield. The fact that Stuart Maynard sees him as someone who can really find his footballing home at Meadow Lane is encouraging. It sounds like they’re both on the same page in terms of how they want to play the game. If Grant can settle in quickly, I think he has the potential to be a key player for us this season.
  12. The pre-season has been thoroughly refreshing, and Maynard's remarks on the defensive solidity hit the right chord. It feels great to see the team focusing on areas that needed attention. The stat about conceding only one goal after 60 minutes is promising and shows that the team's hard work is starting to pay off. Additionally, the new signings aimed at strengthening our defence should give us an upper hand in tough matches. It's crucial we stay strong at the back if we want to have a successful season. On the other hand, I'm really curious about potential further additions to the squad. Seeing Cedwyn Scott healthy and ready to go with the number nine shirt is uplifting. After his injury-plagued last season, a solid comeback would not only benefit the team but also create a massive boost in morale. Maynard's confidence in Scott’s abilities is reassuring. The management team's comprehensive preparations, including scouting Tranmere, suggest we won't leave any stone unturned in our quest for victory. I'm looking forward to seeing how these strategies unfold on the pitch.
  13. It's a bittersweet moment for Notts fans. While we’re incredibly proud of what Macaulay Langstaff has achieved, it's tough to see him leave. His 42 goals in the National League and 28 in League Two showcased he was on another level. He truly made his mark, becoming a fan favourite and an inspirational leader when he took on the club captaincy. The memories he leaves behind, including those historic goals during our promotion season, are priceless. I think Millwall have struck gold with this transfer. They’ve not only acquired a talented goal scorer but a player with immense dedication and professionalism. Langstaff’s presence will surely lift the squad, and I’m eager to follow his journey in the Championship. All the best to him, and here’s hoping Notts County can find a worthy successor to carry on his legacy.
  14. This new Notts home shirt is an impressive departure from the more traditional kits we've seen in the past. The predominantly black design paired with the white trims really stands out, making it both modern and sophisticated. The use of faded stripes towards the bottom adds a contemporary edge that blends beautifully with the club's classic colours. It's clear that a lot of thought and creativity went into this design. What I also appreciate is the commitment to sustainability. This kit not only looks good but is engineered to help our players perform at their best. I can't wait to see it in person and on the pitch.
  15. I hold nothing but appreciation for the service and time Connell Rawlinson has given us. He has been a crucial element of our success here. Through thick and thin, he has been a figure who has consistently poured his heart into his performances. Despite his departure, he stands a good chance to relish what could be his final stint in football. Without a doubt, Rawlo is deserving of nothing but kind words. His own farewell message exudes a touch of elegance. This is part of the reason why I am grateful for his time here. He was never hesitant to mingle with the fans or to do his part on the field.
  16. I’ve seen him play several times for Gateshead. He has grown into his role there and has the potential to be a good signing. However, I don’t think it would be beneficial for him unless he continues to get regular game time. With the new signings and players like Lewis Macari and Kyle Caermon leaving, some players might find their opportunities limited, and Kenton Richardson could suffer from a lack of game time. It would be like re-signing Alex Lacey with no intention of playing him.
  17. It's good to see Curtis Edwards so enthusiastic about his move to Notts. His experience in higher-tier Scandinavian football brings a lot of promise. I appreciated his thoughtful consideration of the club's playing philosophy and his understanding of how it aligns with his style of play. His words reflect a genuine passion for the game and a desire to integrate seamlessly into the team. Moreover, it's encouraging to hear about his appreciation for the coaching staff and the effort he's putting into training. His comments about settling into Nottingham with his family show that he's committed to making a long-term impact. his attitude and skill set bode well for the team’s future.
  18. I can’t fathom why Junior Morais isn’t getting more time on the pitch. I’m aware he had periods last season where he was supposedly out, but when he was brought into the squad, he scored and generally performed well. His speed could be a real asset, but where does he fit in now? Adam Chicksen needs to use the competition to get back to his promotion season form. He was top-notch in 2022-23. That’s the form we need, but Stuart Maynard needs to give some of these fringe players a chance in their natural position. Kyle Cameron shouldn’t be overlooked, he might be alright with the new additions. Yes, he can be a bit absent-minded and clumsy, but there’s a good player in him. The players listed for transfer, I doubt will be let go. The club has most likely had discussions with them since they were put up for sale. Connell Rawlinson and Will Randal could be a decent signing for a National League team, but the wages might be a stumbling block.
  19. Curtis Edwards is a fantastic addition to Notts. His vast experience in both the Swedish and Norwegian leagues, along with his appearances in the Europa League, will undoubtedly bring a new dimension to our midfield. His versatility in various midfield roles and his strong work ethic make him a perfect fit for our team. Moreover, his journey from non-league football to competing against clubs like Arsenal showcases his determination and quality.
  20. This is a brilliant move by Notts County. Rod McDonald has a lot of experience in both League One and League Two, which is exactly what we need to solidify our defence. His leadership qualities and understanding of the game will be crucial in leading our backline. Plus, anytime you can bring in a player who's been consistently good, like being named Player of the Season, is a win in my book. Rod’s journey through various clubs, starting from youth academies at big names like Manchester City and Stoke City, and then proving himself in non-league, shows his determination and grit. It’s also reassuring that his previous managers, like Chris Wilder, saw his potential. This looks like a very smart signing by the club, and I’m excited to see him in the Notts County kit soon!
  21. The transformation of Meadow Lane is not just a win for the team, but for the entire Notts County community. The decision to fully reconstruct the pitch, particularly addressing the failing drainage system, demonstrates an admirable level of foresight and dedication. Many times, bad weather threatened our matches, and knowing that we've now got a state-of-the-art solution in place is reassuring. Matt Hallam and his team have done wonders to maintain the old pitch against all odds, and it's fantastic to see their efforts rewarded with these upgrades. The introduction of a hybrid SIS pitch is a game-changer, literally bringing our surface up to Premier League standards. Not only will it improve the quality of play, but it opens up opportunities for us to host prestigious football events and even other sports like rugby. Installing the undersoil heating system, even if it's not immediately operational, shows long-term thinking. Overall, this project reflects the ambition and forward-thinking nature of the club. It's a proud moment for all Notts County supporters, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
  22. I’ve been supporting Notts County for years, and I must say this has been one of the most exciting transfer windows. Stuart Maynard’s insights give me confidence that we're on the right track. Platt and Beau seem like strong additions to our defence and it’s great to see young talent like Beau getting a chance. His background with Aston Villa’s academy is quite reassuring. The decision to bring Bass on board addresses our need for a solid goalkeeper, and Tsaroulla’s versatility is a fantastic asset. Changing the captain to Langstaff and making Palmer the vice-captain sounds like a strategic move that could bring fresh leadership. All in all, I'm really looking forward to the new season.
  23. It's always refreshing to hear a player speak so candidly about their experiences. Nick’s farewell to Crawley Town is full of genuine emotion and gratitude. It really shows the bond he had with the club and the fans. His memories there seem incredibly cherished, and it's lovely to see him acknowledging that in such a heartfelt manner. Moving to Notts County sounds like a thrilling new chapter for Nick. He seems particularly drawn to the club's ambition and the style of play, which he feels aligns with his own. His thoughts on the upcoming challenges and how the team needs to stay on their A-game show his commitment. Can’t wait to see how this plays out.
  24. Nick Tsaroulla’s signing came as fantastic news. Watching his career progress from Crawley Town, I’ve been impressed by his hard work and remarkable skill on the pitch. The unmatched goal against Leeds and his overall contribution last season in securing promotion via the play-offs are just a couple of examples showcasing his potential. The fact that he’s comfortable on both flanks and strong defensively means he adds real depth to our squad. His time at Tottenham’s academy and Brentford’s B team prepared him well, and Crawley gave him the platform to shine. I'm confident Nick will become an invaluable asset for us.
  25. I'm really thrilled about Alex Bass joining Notts County. His experience in League Two with AFC Wimbledon will bring a lot of strength to our backline. It’s great to hear his positive outlook on the club and his eagerness to contribute to potentially rising through the leagues. His calm head and commanding presence in the goalpost are exactly what we need. His comments about the warm welcome from the staff and his excitement to settle in Nottingham show that he's committed to the team both on and off the pitch. It’s always beneficial to have players who are focused not just on their game but also on their integration into the club's culture. Really looking forward to seeing him in action this season.
