  1. Barnet are not a slow team by any means, they could be dangerous on the break. They've got a more attacking minded team IMO, I feel we need to throw ourselves at them. It could get feisty at times too. Michael Doyle will have to behave himself. If it doesn't end up with a few cards, I would be surprised.
  2. If the squad can handle the frustration of last Saturday, work harder and be more creative on goal. Then the result could be completely different, I don't feel Notts can afford to lose the first two opening games. We need to get Callum Roberts working well with whoever starts behind him, and the midfield to work harder to support the strikers.
  3. The first 10 to 20 minutes will say a lot, I would like to see Notts hold the ball and create a little more, Harrogate will want to control the game as much as possible. Notts has to shock their defence and take it to them.
  4. Now isn't the time to experiment with formations or the squad. Choose the fittest players that performed well during the friendlies and prior to the lockdown, the occasion should lift most.
  5. The flag looks quality gaffer!
  6. @Chris masks should have been worn at the start, it has given to those lunatics who believe this is a false pandemic.
  7. I want to see Notts perform better, getting a better result than they did in the home game. Once Barrow scored it seemed game over, thought Notts had looked lively until that point but this game needs to be different. What are your thoughts @chipmunx?
  8. Joe McDonnell is just very poor when the teams poor. He looks okay when Notts controls it but worse than Ross Fitzsimons when the players aren't playing well, not a confident keeper. I can see them snatching the lead late on, they may deserve it too.
  9. Go there, get the job done and come back having given 100%. If the players do the right things at every moment, Notts will score and the club will return with 3 points. I might be one of the only fans who are sick about hearing about the postponed matches and how some constantly have gripe towards them. The officials have a lot to answer for. Keep the game safe, play to win and leave happy.
  10. I watched Football Daily I think who mentioned this incident with playing Keepie uppie. Good read @DangerousSausage.
  11. I still have to travel with Uni and work, I haven't come down with anything. I would worry. Yesterday I think 12 new cases were published and the press labelled it "sweeping" across the UK. Bulk majority belonged to the same family.
  12. Storm Dennis could hit Woking on Saturday with Kristian Dennis expected to start due to the suspension to Wes Thomas. I hope the game isn't called off, I have been very busy and Saturday would be a release for me. Two whole long weeks, it would be horrible to get to Nottingham to find it's been postponed and I then have to go back to Leeds.
  13. How Yeovil aren't level by now I will never know, Notts are doing okay but seem to be riding their luck.
  14. I read that Regan Booty is doubtful but could potentially make a return to the bench. Dion Kelly-Evans is still out supposedly, along with Damian McCrory at the moment but McCrory could make a full return.
  15. With Notts County piling up with fixtures back in December, the club managed to pick up 10 points from a possible 12; it highlights how beneficial mixing up what was becoming a stale squad can be. The previous month as we all know, Notts struggled to pick up points and fans including our very own Chris and ARLukomski called for the introduction of fringe players. Tom Crawford who hadn't appeared for Notts since the away defeat in 2018/19 to Mansfield, has managed to be called upon and despite being relatively quiet in the Solihull Moors game, he hasn't had a lot of football so a few quiet performances can be excused in my opinion. Additionally, Notts County Academy product Sam Osborne has made a return to featuring and did excellently in the FA Trophy game against Chesterfield, backing it up with another impressive performance against Maidenhead United where he scored his home debut at Meadow Lane. As the run of fixtures came in thick and fast, the club needed to adapt and allow for critical players to rest in favour of someone else desperate to get match minutes. I don’t feel any individual players are guaranteed to start, as this is part of the issue, when some regularly perform at a subpar standard. Alex Lacey who had to wait for Ben Turner to pick up an injury to start has been a shining example at the back, and he has grown already within the role, partnering Connell Rawlinson very well. With the return of Dion Kelly-Evans who offers a lot of pace, his effort to get involved has been an enormous relief to see on the pitch. I wonder, why Neal Ardley waited so long to introduce some fresh players to mix things up. One possibility I have already touched upon, that being the frequencies of how often Notts had to play but, it makes you question could earlier results have been different if it was sooner? December changed the mood in the supporters, reawakening fans and a real belief that the club can go up has been re-inserted into the minds of many. No question this will take a lot of work, with the return to action in 2020 only seeing a draw but that is a good enough start in my eyes, Notts won't cruise past any team in the National League comfortably. The fans need to have a level of optimism, pride and a noticeable amount of fight from the squad. December has proven that Neal Ardley can make successful changes, changes which need not be forced but implement as a way to keep legs fresh. January will rely on much of the same approach, with players who can be saved for the crucial odd appearance rather than playing each game and becoming jaded. If we allow Ben Turner to rest appropriately, perhaps he will be able to come back stronger? I think it would be harsh on Alex Lacey to be dropped, and I believe Connell Rawlinson has been superb in recent games. With the addition of the latest capture, which seems to be a real coup for Notts. I would like to see Cal Roberts take up the opposite side of the pitch allowing Sam Osborne to remain in the first team, development-wise Ozzy won't always be a standout player but provided he's learning. It will only benefit the club further. With the Football League's transfer now almost at a close, I don’t expect Notts to sign any more players, especially with Jim O’Brien close to making a return since his injury in December. I believe the squad has players who can fill in the gap, as Pierce Bird played well against AFC Mansfield in the Notts Senior Cup match, which saw Jim O’Brien return to action. It's for this reason, why it would be disappointing to see fringe players, not utilised more. We have more than capable players at the club who can partake in creating something unique, who are earning a wage but until recently have found themselves often overlooked. Insert a little faith; let's hope they can make a positive difference when called upon. 16. I feel a win is important, being inside the playoffs gives the players something to protect and fight for. Being on the outside and suffering setbacks can be frustrating, I feel that leads to teams struggle. I mean where there's quality, it can be useful but I do feel this is a tough division. The cup game won't mean much, but it should give us an insight as we won that encounter. I can see them adjusting and making changes, which could make it harder. I'm going to say a 2-1 win, Dennis and Roberts to score.
  17. Great piece! Solihull Moors is personally the worst away ground that I have been to this season, I haven't managed to make a lot due to work and Uni. With the hype of the game I thought it would be good, yet the ground isn't fit for purpose.
  18. A win would start to give Notts some cushion space in the playoffs, plus enhance our chances of securing a place above them. I expect Barrow to struggle, I dont think they will have the fitness required to keep up. Dover are a typical National League team, nowhere near good enough for league football but can beat anyone in this division on their day. I'm hoping Notts can claim a convincing 3-0 win.
  19. This is spot on @Simon Clark. The new owners don't seem to be attracted to the limelight, they both seem genuine and down to earth. It's a positive sign in my opinion that the club may finally be able to move forward, RT happy to cut his loses and sack managers. AH loved the spotlight and playing the innocent game. It feels like to have quiet owners who have the right focus.
  20. It's an excellent capture, I am sure Wootton will feel the buzz and appreciation from the fans. I would also say it's good to see the club thinking ahead for once, this deal was reported to have taken 2 months of discussions and that is good work by the club.
  21. A cups, a cup even if it is a tinpot competition. The FA Trophy is a lot better than the checkatrade thing being ruined by B teams. Until Notts are near the final, if they can make it most fans won't care. Winning is good though, and a cup could give the players a welcomed distraction.
  22. Key win which will be vital for any bid with promotion this season. There's no reason why Notts can't do what Mansfield did when they got out, they won the majority of their remaining games and took the league by storm. For us, this will require a lot of focus but the Bromley win shown we have some true grit.
  23. It's good to see you blogging Gaffer, write about what you like.
  24. It's not a bad result. If anything it settles the expectation that unrealistic people got from winning a few games on the trot, after doing the same with being defeated. It just says we have to balance things a bit more but I do feel it's fair to say the run of games has taken its toll, if only a bit.
  25. Due to the sheer support, yes it's local but a win is a must. Loyal fans have been wanting to make their way to Damson Park and leaving without 3 points, it wouldn't reward the loyal following.
