Where did it go wrong? Refusing to play Jonathan Forte is where I would say things began but failing to buy a striker during the 2017/18 season seems to have impacted things. I would like to think Forte would have done better with a younger striker to support him. Good write up @samwatto2008.

We did well against Lincoln last season, this time round it's going to be a nightmare. I'm afraid if Lincoln scores more than 1 goal that they will just click and we will buckle under the pressure. I would like to think Notts can cancel each other out but I just don't think it's likely. I have not predicted a loss this season but I think it will be 3-1 on Saturday.

Beyond acceptable now, the early goal for Notts made me feel the win was on the card but after we pulled it back I just felt it would end up 3-2.

We look like a pub team playing a team far better than we are from those highlights, how can we let them score that third? Where is the defending???

Good player but often would seem a bit lazy with Notts. He looked like someone who could do well at League Two level but played better where he had more time and space. He should do well with Preston.

Difficult game Newport, they know how to play on home soil and will most likely sit back for the draw. If this happens and Notts push to win, I feel Newport could end up scoring two or more goals on the break. I'm not very confident about any points being picked up here but I hope the season can finally start.

Flash in the pan springs to mind. He looks an awesome player when things are going right but second rate when they're not.

Not at all the broken manager that some fans are trying to say, I can't believe some people are suggesting he's hitting the beer. He's been on holiday and returned exactly as he is now, give him time to get back into shape before spouting nonsense.

I do feel the club should have signed one new 'wow signing' per each area. I think Andy Kellett needs to come in and replace Dan Jones and when Ben Hall returns from injury in two weeks he would have to be given a chance.

Even if the penalty had gone it wouldn't have made much difference, Hemmings had the right idea but put too much power on it.

I think it will be 2-1. Yeovil to score late on and for the final minutes to be the usual nail biting situation.

If the formation changes it will be between him and Husin to fill the gap in midfield. He sounds like a sensible player, his heads clearly switched on.

Very good chance to get the first win of the season. Just stay switched on and put bodies on the line to defend, we should be good. I am looking forward to a decent performance.

We could dwell on the defending and say how Notts didn't make a Championship side work for the goals they scored but I am pleased by the performance. It makes a positive difference to know the squad can retake the lead. I think the rest can be worked on, massive improvement over the Cambridge and Colchester league games.

Use the game to test some other the other players, drop some and save others for the league game. I would like to see Tootle and Stead to sit the game out. Even if this means Alessandra starts up front ahead of Dennis.

Disappointing to see Notts give such a sloppy goal, some Notts fan will blame Shaun Brisley who looks awkward in defence but what the hell was Fitzsimons doing?

Get an early goal Notts, make them have to work for it and just assume control over the game from there. If we fail to beat Colchester and Cambridge the season could be much slower than we had hoped for. I know it's early but promotion teams usually go into them starting off well, so I hope things pick up on Saturday.

Two scrappy teams which neither side was able to put in a proper performance. I think from the Notts perspective this is my biggest worry the fact we are woeful and lack that finishing required to win games. Stead missed a few good chances yesterday.

Odd team Cambridge United, I don't know what to expect. I would like to think that Notts have to get a good result but I think both teams at this stage are unpredictable. We need the points badly...
