  1. Working in an office with aircon still gets a bit stuffy at times. I do enjoy what I do, but I wish there was more spare time, for things like this and for my kids. Younger fans should make the most of being students, especially with the cheaper season tickets. Us grown-ups are paying top prices, but it’s all worth it for Notts.
  2. Solid signing, and he looks like he could challenge some of the older lads like Lewis Macari and Lucas Ness. It’s good cover, and getting a loanee makes sense here. Shame about the bad jokes around his name, especially the one Notts came up with.
  3. I reckon there’s space for both. The discussion section draws people in and gets proper replies. The status feature feels more casual, good for quick thoughts that don’t need a full topic. It’s great to see all parts of the site getting used.
  4. Even in the top leagues, some young players aren’t quite on the same level as those around them. The difference is, experienced teammates help them learn and grow. That support gives them time on the pitch, which is what they need to improve. I believe lots of young professionals have the skill. It’s more about how they apply themselves and deal with the mental side of the game. That’s often the harder part. Notts deserve credit here. I don’t see many nerves when young players step up. Most seem ready and capable when they’re given the chance. What’s still needed is a strong, supportive environment. That’s what helps young players develop properly. You can’t judge someone’s level too early in football, time and opportunity are key.
  5. What a star Kimbo is. It’s heartbreaking to see someone go through such a hard time, but staying positive really does help. I’m sending her my best wishes. She’s a well-known Notts fan and has been going to matches for years. Before she became ill, she hardly ever missed one. I hope the support she’s getting brings her some comfort. All the very best to you, Kim. Gav
  6. Does anyone know who the trialist keeper was that let in both goals? It would be good to put a name to the face and see how he gets on in other games. Notts probably gave a solid performance overall. These early matches are mainly about getting match sharpness and building up fitness. A 2-1 result is encouraging. With a mixed squad and players rotating, it’s a decent start. On to the next match in Germany. Let’s hope the progress continues.
  7. I never thought he’d go to MK Dons or Chesterfield. I just didn’t think he’d see them as a step forward in his career, even if the money was decent. It didn’t feel like the right move for someone with his experience and connection to Notts. Barnsley should suit him. If he helps them win promotion to the Championship, that would be a great way to finish his playing career on a high. And who knows, there’s always the chance he could come back to us one day as a coach. Nothing’s stopping it, and it would be a nice full-circle moment.
  8. A poetry jam could be something fun for PON to explore. It would be great to see members sharing their own poems and joining in. Is there anyone else who enjoys writing poetry? It doesn’t matter if you’re new to it or have experience, it’s always worth giving it a go. The three poems in this topic are brilliant. They’re written really well, and each one brings something different to the table.
  9. @TheSkipper, Clubs should never resort to releasing personal statements of this nature. As you've mentioned, there are far more appropriate and professional channels to address such matters. This type of response only serves to draw unnecessary attention and detracts from the real issues at hand. It appears the Morecambe owner is attempting to deflect responsibility for the ongoing delays in the sale of the club. From what has been made public, only one credible party has shown genuine interest, and there’s been no indication that they're deterred by anything thus far. While I don’t doubt that he's received some form of abuse, it sadly comes with the territory in high-profile roles, the mention of his family being targeted seems questionable. It’s difficult to understand why or how they would become the focus of such hostility.
  10. It seemed like a signing that could’ve happened, and something I’d expect Notts to go for. If there was any contact, we’d likely never hear about it. Best of luck to Jasper in the next step of his career, he might’ve been a really handy player for us.
  11. The interview was strong. I do wish some fans would give people more of a chance instead of getting upset so quickly. When he first joined, he came across as someone keen to prove himself and win supporters over. His comments after the match yesterday may have helped with that too. Still, I don’t think the reaction to his appointment ever needed to be so over the top. Wanting time to see how things go is fair, but being angry or against it from the start doesn’t help anyone, not the club, not the manager. The way Talk Sport and others ran with the McGoldrick story didn’t help either. That was just embarrassing.
  12. @Robbie, I really hope the sale goes ahead without any problems. If Panjab Warriors Sports take over, they might be able to steady things and get the club back on track. It’s a worrying situation, and it would be awful if the club folded. Still, the phoenix option gives some hope if it ever gets to that point.

  15. Let's take a moment to welcome one of the newest members of our Notts community, I would like to welcome @Daisy-Mae to the community. Thanks for joining us, I look forward to reading your thoughts on the club.
  16. Some of the reactions I’ve seen are honestly quite embarrassing. It feels like everyone’s an expert, until they’re proven wrong. I don’t understand how people can say a player who’s played for Barnsley in League One is only National League standard. I get the concerns some people have about bringing in a player on loan. But from what others have said, and from reading the link @TheSkipper posted, it sounds like he wants to leave Barnsley, and the club seems to agree. If he performs well and we’ve got the funds, maybe this loan spell could show he belongs at Notts. Sometimes a loan move is the first step, and not all players sign straight away. He might want time to get settled and see what life in Nottingham is like. I’m not going to act like I know everything about him, because I don’t, but I’ve heard of him before. And Barnsley don’t just sign anyone, so that says something about his ability.
  17. The MP for Morecambe spoke in parliament and called out the club’s owners, saying that something needs to be done. It makes me wonder if they spent too much trying to reach the Championship while they were in League One. I don’t blame Morecambe for having big hopes, but it might explain why they’re in such a bad place now. I really hope they can come through this and end up stronger. Even if the worst does happen, a fresh start might help them rebuild. I don’t think they’ll stay down for long, but it would be better if they didn’t have to go through that. Their fans deserve better.
  18. Finding information on Google and the astrencin.sk site isn’t easy. The website is hard to use and doesn’t seem well organised. Even Wikipedia still shows the old manager. I wondered if that meant he’s taken on a different job at the club. To be honest, it’s one of the worst sports websites I’ve come across. I do hope Ricardo Moniz does well. I often wonder if things might have turned out better for him if he’d worked under the Reedtz brothers.
  19. I’ll send this to @Chris, he’ll probably know what it is. It sounds like some sort of bug. Thanks for letting us know.
  20. Hello, welcome to the community @Ash. It's great to hear that you have wanted to join PON for so long now.
  21. With Joao Alves leaving, it’s still possible that other members of staff could move on too, no matter what their current role or title is. It could be that Steve Collis is on his way out, which might explain why Sam Slocombe has stepped into a more hands-on role. If that’s the case, maybe he’ll take up the position of goalkeeping coach full time. I know it’s not common for goalkeepers to coach outfield players, but they do see the game from a different view and can share useful tips. Things like what a striker does in a one-on-one or how to put a goalkeeper under pressure. I was only wondering if there had been a shift behind the scenes and whether we might see more changes. Just sharing a thought, not stating anything as fact.
  22. Maybe he didn’t want to return to a first team coach role now there are more staff around. He might have preferred staying as assistant head coach instead. The club may have noticed fans were worried about having too many people involved. So, they could’ve made a tough call and let someone go. I do wonder if Sam Slocombe might step in as the new goalkeeping coach. It would be an interesting move.
  23. England played really well in the first half, but they eased off a bit when certain chances came their way. Harvey Elliott, James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson all look like future stars. They showed great quality throughout. James Beadle looked very calm and composed. He might be a good option for us if we can bring him in on loan.
  24. Who do you want first game? MK Dons (Home) Who do you think is going to be our first game (home or away)? Oldham Athletic (Home) Newport County (Away) What fixtures are you looking forward to? Chesterfield (both) Walsall (both) Shrewsbury Town (both) MK Dons (Home) Grimsby (both) Gillingham (Away) Barnet (Away)
