MAGnets link - Carlisle United

How many connections can we think of between The Mighty Magpies and Carlisle United? Let’s keep the guesses to a minimum of one for now.

I’ll start by mentioning defender Shaun Brisley.

Can you think of any players, staff members, or managers that connect the two teams? Remember, let’s start with one person for now.

François Zoko is the player who faced a fine during the Trew era for generously giving his shirt to a fan. He played for both teams, and I felt we should have started more as a striker.

A player that will be making a trip back to Carlisle will be Rod McDonald. I'm sure he will feature in the Notts side at some point in the game.

We’ve already got some good names, but I’m sure there are plenty more. Come on, everyone, let’s see how many players we can name before the game tomorrow.

Shaun Brisley
François Zoko
Lewis Alexandra
Rod McDonald
Kristian Dennis

I believe one of our more recent long-serving players had a spell with them. Some deserve to be remembered as legends. He was heavily involved with the club during the Trew era and after his playing days.

I know who Joshua is referring to, but I will say Mark Ellis since today is his birthday!

He’s played for us and Carlisle. He’s a very good defender. I wished he had joined us permanently, as it seemed every other week he would score or be heavily involved. Good player, despite his short time with us.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Cedwyn Scott has played for both clubs. He'll be sorry for missing this one.

The answer is Mike Edwards. He went to Carlisle and then came back to where he belonged.

It’s a shame the club doesn’t have ex-players like him around.

Willie Carlin, who died recently, played for Carlisle & Notts County in the late 60s & early 70s

Ex Notts loanees Josh Vela and Ben Barclay too

If you learn something from every game, there shall come a point in time, when you should never lose... Jimmy Sirrel

Chris Billy. Who played briefly for Notts in 1998 then Carlisle from 2003/7
