7 dinked penalties out of 9 penalties scored is an impressive stat.

Love how they put Panenka Enthusiast in brackets under his name and earned the nickname Johnenka 😅

Was really hoping he was gonna say he did it for Cedwyn Scott to be the hero and a bit of redemption 😅

@super_pie told me, I just laughed, and he's amazed that nobody has caught on. Thank god, Ross Fitzsimons doesn't put the effort in as the likes of Ben Foster do because it would've been saved and not missed.

I'm not bothered that John missed his penalty.

the pressure on scott would have been huge, he did look nervous but he just smashed the ball. i dont think ross would have saved a penalty if we kept taking them for 24 hours straight.

don’t think it was a bad penalty, he just overstruck it. At least you could see what the competition was like. He was otherwise great to see.

I think you might have been a bit annoyed if his miss had not had a winning  outcome

It was an unfortunate penalty, but I don’t hold it against John Bostock. I thought he played exceptionally well on the pitch and his goal helped us get to the shoot-out. Absolutely no blame or negativity should be directed his way.

The Bostock penalty wasn’t terrible, he just overhit the ball, but it was a superb technique. I thought it was going in until it hit the crossbar and bounced away. Did anyone else see it in slow motion?

When you see how disappointed a player is, like we did after John Bostock missed his penalty against Chesterfield, it’s hard to be critical. If it hadn’t been hit so high or hard, it would have been a superb goal and would easily have beaten Ross Fitzsimons.

It was what it was - there’s no use in complaining because it didn’t cost us promotion. I don’t think even John could repeat hitting the crossbar again even if he tried.

Am I the only one who had never heard the term Penanka? I kept seeing it mentioned in reports and I had to google the term, it was a new one on me.

I'm a football nerd so I knew what it was 🤣 It's an interesting but heart stopping way of taking a penalty.

probably not, @Chris does not seem to blame people when it comes to missing penalties. with the amount of pressure when taking one, i think i would miss every time. 😕

I’m not too bothered about the miss, he scored earlier in the game and saved our bacon.

I’m not bothered either, it was the best attempt at a crossbar challenge I’ve ever seen. The shot was struck perfectly and it’s a shame it didn’t find its way into the back of the net. I would have loved to see Ross Fitzsimons’ reaction to that - it would have been priceless.

Blimey, that was certainly a bonkers penalty, but I don't reckon it was a bad choice at all! If it had found the back of the net, everyone would be singing his praises. John's been doing it precisely because it flummoxes the keepers, so he's well aware of the risks. No point dwelling on it - at the end of the day, Notts came out victorious, and that's what truly counts!
