How Jodi Jones’ Extension Sets the Stage for Notts County’s Future

Jodi Jones extending his contract with Notts County is a massive win, not only for the club but also for the fans.

Jones has become such an integral part of the team, and his decision to commit to staying at Meadow Lane until 2027 sends a clear message. Both the player and the club are aiming high for the future.

What strikes me most about Jones is his passion for Notts County. You don’t often see players who speak so openly about how much a club means to them. When Jones said he was "buzzing" after getting the deal over the line, you could feel his excitement.

This is a player who has rediscovered his love for football thanks to Notts, and it's obvious why he chose to stay. It’s not just about the contract; it’s about the club giving him a place where he feels at home.

Jones’ bond with the fans has also been huge. He’s openly said how much their support lifts him, and anyone who’s been to Meadow Lane can see how he feeds off the crowd. When the fans sing his name, you can tell it gives him that extra spark.

It’s more than just football for him, it’s about being part of a community, and that’s what makes his decision to stay such a big deal for the club.

Jones isn’t just a favourite at Notts County. He’s earned the respect of the wider football community too. Winning both the PFA and EFL Player of the Year awards last season shows the level he is playing at.

Yet, what’s refreshing is how humble he remains. He’s quick to give credit to his teammates, the manager, and the supporters, but you can see that his focus is on one thing – promotion. That’s what drives him, and it’s clear that he’s determined to help the club achieve it.

What I admire about Jones is his honesty. He’s spoken about the pressure he felt when he first joined the club, knowing that Notts County took a chance on him. But that pressure only seemed to push him to perform better.

Now, with his new contract in place, he’s ready to prove himself all over again. He’s already started this season brightly, with important assists and goals, and his nomination for August’s Player of the Month shows he’s not content to rest on last season’s success.

One thing that stands out is how unselfish Jones is on the pitch. When asked whether he prefers scoring or setting up goals, he immediately said assists. That’s rare in today’s game, where many players are focused on their own stats. But Jones seems to get just as much joy from helping his teammates succeed. It’s that team-first mentality that makes him such a valuable part of the squad.

There’s been a lot of discussion about his best position, but Jones himself has made it clear that he feels most comfortable on the right.

That’s where his game is more natural, and it’s where he can be at his most effective. Now, under Stuart Maynard, who’s had a full pre-season with him, Jones is thriving, and it’s clear to see the impact that’s having on the pitch.

In my opinion, this contract extension doesn’t just keep a top player at the club – it’s a statement of intent from Notts County.

Jones has the passion, the skill, and the hunger to help lead this team to promotion, and for the fans, it’s a sign that the club is heading in the right direction. It’s not just about this season, it’s about building something that will last, and with Jones on board, there’s every reason to believe they’re well on their way.

It's a big deal to get Jodi's signature for another three years.

It stops all the speculation about his future & sends a message from the club that they are prepared to invest in the clubs best players.

Jodi has already intimated that he loves it here, & so does his family.

It is quite possible that Jodi could spend the rest of his career at Notts. That would be something.

But as we know, every player has his price & a new long contract won't stop future enquiries.

But Jodi can now concentrate 100% on helping the team to possible glory this season

What strikes me the most is his genuine passion for Notts County. Players like him, who care deeply for their club, are rare these days. His humility and team-first attitude, especially when he talks about assists, are admirable. The bond he has with the fans and his determination to help the club achieve promotion show he’s more than just a player; he’s a key part of the community. It’s this kind of spirit and drive that will push Notts forward.

This is a great read, mate. I think you summed up everything very well. Jodi Jones is a different class at this level. We were so fortunate to land him in the National League. He helped us massively then, but since his contract and all the comments he’s made after, about wanting to get goals, you can see it in his play. Such a brilliant and exciting player to watch. His deal is more than just stability for him or just a three-year deal. It’s commitment and a sign that the club’s heading in the right direction. The fact he feels he needs to further repay the club shows his class off the field, and his actions on it prove how fortunate we are.

Jodi Jones passion for the club isn’t just evident in his play but also in how he speaks about it. He’s noted how much he appreciates fan support, and it’s clear this boosts his performance on the field. A humble player, he’s quick to credit his team and staff, focusing relentlessly on promotion ambitions. His preference for assists over goals speaks volumes about his team ethos. It’s his connection with the club and community that makes this contract extension a landmark moment. This isn’t just about retaining a player; it’s about fostering a culture of loyalty and ambition.

Jones extending his contract is wonderful news for all Notts fans. His connection with the club is more than just professional, it’s emotional. From his words, you can tell how much the support of the fans means to him, and this relationship certainly boosts his performance. His humility, despite winning individual awards, is commendable. The team-first mentality he displays by preferring assists over goals is rare and deeply appreciated in today's game. His time under Stuart Maynard has been transformative, and extending his stay at Meadow Lane till 2027 shows he believes in the vision for the club's future.

Jodi Jones' commitment to our club until 2027 speaks volumes about his character and passion. What truly sets him apart is how much he values the fans and their support. You can feel the excitement in his words when he talks about staying. His preference for assisting teammates instead of chasing personal stats embodies true sportsmanship. Under the direction of Stuart Maynard, Jones has grown immensely, and his decision to remain signifies his belief in the club’s future. His connection with fans and his unselfish play style are what make him such a cherished player at Notts County

Credit to the club for sorting it. Even if a future bid is accepted, it shows his commitment to the club, and it's not like players don't leave eventually. I'd prefer it to be done and dusted so he can focus on his football, rather than having it hanging over him. Many fans were hoping for this, and now we have him until 2027, at least on paper. I love Jodi's ability and attitude.

To hear what Jodi has said about the club speaks volumes about the Players Character and his Dedication to get the Magpies Promoted to League 1. To say he prefers assists than goals also shows the huge Respect he has for his Team Mates. It is No Wonder we the Fans have taken him to our Hearts.

It would be totally Amazing if Notts could keep him at the Lane. But a word of warning the more he produces the kind of form, which he has shown over the past couple of seasons and is continuing to show now, it wont belong before Bigger Clubs begin to take Notice and as it's been stated Every Player has his Price. We only have to look back at the Macca situation, during the last off season.

So lets Enjoy Jodi's Skills while we can and Appreciate what he has done for our Club. And should he move on to a Club higher up the Footballing Pyramid, Lets Not Begrudge Him That Opportunity.

Marvellous read, points and sentiments I fully agree with. Jodi Jones came across well in his interview and he’s here for the right reasons. His contract signing is a nice thing to wrap up. It shows the squad that we have committed players, so hopefully any others waiting in the wings, such as Dan Crowley, may follow with this news. Good players always want to be a part of a good squad, and it’s obvious if Notts plays their cards right, the club could go somewhere. I like that Jodi is focused on promotion and scoring more goals. His attitude towards assisting his teammates is clear.

Jodi Jones’s loyalty and enthusiasm for the club are refreshing. His bond with fans is special and lovely to see, making every game more exciting. The fact he’s a team player, always valuing assists over personal glory, shows his good character. Under Maynard’s guidance, Jones continues to thrive, and his decision to stay shows the club’s ambitions moving forward. It’s not just a contract extension; it’s a statement that Notts County is building a future with heart and drive.

If he hadn’t signed before the Bromley match, fans would be eager for it to happen. For all the right reasons, he has agreed to a new deal. He could have gone anywhere after we got promoted to the National League, but it feels like he’s started a journey he truly wants to be part of.

His comments about “feeling at home” at Meadow Lane are clear. This is a good article on the news, his reaction, and the interview I saw where he spoke so openly about his decision.

It just shows how far Notts have come when a player like Jodie Jones wants to commit himself to the club. I think he’s got better (if that’s possible) under Maynards guidance. Great credit to the club for getting his signature,

@Fan of Big Tone very good point, prior to the reedtz we always tended to see our better players leave. i dont count the two years we had under ah, but before that we lost so many goof players due to the state the club were in. alan sheehan for example, who went on to play in the championship. we are now able to retain our better players, yes some do leave but that is football. this is a great read @TheSkipper.

You balance your assets in football. We lost Kyle Wootton because he wanted League Football and we failed to gain promotion. It doesn’t seem like that with Jodi Jones. It feels like the club is moving and progressing with the squad. It feels like everyone is committed and patient about achieving promotion to League One. It’s going to be a fight, but with four spaces, it’s doable. I think we have a much better chance of staying up when this happens with Jodi in our ranks.

It makes a change that we are retaining players and not having to rebuild every season. Jodi will see this, as I am sure Coventry kept most of their players and improved around them. So, I am delighted with his decision to commit.
