Bristol Rovers striker Tom Nichols has admitted that his side deserved to lose in their FA Cup first-round encounter at Notts County.
The Magpies found themselves two goals down within the first quarter-hour but spectacularly turned it round through strikes from Ryan Yates, Jon Stead and Jorge Grant for a 4-2 final score.
βIt was very disappointing after how we started,β Nichols told the Bristol Post.
βI think we got what we deserved in the end. We got 2-0 up and just stopped playing, I donβt really know what went wrong to be honest.
βAs a team we didnβt defend well enough, and you canβt have to score five goals to win a game. We had chances and should have taken them, and we ended up getting punished for missing them.
βWe didnβt deal with their threats, I donβt know how to explain it. It just went to pot.β
