What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Just mix the team up a bit, bring in some of the players who haven't had many minutes so far. I don't value the EFL trophy at all.

I think throwing a too weakened squad would be negative, but I would consider seeing what Brown is like as a striker and resting some of our key players. Only some, it's not something I would take seriously. I wished Notts could pull out of it, like they did with the F.A Cup (which should have been taken seriously). It's one game, unless you progress. Not a series of pointless group games.

A field where dreams become reality.

I'm also going to continue the trend of not really having any interest in this competition. I know there’s a trip to Wembley at the end of it but I really don’t see the point of it. It’s basically like a best of the rest competition for the teams that aren’t ever going to get close to reaching the final of the League & FA Cup.

They’ve put in rules that stop teams from just playing their reserve/kids which is exactly what I would do (along with the players who need it for match-fitness) but it’s not as restrictive as I originally thought. I thought you had to start a minimum of 4 outfield players from the last league fixture but the rules stretch to also include; any outfield player with 40 or more first-team appearances in their career and any outfield player on loan from a Cat.1 academy.

It’s a minimum of 4 from that, so as long as for example we started; Chicksen, Cundy, Abbott and Brown the rest of the team could be from our academy! I doubt the changes will be that dramatic though. Potentially a good time to ease McDonald and Robertson back in if they are fit, but I wouldn’t risk them if not.

This competition is just about avoiding injuries for me. So rather than picking a team here’s who I don’t want to feature: No Bass, no Bedeau, no Platt, no Tsaroulla, no Palmer, no Crowley, no Didzy, and no Jatta please (obviously no Jodi too but that’s highly likely given the possible injury!)

For the trophy match against Burton & think that we will see many changes to the Notts starting 11 on Tuesday.

I may be wrong but Jatta won't feature because Stuart will want to give him every chance to recover from his recent head injury.

I think Brown will start upfront with Austin  supporting from midfield. Reynolds may get his first start too, with Palmer Hinchy in central midfield

We may well see Cundy in central defence with Macari & Bedeau. Slocombe in goal, Chicksen at left wing back, Gordon on the right.

I forsee a strong bench with McGoldrick, Platt, Crowley, Abbott, Grant, Bass, & Sanderson all available to come on if required.

It would be nice to get something out of this game, but Stuart will be thinking more about next Saturday, & ensuring that there are no more injuries.

Like most members on here I think this Trophy is a waste of time, I suppose the only Good Thing about it is, that as it's been said Players who haven't featured much will hopefully get match minutes under their Belts.

@Wheelbarrow repair man

I don't expect that Burton will field a strong first starting eleven either.

Notts have six players down  injured, so Notts cannot afford any more from this game.

To be honest, teams should just play the B side with just a few first teamers wanting match time.

I just wonder if this game will go ahead with the amount of rain?

If you learn something from every game, there shall come a point in time, when you should never lose... Jimmy Sirrel

it wouldn't surprise me if we did call the game off, so that could focus on the weekend but that is not very notts like. i dont think the result matters, but the performance does because that can cause poor performances in the league. i think we have to play at least 5 regulars, give aidan stone the chance ahead of sam slocombe. i dont think it will happen tho, but i would because stone is better with the ball at his feet.

Agree @liampie Stuart should give Aiden another opportunity. What's to lose by playing him, & there is much to gain.

And yes, Notts should play several of those who have been playing in the first 11. Another defeat wouldn't help things at the moment.

We haven't had a "Matchday" tweet from Notts today either.

The Notts starting Line up against Burton tonight. 7 pm  Kick off

The side is more or less what I expected tonight. I thought that the bench would be stronger though.

Nice to see McDonald making a start tonight.. it is virtually a Notts B team.

GORDON!!!!

Burton 0 Notts 1

29 - Goal! Brown and Reynolds combine to supply Gordon, who cuts on to his right and picks out the far corner with a lovely, curled finish!

McDonald has been impressive so far, solid. Both Chicksen and Gordon looking good down the left.

Like the look of Cisse, couple of good balls in the box.

Cundy extremely dodgy with the ball at his feet. Brown anonymous

"What you have seen is moments of real quality, the best move in the game ended up in the goal. Notts have been largely the better team throughout."

54 - "Goal! Chicksen gets to the byline and watches on as Cisse sends his looping cross against the woodwork, with Austin there to roll home the rebound"!

Substitution Notts. Gordon makes way for Tsaroulla
