Notts County boss Harry Kewell has claimed that Kristian Dennis is "100 percent capable" of reaching double figures and most likely just needs to up his match fitness.
The Magpies forward has been drafted into the starting XI following injuries to Jon Stead and Kane Hemmings, but has found the going tough against Port Vale and Oldham Athletic.
βI do have sympathy with him,β Kewell told the Nottingham Post. βBut he is a fantastic player and he knows the role.
βHeβs come up against three centre-backs or two, but he knows what heβs got to do.
βHeβs probably just missing that little bit of match fitness. If he can get that, then fantastic. Weβve just got to keep going, keep giving him confidence and keep giving him chances.
βHeβs a great player and a great lad. He wants to score goals so letβs see if we can deliver that to him.
βHe is 100 percent capable of [reaching double figures], but I suppose we are all shy of a little bit of confidence.β
