port vale seem to be in decent form, undefeated in their last 5, with 3 wins and 2 draws. currently 7th in the league but i dont know much about them as a team since we have spent so long in the national league.

So, they should be bringing a fair amount. I hope they come friendly and lively, because when the Jimmy Sirrel stand is loud it does encourage the KOP. Port Vale are doing well, they'll be tough but I am not worried that they will outplay us. I am just encouraged to see how the game unfolds. I wonder how the team will look, considering we played mid-week and Saturday before that. It's good that Jatta, Cedwyn Scott and Scott Robertson are all back.

I am really looking forward to the game, it should be a good test for both teams.

This will be another important game for Notts to try to win.

The win at Carlisle was a great win which demonstrated the quality of the Notts squad, but also demonstrated their ability to adapt to different styles of play.

Notts need to continue that trait against Port Vale too.

I suspect that Stuart will try to pick his strongest side once again. McGoldrick will figure after he has been rested in midweek.

I expect that Robertson will maintain his place & continue his partnership with Palmer in midfield.

I also think that Stuart will retain Austin & Gordon in the first 11.

So my team would be

Bass, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Gordon, Tsaroulla, Robertson, Palmer, Crowley, Austin & Jatta.

Subs, Slocombe, Cundy  McGoldrick, Grant, Scott & Abbott.

Key areas will be all over the pitch. Notts will need to adapt and change styles if required.

I think it will be a close game but I think that Notts will edge it maybe 2:1.

I hope we can keep up our form. It would be great to get back to winning ways at Meadow Lane, but Port Vale are one of the strongest teams we’ve faced. We’ll need everyone to give their best to get a result.

Port Vale are a strong team, and I believe they will pose a greater threat in attack than Gillingham did. They have much more pace and creativity when it comes to creating chances. They could turn out to be one of the better teams we face at home this season.

A good start would involve Notts keeping hold of the ball and using it to assess Vale's strengths and weaknesses. I hope we don't see too many changes in the lineup, as the team tends to perform better when it remains settled. However, Stuart Maynard has had to make adjustments due to injuries and fatigue.

I don’t expect there to be more than two goals scored in the match.

It’s going to be a great game, with returning players and a fantastic crowd. Meadow Lane will be full of energy. If Notts can deliver a strong performance, it could spark even more optimism and support for Stuart Maynard.

I don’t see why it caused such a big complaint after their initial allocation had sold out. No idea why some of their fans thought they'd get the whole stand. We aren’t ever going to offer that when teams won’t fill it due to the need for extra police and the closure of the road behind. To be honest I thought our initial allocation was fine, that’s still a lot of tickets at this level. Will their fans be moaning when they don’t get 2,000 tickets at Accrington, Bromley, Barrow, Carlisle… (add pretty much every other L2 club here!)

Anyway, as for the match itself, I think Port Vale will be more focussed on their off the ball tactics for this one. I could be completely wrong here but I’d expect them to press us man for man like Morecambe did and look to take the ball off us high up the pitch. I’d be surprised if they adopt the sit-back with a low block approach, they are too good for that. There’s a possibility George Byers won’t be fit for them and he’s a very good player, but they have a good squad for this level and can bring in someone like Croasdale to replace him if needed.

As for us, I’d like to see Crowley switched with either Robertson or Abbott, I think we’ve got to trust Palmer a bit more to be able to keep the ball moving in the deep midfield role. We over-did in terms of passing in midfield and went nowhere at times against Carlisle. I’d like to see Tsaroulla as the LWB and Gordon on the right (I don’t think it’ll happen though). Austin and Crowley behind Jatta with Abbott or Robbo supporting Palmer. Back 4 picks itself, McDonald will push someone for a first team spot soon though.

I think it’ll be a close game, if it ended in a draw it wouldn’t surprise me.

Playing against a side like Port Vale, we can’t afford to be complacent. I’ve got my eye on Macari, his positioning and decision-making will be key against a dynamic opposition. With Port Vale being unbeaten in their last five, it’ll be tough. But our recent performances at home give me hope. If our defence holds strong and the wing-backs provide width, we might find joy in the wide areas. Let’s make Meadow Lane a place to fear for visiting teams!

Looking at their line-up, I do feel we have an edge in certain areas. Our attacking intent needs continuation from previous matches. Tsaroulla's abilities on the flank, when on form, can create pressing issues for Vale's full-backs. Likewise, Gordon has looked good in recent games. The home crowd’s energy should feed into players’ performance, as they thrive on support. It's about playing smart and being clinical with opportunities.

Darren Moore is one of those managers you want to do well but not tomorrow obviously.

Port Vale are a consistent side and that is a big plus in League 2. I expect them to come to ML and play football. That should make for an exciting game tomorrow. Notts need to start winning games against sides that will push for promotion. I think that starts tomorrow. 2-1 to Notts.

Notts really needs to start winning home games again, but this is a tough match where we might need to be patient. I think it's winnable, every game is, but we need a top performance from the whole squad.

It’s significant to approach this match with both caution and confidence. Our recent results highlight our depth and adaptability. Midfield play will be the heart of winning this game. If Palmer can orchestrate from the centre, keeping it simple yet effective, we’ve got a real chance. Port Vale will test us, especially with their ability to transition quickly, but our backline resilience should hold firm. Jatta's inclusion can be pivotal before hitting them on the break.

With our squad getting back to full strength, I feel optimistic. McGoldrick being rested midweek is smart; his experience will be invaluable. I would love to see us dominate possession and play with intelligence, keeping their threats at bay. Robertson and Palmer have a good understanding in midfield; I hope they can exploit any gaps. Notts fans are always vocal and that support can lift the team at crucial moments. I'm predicting Robertson with a goal and a 2-1 win for us.

The atmosphere at Meadow Lane can be electric. With a full house, the support could make a real difference. Stuart Maynard’s tactical choices will be interesting, especially with returning players. Let's make the Lane a fortress!
