Don't get me started on this ridiculous UK self harm race to net zero.

Russia, Brazil, China, Indonesia and India are expanding coal production, and churning out hundreds of new coal fired power stations, while this Country, with less than 1% of greenhouse gas emissions in the World are shutting ours.

It is  biggest example of UK self harm in history.

All we are going to get from this is much more expensive energy for generations to come.

Go preach that to China Russia, India & Brazil.

China is building hundreds of coal powered power stations every year adding to the thousands they already have, and using a trillion tons of coal per year to supply them, & we are closing the only few we've got.

The UK churns out less than 1% of World emissions.

The UK has done enough.

i do think its for the best, we need cleaner energy and relying on coal is not the best thing to do. we need to invest more in greener energy, so that the prices of electricity can come down. the cost of living wont be resolved without action.

I think this Country should invest in Nuclear energy now, It is too late to build any coal fired power stations because most have been closed, & they are a lot less efficient than Nuclear or even gas fired power stations.

Trouble is the present nuclear power stations are growing old, so we need to invest in smaller modular nuclear power stations.

I just don't like having row after row of solar panels using up valuable land. If they are going to build wind farms build them out to sea and not on the land

Nuclear and solar power should be explored; Brazil has one of the best echo friendly setups for generating their power. 80% of their power is produced by a large hydropower plant.

For such a nation, I think they're doing an amazing job to be at the front of this.

We should be looking at replicating this sort of technology, even if it's on a smaller scale because any renewable energy is better than focusing on coal.

Nuclear energy, it's something I am mindful of if it goes wrong and where it would be the safest to build.

Yet I don't think you can pin the future on just one means of producing the energy needed, things change and having multiple options is never a bad thing.

They appear unattractive and emit a lot of smoke; if they were constructed in the last 10-15 years, people would likely gripe about them being unsightly. Wind turbines have the potential to look appealing and create minimal noise, yet people still grumble. I don't believe relying solely on one solution is appropriate; incorporating some renewable energy would be beneficial, but exploring other options would also be advantageous.

The Chinese, Americans & lots of other large economies are laughing at us for the path to self harm that this Country is on, as other major economies like China & the US continue to invest more and more in fossil fuels.

These Countries below are not going to follow the UK's example of shutting down it's coal fired electricity generation anytime soon if ever.

Meanwhile they have a distinct advantage over British industry by having much cheaper energy to make their products.

China last year generated over 60% of its electricity from coal. Many of these emissions end up being embedded in consumer products used in Britain.

China is not the most coal intense economy, either. South Africa generates around 80 per cent of its power in this way, India 75 per cent & Indonesia 60 per cent. These are big users.
