Poch In America.

Mauricio Pochettino former Spurs and Chelsea Head Coach and a possible early front Runner to Replace Gareth Southgate as England Manager, has been appointed as the Head Coach of the United States National Side. It will be Interesting to see how he Coaches the side, if he will Adopt the European Style of Football or Pep ball the Expansive brand of Football or Go in a Completely Different Direction? The thing is does the American National Side have the required Skillful Players to play the European Way, or will Poch have to Mix things Up?

Thoughts?

It's going to be interesting to see how he adapts, it's like having a very extended holiday I would imagine but the United States team have been underachievers for some time. Most of their better talent is between the age of 22-26, but lack firepower up top.Β Haji Wright is a decent player with promising potential.

They lack the Landon Donovan type striker mind.

I don’t understand the appointment myself. I think there are far more suitable managers for the national job of the United States, but I wish him well. It’s going to be hard for him.

Just looking at his wiki.

And haven't we seen this style employed all over the English game, even a NottsΒ

"Pochettino favours a very high-pressing, attacking style of football. He often employs aΒ 4–2–3–1 formationΒ at the clubs he manages.

While doing so, he instructs his team to build from the back, intimidate & unsettle opponents with a quick-press system and work the ball into the box."

It just begs the perennial question.

Is this the style that is the be the all or end all from now on, or can the English style make a comeback in our game?

"The English style of football is simple and easy to implement, & the British philosophy is to get the ball up to the forwards as soon as possible.Β The ideal British striker is physically strong, aggressive, and can power their way past defenses".
