Good morning it’s a wet start to the day here. Yesterday we didn’t find my wife’s great grandmothers grave, it was like looking for a needle in a haystack but we had a nice walk and stopped off for a drink in the pub. It was nice chatting with the family.

Today we’ve no real plans so far, we’ll see how the day plans out.

Itd be nice to get a few more folk engaging in this topic it just seems to be a few people mainly me and @Robbie, come on everyone let’s have some general chit chat.

Woke up to another wet morning with cloudy skies & more rain in the air.

Would be interesting how many inches of rain we've had here this summer, because apart from a very brief hot spell, it's been all rainy, well it seems that way.

Nothing planned as such today, apart from my daily walk. Wife's ordering the weekly food delivery.

Good morning, I’m off to the doctors this morning to get my covid and flu jabs, to say I’m not a fan of needles would be a massive understatement, in fact I had a massive phobia at one time but I’ve managed to overcome some of the fear after having lots of covid injections but I still get a bit apprehensive so wish me luck.

Good Morning. It's overcast weather here again this morning. Rain is in the air again and the light is very poor.

Did you know that New York, US is on the same latitude as Madrid in Spain, that's 1200 miles south of where we are here.

That's why New York is much brighter than here at this time of year. It is the reason why trees are so much colourful there in the fall than they are here.

Good Morning.

Well it's raining again here after raining most of the night. Suspect there may be some flood alerts round the Country today.

I think this could be one of the wettest years we have witnessed, especially in my area of Nottinghamshire.

The growth of plants & trees this year in my garden has been phenomenal. The garden is so lush & green, We are even seeing early spring flowers getting confused & are shooting above the soil.

A bout of frost will soon put their intentions to bed, but it just shows how unusual the weather has been. Or is it so unusual in this day and age? I think not.

Good morning it’s a lovely bright start to the day. A nice day to put some washing out, the highlight of the day. :rollonfloorlaughing:

I don’t know what’s in those jabs I had the other day but since I had them I’ve slept until nearly 9am both mornings, I never do that normally.

I hope everyone is ok, come and join in the chat let us know how things are with you at the moment, what have you been up to this week? Anything exciting or just boring old work/college/school?

Good afternoon. It's been a lovely morning here with lots of sunshine & much milder than late. Nice to see the ground drying up after days of near on continuous rain.

Hopefully I will get an opportunity to do some more work in the garden. I want to do a final cut of the grass & do some tidying up too.

Woke up to an overcast morning once more. Looks like we are going to be affected by a named storm Ashley on Sunday & Monday.

I used to travel abroad for my holidays quite a lot in my younger days. The Greek Islands, Crete, Corfu & particularly Kos were a favourite of mine.

So we're the Canary Islands, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, particularly Lanzarote were a favourite too.

In the late 60s visited Sweden,  Denmark, & France with my parents

In the 70s toured Spain by coach, visited the cities of  Madrid, Teledo, Seville & Granada. Plus the city of Bilbao twice in the 1990s

Loved Guernsey too, visited a couple of times in the late 80s

In the 2000s visited the US several times to visit New York & Long Island

I have visited most parts of the UK including the Isle of Wight & the Isle of Man.

Nowadays I prefer to holiday in the UK. There are so many places I haven't seen & would like to visit, but would like to visit Ireland if I get the opportunity.

@Robbie I love travelling too but unlike you I have done more since turning 60 before that with a mortgage and kids to feed we never had the money, the furthest we went with the kids was France camping.

For my 60th birthday we had a cruise around the western Mediterranean it was supposed to be a one off but we loved it that much we’ve done 14 cruises now, visiting lots of countries including Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Canaries Islands, Malta, Gibraltar, Norway and Sweden. I didn’t fly until I was in my 60s.

Having said all that I love visiting places in this country too, Isle of Wight is a favourite, I love Scotland too.

@Fan of Big Tone During the days of Windows 98 PC's and dial up internet there used to be holiday auction sites, where you could bid for holidays that were unsold & needed to be sold off

These auction sites allowed you to bid on foreign holidays & if you timed it right you could get a great bargain, such as all inclusive holidays for less than half price, sometimes even less than that.

Had some great holidays by that method, but I think those sites are now discontinued. But it was good while it lasted.

Good morning, it’s matchday and a bit wet and dreary out there, I’ll be going to the match today with Chloe, I’ll be in the Pavis stand well back out of the rain but I think it’s forecast to be dry later anyway.

I like Saturdays as there’s lots of footie, later I’ll watch The Football League Show and then Match of the Day. :clapping:

Good morning. It's Matchday today. It soon comes around again..

Plenty of rain overnight here, & it's still raining. Lookout for the named storm coming in from the Atlantic on Sunday & Monday.

Won't be at the match today but will be listening on Radio Nottingham.

So far, it’s a bit rainy and dull here in Skegness. Kate and I went to collect Super, who is staying the night with us. We had an early start, catching two taxis to the train station. The journey was very pleasant and quiet. Once we arrived at our destination, we headed straight to where we’re staying.

After a brief rest, we all had a little sleep, mainly for Super and his beauty routine. We’ve now ventured out and are currently sitting in The Suncastle. We’ll be moving on soon, but Super is happy as he’s just had a beer.

@Piethagoram we had a day in Kotor on our cruise, it’s stunningly beautiful. Don’t use your phone though it’s not in the EU so your package data won’t count.

Good Morning.

Another rain soaked soggy morning here. The wind isn't too strong at the moment. With luck this named storm will pass us by & we won't get the worse of it here.

Looking forward to the Notts women's match against Leafield Athletic at 2 pm today at Coronation Park Eastwood. Updates will be posted on the match thread.

Managed to do a landmark yesterday as my pedometer recorded 1501 miles walked since March last year.

Just imagine how far the average person has walked in a lifetime, the mind boggles on that one.

Good afternoon @Robbie that’s a lot of miles to walk I don’t think my car has recorded that many miles since March last year.

Its raining and windy here so we won’t be going far, our grandchildren Chloe and Fred are coming to stay with us for the night while mum and dad have a well deserved rest from them, life can be difficult with teenagers, they’ll be ok with us. We’re doing a sunday roast with all the trimmings later then we’ll settle down with a film or a board game.

@Fan of Big Tone Including commuting to work & then driving for my job, I drove  approximately 55,000 miles a year.

I had a long commute to work then came the driving & the deliveries. I'd probably walk about 5 to 6 miles a day on my delivery route.

So I was already used to the walking part. Also the loading & the unloading used to keep me fit.

I'd unload during my shift a full load of 58 trollies of milk, up to 20 drops, one or two at the small shops, more at the larger stores, then replace them with the empty trollies.

A full load of empties would be about 84 trollies. Just depended what were available at the store.

It's a big thing when you stop all of that. Trying to keep active is the key.

Indeed, it’s important to keep as active as you can in retirement, it’s too easy to slip into a sedentary lifestyle if our not careful. That’s why I do park run when I can.
