Notts County owner Alan Hardy has claimed that Kevin Nolan's success as a manager is due to his "innate ability" to be both on the same wavelength as his players and also their boss.

The former Premier League midfielder has turned a side that was battling relegation last winter and turned them into one in the top three of League Two.

Nolan was rewarded for his exploits in September, which saw Notts claim six wins from seven, with the League Two Manager of the Month award.

“What I especially like about him is the uncanny relationship he has with the squad,” Hardy told the Nottingham Post.

“It’s a very rare gift to be able to relate to the players at their level, and be one of the boys, but still command supreme respect from them.

“Only a few managers have it and I don’t believe there is a manager at League Two, One or even Championship level that has that innate ability.”

Perhaps, I still see Kevin Nolan learning at the minute and he's got a lot to do right now.

These past two games give us an overview into what will happen things things don't go right, as the players need to respond and just fight for themselves - yet KN is a rare gift, he is one I would like to see remain around Meadow Lane for a few seasons.

This means we must focus on re-grouping and bouncing back from Mansfield and the woeful performance against FGR.
