Notts County have announced that Liam Noble's contract at Meadow Lane has been terminated.

The 27-year-old left Forest Green Rovers last autumn to rejoin the Magpies, becoming eligible to play as of January this year.

However, Notts have revealed that Noble wanted to return to the north-east of England, where he hails from.

As such, his contract has been ended by mutual consent and he has now joined Hartlepool United.

Notts owner and chairman Alan Hardy told the official website: β€œLiam has had a very open and honest discussion with us and we were not going to stand in his way.

β€œWe wish him the best of luck and will be continuing to pursue a number of transfer targets as we look to ensure the squad is ready come August.”
