I think we can move on if this is confirmed, there are strikers who can score goals and the way in which Notts plays - we could find someone who might not have been prolific before. Provided a striker can make good movement, read the game and has a good level of finishing, there will be goals in our team. I would have liked him as a potential signing, but there's certainly options.

It makes me wonder if we won't be signing anyone though. :(

I'd have liked to have seen Will Evans here, but if it's not to be then it's not to be. Although we've received a good fee for Macca we'll still operate in the model of not over-paying for anyone. And by all accounts he's only got 1 year left on his contract, so paying upwards of £250,000 when you could get him potentially on free next year doesn't make much sense from a financial point of view.

I'm sure we'll have a list of attackers and we'll just move onto the next target now. In an ideal world it would've been great to have the whole squad complete before the first game but I think everyone in league 2 is in a similar position to us. We've still got just under a month to bring in a couple of new players, not quite panic stations yet!

He was orgiianlly part of my thread of strikers to replace Langstaff, but I realised he's already 27, which is the age Macca was when we sold him to Millwall. We signed Macca when he was 25 and we need to be aiming for a striker in that 22-25 age bracket so we can develop them. You'll get one season out of Evans and that'll be it. You'll then be searching for another striker again even if you get promoted

he could have made a good signing but 23 goals in 91 appearances at the age of 27, is not the most glamourous record. i dont see these stats as important, i am just saying we could find someone more suitable. i do think the way we play, someone with a good level of finishing would thrive. i get the feeling we wont be signing another striker though, the club seems to be heavily promoting david mcgoldricks contributions in the pre season.

we might be waiting to see how january looks.

I’d loved to have seen him sign for Notts, oh well, onward and upward.

I'm not disappointed that he didn't sign for Notts.

Not sure that he would have got well into our style of play anyway

Notts have three excellent strikers of their own and if it comes down to it, one of our attacking midfielders such as Jodi, Nemane or Crowley could fill in as an emergency striker if needed.
