  1. @menzinho did you listen to his post match interviews where he was moaning about notts fans, he never once acted like it was minority. there was rumours leading into the final few home games that he was off, which i personally believe which i did not at the time but there was a lot of people saying that he was off to forest green rovers well before we knew. the way he left, it looked like it was all pre planned and it comes across a bit disrespectful if i am completely honest. i have read comments over the years about sam allardyce being disloyal for leaving to manage bolton. this is similar to that in a way, but at least sam supported bolton and did not try to turn on the fans prior to making his decision. anyone could foresee that it was a stupid decision to join them.
  2. glynn hurtst played for them and us.
  3. it looked like life had taken its toll on here, i remember seeing the episode she did with doctor phil. rest in peace.
  4. welcome everyone to pon! its great to have each of you here with us.
  5. hes such a down to earth guy, it shines through when he plays on the pitch. i am excited about the squad, i think they will work hard and we should have a good season. with david mcgoldrick coming back, it really does have this special feeling that we could achieve something special. i also still believe we can win the league, but it will go down to form.
  6. to me it seems like a good move for both players but if he dont hit the ground running, barnsley need to give him time. its a step up but he has shown with chesterfield he knows where the net is. he could be a great capture for them.
  7. i knew the moment he shuck off the defender that the ball was going to end up the back of the net, it just had that feeling, you could see he realised it opened up enough for him to have a shot. its an excellent striker. i am pleased for david mcgoldrick.
  8. poot callum roberts, i hope hes okay and manages to come back stronger. i think a talented player like him deserves a bit of luck when it comes to injuries, but it does seem hes plagued with them.
  9. i hate news like this but unfortunately it comes to us all. rest in peace, trevor francis.
  10. i hope we get a good crowd for the grimsby game, the lincoln match will be lower and i have not decided if i will be going to that. i might have plans.
  11. ❤i love this! this is a brilliant insight and look into the story of @super_ram. its nice that he grew to like notts through marrying @GrannyPie, they both have been so kind to me. its nice to see some of the earlier points as super first got into football with his uncle stan, who sounds like a lovely guy. thank you for doing this super and @Chris. its brilliant and i hope fans who read this can also appreciate it.
  12. it was a superb effort, he had been looking like he would score all game and i am pleased that his effort struck the back of the net because it capped off a perfect performance by david mcgoldrick and notts in general. having a player who has an eye for goal like mcgoldrick does, will help hugely with scoring more goals from distance.
  13. welcome to pon @George L, i hope you enjoy it here.
  14. neither will get much first team action, so loan them out for half of the season and review come their return. its important that they are not just sitting around, because you dont learn much from doing that and they are crying out for experience.
  15. firstly i think its great when people can feel safe knowing how they truly feel inside, it must be difficult for transgender people and at the same time it something they will know for sure is the right decision for them. i think football should be inclusive, i dont think people will say they are transgender just to play at the womens level for the sake of winning. i think thats a concern overstated by the media and authorities who are against it. there should probably be some rules in place, such being fully transitioned. other than that i think its good for fifa not have an issue with it, plus i respect canada for actively supporting their player.
  16. notts did well but i thought alfteton was weak on the ball, they allowed us to get it quite easily. their defending seemed uninterested at times, very basic and almost just stick a foot out and hope it puts notts off. not very effective at all. all of macaulay langstaffs goals were good crosses but better teams wont allow that space so easily. i felt sorry for the alfreton town keeper because he was playing without any defensive protection most of the time. david mcgoldricks goal was pure class, nothing could have been done about that. overall a good result but disappointed with the way alfreton played.
  17. the 72 are at it again, however, rather than purely making them up as they go along. the 'realistically' emphasis is solely going on players frequently mentioned by notts fans. jesse debrah and sam pearson are the players. https://the72.co.uk/2023/07/24/2-players-who-could-realistically-sign-for-notts-county-in-the-coming-weeks/
  18. jim o'brien is also a great character to have around the dressing room, his experience and joking attitude can be uplifting, so with him and tobi is infectious with his laughter. the squad clearly take things seriously, but its good that they can laugh things off because ultimately this is what brings togetherness and boosts the morale.
  19. @Dan shared this on facebook, i thought fans here would like to see the non league papers spread on the boston vs notts game.
  20. hello, welcome to pon @JustLikeJuve.
  21. i am looking forward to the game, i have never been to alfreton towns ground and i think it should be another good friendly. i think looking at their squad, we should be able to create far more clear cut chances and will hopefully put them away. this time round, i would like to see langstaff and scott start, they have a good understanding of each other. we really should see more of it.
  22. josh clackstone is a good name to mention for this, i am sure there are plenty of others.
  23. technically, yes they parked the bus but they defended well. their keeper made some great saves to prevent notts from scoring more. attacking wise they were out of depth but defending is something i feel we do need to give them credit for.
  24. i think the game was more positive than some think, notts controlled the game and boston just defended most of the time. we cant always dominate teams and win 3 or 5-0. we are still in the pre season and the squads starting to settle, i thought the performance was quite decent. i praise the boston keeper for his efforts and it was good to see cedwyn scott get on the score sheet.
  25. with us making the playoff final, it feels like the close season just merged with the start of the pre season. there was only a few weeks between and during that point the players were on holiday. even with my work, i look forward to having talking points and seeing what is happening. now we are in the pre season, i am more excited than ever. i am very much looking forward to sutton away.
