Stuart Maynard Hails Notts County's Resilience in Hard-Fought Victory

PON_News

Notts County achieved a crucial victory in a rain-soaked match against Newport County, emerging as the triumphant team. Stuart Maynard, the head coach of Notts County, expressed his delight in securing their first victory under his tenure in a post-match interview.

Maynard lauded the team's resilience and praised the unwavering support from the fans who braved the inclement weather to rally behind the squad for the full 90 minutes.

Reflecting on the match, Maynard commended his side's performance, highlighting their potency on the break. "It's good to get the first three points on the road. I thought it was an excellent away performance. We looked really dangerous on the break," Maynard remarked. He emphasised the collective effort of the players and the dedication of the coaching staff, acknowledging the seamless transition despite the recent change in management.

Addressing tactical adjustments, Maynard remained tight-lipped, emphasising the need to maintain an element of surprise. "We don't want to give away too much. This is our third week in charge. We understand what we need to work on and tweak," he explained. Despite conceding a penalty, Maynard expressed frustration but chose to focus on the positives, emphasising the team's resilience in managing the game effectively.

The decision to change goalkeepers also paid dividends, with Luke stepping in seamlessly and delivering a solid performance. Maynard credited the competition for places within the squad, highlighting the depth and versatility of the team.

Injuries had sidelined key players, but their return to the pitch showcased their determination and professionalism. Maynard singled out Louis Macari for his outstanding performance despite his prolonged absence due to injury. He applauded Macari's defensive contributions and hailed his unwavering commitment to the team's cause.

The attacking prowess of the team was evident, with David McGoldrick and Macaulay Langstaff leading the charge. However, Maynard was quick to praise the defensive work rate of the entire team, emphasising the importance of a balanced approach to the game.

In regard to their league position, Maynard remained focused on taking each game as it comes, emphasising the need for recovery and preparation ahead of their next fixture against Wrexham. The decision to stay overnight in Wales showcased the club's commitment to ensuring optimal recovery for the players.

As the team prepares to return to Nottingham, Maynard's words resonate with optimism and determination. Notts County's victory serves as a testament to their resilience and unity, setting the stage for further success as they continue their campaign in the league.

i am pleased for stuart maynard, i feel certain that this will be the boost all needed. its been awhile since we last won away from home and that probably crept in at our home games with everything else going on. macaulay langstaff was great, getting him more involved will lead to chances. very happy to see how we have responded after the Gillingham defeat.

And to think there are and I use the term loosely certain fans calling for Stuart Maynard to be sacked??? After last nights performance I think the Gaffer is slowly getting to grips with his job and getting across what he wants his players to do, which will take Time and if he tries something which doesn't work, he drops it and isn't worried about  trying some new which may work.

Despite being ill in bed I managed to listen to this in between throwing up, the result certainly made me feel much better. I’m so pleased for Maynard after some of the stick he’s received from so called “fans” on social media.

The resilience displayed by the boys was nothing short of remarkable. Maynard's approach to focusing on our strengths and not dwelling too much on the set-backs, especially after the penalty, shows his maturity as a coach. Also, huge shoutout to the fans who were there, your support never goes unnoticed!

The club's dedication to player recovery by staying overnight is a masterstroke from the management. It's these little things that contribute to a bigger picture of success. Maynard and the coaching staff’s attention to detail is transforming our play style and mentality. Let’s keep this momentum rolling!

It's very early days but the signs are very encouraging.

Stuart's influence on the team since he started his work as Head Coach is clear to see. His little tweaks with the shape, style and tactics paid dividends tonight.

Several players took on different roles tonight, but a role they are used too. Starting with a traditional back four.

Macca looked comfortable as a winger, Macari as a full back, Robertson in the centre of midfield driving the play, Didzy leading the line, & last but not least, Jodi, who could express himself with a free role.

I'm sure Stuart will tinker a little more depending on who we play, but I must say Notts looked more of a balanced team than we have witnessed for months.

That's down to Stuart Maynard and his team.

Last night's match was a proper testament to the squad's grit. Amidst the relentless rain and a hard-fought battle, each player stepped up, embodying the spirit of Notts County.

It's this resilience, the ability to push through adversity, that distinguishes a good team from a great one. Stuart Maynard's leadership and tactical flexibility were evident, proving his value in the dugout. The support from the fans, braving the weather to back the team, only reinforces the strong bond within this club.

The seamless transition under Maynard's short tenure is commendable. From choosing to stay overnight for better recovery to celebrating the individual brilliance of players returning from injuries like Louis Macari, every decision seems to be a step in the right direction.

It’s not just the attack that deserves applause but the defensive efforts which kept us in the game, showcasing a well-rounded team performance. With Maynard at the helm and the team displaying such unity, the horizon looks promising for Notts County.

Seeing Macari back on the pitch and making such an impact was the highlight for me. This victory is a huge morale booster for the entire Notts County community, and it’s a clear indicator of the positive direction Maynard is taking us. Every player gave their all, proving we’re a force to be reckoned with.
