Adam Murray Hypes Up Local Derby

super_ram

Notts County play hosts to Mansfield Town at Meadow Lane on Friday night.

Stags boss, Adam Murray says his team has enough to win at Notts.

He said "It will be a great test for us going into that environment against a good team but make no bones about it, we are a very good team ourselves and we are not going there to make the numbers up.. I am not going there to sit back and watch Notts County. We are going into a thunderous environment and I want us to play at tempo. They are going to know they are in a game."

He also referred to the number of players Notts had signed with some being from outside of England and commented on their quality having played at a higher level.

He added "But we've got no fear. We are going there for a local derby and we want to show them what we are about. We've got enough in our changing room to go there and beat them on Friday, so that's what we will set out to do."

After nearly being relegated last season Mansfield aim to be in the top half this season.

Murray said "We have some tough games coming up in which I think we will do well."

Notts have won both their games so far, both away, while Mansfield drew their League 2 opener 1-1 at home to Carlisle and lost 4-1 away at Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup.

I respect the comments he's making because if I supported Mansfield, I would want them to come here and try to get something. Just because on paper we have a better squad, won't mean we have won it and it's really for us to prove ourselves, not Mansfield.

Right now many are expecting an high scoring game, in fact I think it's likely to see four goals scored.

Yet, chances are the game will be a hard fought contest.

As I said in the PONcast, Mansfield are gonna give us hell. We have to keep our cool but at the same time not take any s**t from them, keep to our game plan and slice through them like a hot knife through butter like I'm sure we can do.

Murray said "We have some tough games coming up in which I think we will do well."

Naive comment.

Lets just defend our home soil! We must kick our home season off with a win.

Sounds a little like he will get his team to approach this a la Westley... local derby does not and should not need any stoking.

I would expect both camps to be up for this... but it does sound like the ref may need to be on his game also

We will show them "no fear" tomorrow, when we let our black & white boys run wild against the stags.

Well its mansfield wembley considering all the signings and quality of them. If we avoid injury and some points, it would have been a successful game.

His comments are to be expected.

I think Ricky and the new boys got a crash course in how league 2 works. In these games the rules are there to be broken, along with legs, arms, heads, and any other body part you can reach.

By playing the man, not the ball, Mansfield ensured that if they hadn't got it, neither had Notts. The game changed after about 10 minuets following a series of crunching fouls. Seeing that the ref who seemed to be out of his depth was not prepared to take out his red card, Notts were from then on second to the ball, and hesitant whilst the yellows continued to get stuck in.

I am not being homophobic but Is Mansfield captain - Hunt - allowed to do that?
