Best performance of the season.

Notts were great defensively when they had to be. The first half was Notts at their best. The second half was Notts showing the grit & desire to not concede that we have seen a few times this season.

JATTA IS something else. When he's in the side Notts are very dangerous to opponents, and that route one goal by Jatta was great to see.

Notts back to second place after nine games, one point behind Gillingham.

That's a game Notts would have lost 3-2 last season. Notts were superb in the first half. Carlisle dominated the 2nd half. Jatta's finish was sublime. A well worked team goal for the 2nd. A good night's work.

For me, that has to go down as the best performance of the season, & maybe the best performance under Stuart Maynard

In the first half Notts dominated. Dan Crowley was superb once again, Scott Roberson came back as if he had never been away, & Alassana Jatta is something else up front for Notts.

When he's in the team he gives Notts something extra. Th goal he scored was very well taken, but it came from a route one long pass from Bass.

The second goal was a typical Notts well worked goal finished off superbly by Robertson.

The second half was Notts having to show grit & determination to keep a spirited Carlisle at bay. A great defensive performance plus two World class saves from Bass, kept Carlisle at bay.

Notts have demonstrated that they can show flair to open up defenses, but they can also show grit & determination & grind a result out if necessary, as they showed in that second half.

Two wins & a draw since the narrow Gillingham defeat is a good way to bounce back.

Tonight's two goals.

Jatta's positioning on a Notts goal kick has been undetected by most this season. He stands beyond the last defender and when Bass gets the length of the goal kick right, Jatta is in on a 1 on 1 position with the opposition keeper.

Great result in the end but I felt like that was a weird game. We were in total control for 60 minutes, having actually rarely attacked them. It was like a training session at times, but then we just stopped playing for that last 30.

Crowley was great on the ball, but at the same time he was so deep at times, he was just basically toying with them and taking the p*** out of their players. But I’d have liked to see him doing that closer to the opposition goal, he’s too good to not be used as an attacker.

We did defend well, but at times it was far too easy from them to get balls into our box and I feel like a half decent team could’ve punished us. Maybe after watching us defend last season I’m not used to us being able to deal with any sort of attacking pressure from the opposition!

Watching the You tube Highlights Notts scored two well taken goals. It was good to see Bass had the sight to see Jatta's positioning and had the insight to send a long ball over the Carlisle Defense. The second was also a well worked goal and nice to see Robertson on the Score Sheet. Dan Crowley looked sublime, it was also a treat to see Notts defending well with a They Shall Not Pass Attitude. Last season the Magpies defense may well have crumbled under Carlisle's pressure in the second half. Unlike on the X highlights, the You tube highlights had a Commentary, from a Carlisle Fan, but Remarks such has What the F*** are you doing and F***ing wake up after the Notts goals wont get him a Job with Sky or the BBC which is a shame really.

The second half might not have been the most thrilling, but the opening goal was a moment of brilliance. Jatta’s presence on the field made all the difference, and everything changed once Stuart Maynard made his adjustments. Despite the heavy schedule, it was a solid victory.

Alex Bass and the defenders did an excellent job keeping Carlisle at bay. We’ve been playing a lot of minutes lately, but the team’s resilience showed through. It was a well-earned win, thanks to the strong defensive performance.
