  6. i am disappointed but i dont blame him, it just means we need to find someone better or more suited to our plans. good luck to him. with his injury it would not have surprised me but i think burton will see the risk of signing him less with it being on a free. he might not get a lot of game time there, but it avoids the drop to the national league which would be hard to get out. burton may have made a good decision with signing gerald bajrami as he does have potenial.
  7. i get that people want to see stuart maynard to succeed and there might still be some here who want him gone. i can accept peoples opinions but part of what made me and others come off for a period was all the hostility towards maynard. the poor guy could not do anything right, the results last season was not all his fault. the players were to blame for making silly mistakes and it was not like he had a transfer window where his input could have help make a difference. if he dont work things out at the start of this season, then i think more may be right to doubt him but until we are at a certain period we need to try supporting our team which includes maynard.
  8. in hindsight it must have taken stuart maynard time to adapt to professional football, i think luke williams left at the worst time for us but i dont believe he should not made that decision. it was a good move for him, however it left us needing someone with a similar vision in coaching the team. some fans were never going to give maynard a chance due to his non league and previous work profession but defensively we did look much better under him than we did williams. most of the mistakes were individual errors, there is not much you can do about that. we suffered from a lack of attacking prowess but its a learning thing. some of the same fans calling for maynard to leave were the same that complained about williams. all of our managers since neil ardley have been learning on the job and last season was our biggest lesson. stabilising our league status and pushing on, i dont think maynard will fault. i also praise the owners for standing by him when it was so easy to listen to the supporters that wanted him gone. that was on the form and poor results, but i think that had little to do with maynard, i hope he proves it this season that he can get the teams balance correct.
  9. it should be great for business, not just notts and forest but for other potential events. there are a lot of sporting events where fans will sit in a nice area and drink, so the importance is there to making somewhere people will want to gather. unfortunately for me i prefer quieter players and would find it to much, i dont like the changes made to the navi personally due to this reason and if i go for a pre match drink i will only consider the embankment.
  10. it looks like he was one of morecambes main players and possibly a big reason as to why they finished where they did instead of further down. not the greatest ending for them but his stats makes it encouraging for us.
  11. i am very happy with seeing us focus on the defence, we have great options up top and that area just needs a little work. defensively is the main area and goal, so pleased to see us sign someone like jabob bedeau who has the ability to do well at this level.
  12. good signing for wealdstone, i think enzio has the ability to be a great player for them but he needs a strong manager who can lift and encourage him towards being consistent. his issues here was the fact he was a flash in the pan, he could score a worldie but did not do enough elsewhere on the pitch.
  13. when we watch how we pass the ball, there is no doubt we would have more of the possession in our own half and this upcoming season it needs to be improved. we need to be braver going forward, less afraid of losing the ball. 70+ percent in our own half shows the lack of attacking effort. i really feel with a stronger defence, less pressure on creating chances will give our better players more freedom.
  14. hello, welcome to pon @Helen C Green.
  15. tobi did better last season when he played than he did our promotion year, issue is he was quite clueless at defending and could not head a ball. i liked him but we made the right decision to let him go. good luck to him at rochdale.
  16. he looks a good signing, coming from blackburn will mean he had something about him that a team like us could get out of him. i do wonder what bradford city fans will be thinking, but i dont pay attention so much to this because i know players can be different in other squads. i am pleased with the signing, its a good first addition to the squad.
  17. i think quality will always be something that is the best thing for a ambitious club, football experience in general is a good thing and whilst we may have a few who have played higher and outside of the football league its quite mixed. we sign players based on them improving and that is the best method in my eyes, some league two players might not make the grade if promotion is gained and i just think quality signings are the best policy.
  18. the sensible thing would be to make sure premier and league clubs have clauses in the players contracts to cover to cover relegation, it might be difficult for clubs to retain players but i think it would open up the market and make teams more wiser with spending. i think parachute payments should be scrapped because it gives teams a better chance of signing players at least at the top levels. its intended to help with balancing the wages but some teams use it to sign them which is just unfair. maybe stricter rules on how the money is spent needs to be implemented if they dont scrap them completely.
  19. i am pleased that crawley were promoted, i thought they deserved it based on how they had performed over the course of the season and in the playoffs.
  20. i dont see premier league teams voting in support of scrapping it, it can work but its been rushed into the game before those who use it can really handle the decisions which need to be made. it needs to be clearer and simplified.
  21. professional foul all day long, i dont know how anyone could just get a yellow for that. regardless of the area, its blatant hand ball and he did it solely to stop the attack. i fear without strong punishment others could replicate this stupid behaviour. any form of cheating needs to stamped out severely, but hand balls like this is an easy red for me.
  22. welcome to pon @R H.
  23. i still think its how we implement it that makes the difference, but the current system is making things a joke. although i dont think forest fans can continue to blame var, the officials and the premier league. they broke the rules and thats that,
  24. i really hope we invest in bringing defenders that can allow notts to be more attacking minded without the fear of conceding at the back. a solid unit from goal to attack would be great. i am looking forward to seeing who signs for us. nice list @ARLukomski.
  25. the thing that baffles me the most is how the the fa have been pumping money into the grass roots as a means to improve football throughout, along with giving players a better chance of training to become premier league players or just good players at whatever level. yet they constantly side with the premier league and screw over the smaller clubs. its very disappointing because many lower tier players get spotted by these games. jamie vardy for example, i see no reason why scrapping them makes sense. premier league teams could use replays as a way to integrate more of their own youngsters into the game as a way to get them embedded within the first team.
