Has anyone seen Changing Ends? It’s a semi biography about Alan Carr’s (the camp comedian) early life. His Dad Graham Carr was a manager of Northampton Town in the then 4th division. I don’t normally like Alan Carr but this series is very funny and interesting.

Its about his struggles at school being obviously effeminate at an early age, his dad wanted him to be a footballer which was never going to happen.

The young lad who plays Carr as a boy is brilliant in it.

I’ve watched snippets of it and didn’t find it particularly engaging. I don’t find Alan Carr especially humorous. It brought to mind the sitcom “The Grimleys”, albeit not as good.

Graham Carr was a Notts head scout for a few years, I believe. 

Is it any good? I remember seeing the promotional stuff before it was released, but I haven't seen any of the episodes.

I don’t like Alan Carr but I enjoyed watching this but it’s all down to taste, some funny stuff about his Dad as Northampton manager.

I think Alan Carr  would of been better off playing American Football

He could have been a Tight End

Or Even

A Wide Receiver.

I think @GrannyPie and @super_ram mentioned this to me, but I can't really stand Alan Carr.

I didn't know his father was a manager until he started doing promotional appearances for the show. I'm not sure if it would be my thing, as the clips I have seen - I didn't find it to be all that interesting.

I must say if the series is a true reflection of his early life, he must have gone through hell as a schoolboy people are much more accepting now of gays, lesbians etc but back in the 1980s unfortunately people were less so.

I’m not keen on him as a stand up comedian his voice grates but I have a new respect for him knowing what he’s gone through.

@Fan of Big Tone I have been watching it with Kate, it's actually very funny - especially in parts.

Oliver Savell really steals the show, and is a great choice to act as a younger Alan Carr. What makes it more interesting to me, is the balance between his father's relationship and how he coped at a young age for being camp. We're on the second season, having watched the episode where he was sick going into kissing the girl who clearly adored him. The Guess Who part, where Alan explained that it was his only "female crush" and the beret hat was hilarious.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it @Chris we thought it was really good and like you say the young lad is brilliant in it.
