We got away with one there. The heavy pitch didn't suit our style. Poor first half. Better in the 2nd half.

Lot better second half for Notts, Barrow won first half we won the second half, a draw seems a fair result.

It was the poorest I have seen Notts play in that first half. It was a terrible start once again, conceding an early goal.

But the changes that Stuart made in the first half & later in the second made the difference as far as I was concerned.

Notts looked much more threatening & managed to get the equaliser late on again.

This team just doesn't know when it's beaten & in the end a point is welcome & the away unbeaten record continues.

Other sides around Notts have either lost or drawn so Notts go up to third place with this draw.

The growing injury list is a concern, & Notts will have to improve in their next match against Harrogate on Saturday.

A Well Earned Point. I Think That's the Third Time Didzy's Dug Notts out of the Mire with a Late Equalizer this Season. Stuart Maynard as Certainly  Installed a Never Give Up Attituded amongst his Squad of Players, there have been Several Occasions this Season when the Magpies have been on the Brink of Defeat, only to Hit Back in a Matches Dying Moments, Something they Would have Not Done last Season. Keep Up The Good Work Lads.

No idea what that penalty was for, I didn’t even see it in the replay so I’ll have to watch it back. Is this all to make up for the fact we conceded a load of soft pens last season or are we on some sort of deal where we get 5 pens before the refs can award our opposition one this season?

Not so much a grind that one because we played that like we were the team that was 1-0 up. There was just no urgency to get the ball forward. I’d like to know how many passes were played in our own half there (a lot). Why for so much of that match were both Palmer and Crowley playing just 5 yards ahead of our defence though, they were in a line of 5 at times and then it just made it impossible to pass forward.

So frustrating to watch, I can see a good team here, but it was just way too cautious at times. In that second half in particular when Barrow stepped off us a bit we just played the safe ball far too often. We had moments in that game where we’d make a couple of passes across the back, get the ball to a player with open space to run into and they’d just pass it sideways, again! I think Crowley and Platt did drive with the ball into space once but there were so many opportunities there to do it.

First half was poor but we just played into their hands by trying to pass to feet all the time when we were being pressed, it was crying out for a ball into space/some diagonal balls over the top (and someone to actually run into it). And we could’ve even been 1-0 down earlier too, Hinchy’s dodgy pass that resulted in McDonald having to rush back and pull over Newby(?) should’ve probably been a penalty for them. Feel for him as he’s young that he got hooked so early, he wasn’t playing well but to be honest at that point no-one was.

But then after all that we get a draw! That’s us up to 3rd, no idea how at this moment, is it just a league with no real stand out teams this season?

@menzinho the referee missed a blatant penalty, with a barrow player pushing i think dan crowley off the ball in the area. i thought the one given was harsh, but it made up for missing the other. barrow were quite dirty at times, they played some good football but looked like they could be beaten had we got to grips with the game before the 60 minute mark.

I would like to give a shout out for Martin & Brown for their performance against Barrow last night.

I think when they came on they both had their best games for Notts & were both a contributing factor for Notts getting back into the game.

I'd also like to give Maynard some credit for his willingness to change things when things aren't going so well.

The fact that we have seven players out of the squad injured at this time, but Notts still got something out of the Barrow game, shows the strength of the squad this season.

The whole decision regarding Jatta, David McGoldrick, and Jevani Brown seemed strange, especially given the options we had on the bench if one needed to be substituted due to injury. I thought Notts played very poorly; no one made space or attacked as a team. It felt like we were relying on one player to deliver the ball into the box, while 2-3 of our players were outnumbered by seven defenders marking them. We improved as the match went on, but I couldn’t see where a goal would come from. It must have been frustrating for those who turned up, so credit to the fans. Notts needed to pass the ball around better and give Barrow a chance to create space, but we were lucky to get a penalty. I must say, David McGoldrick is quite predictable in where he will shoot, and his penalties aren’t the best. Of course, I’m pleased for him that it went in, but sooner or later, better goalkeepers will know exactly how to handle it.

lt wasn't a very good performance, but we’ll take the point and move on.

I think Barrow played very well. They really stood out in the match.

Take a point all day long with 5 central midfielders out, one still not yet fully match sharp and another who hasn’t played much regularly.
Issue now is getting these players fit as soon as possible, otherwise we’ll risk burnout from the ones playing more football than they should be.

I think last night also proved that Bedeau and Platt have to play in any game against decent opposition as McDonald just didn’t look up to speed. Maybe he might get another chance at the weekend against his former club.

I wonder if Macari was still struggling after getting cramp at the weekend as he did not have a great game.

When Maynard lets his Players play with Freedom, Notts are a Totally Different Team and look capable of Beating any team in this Division. Then It's back to the Notts "Model" pass the Ball Sideways or Backwards or even back to the Keeper. In recent Games Notts have a had a Couple of Narrow squeaks, with the ball being played back to Bass only for the Ball to be latched onto, by the Opposition, fortunately the Magpies have been Lucky Enough, nothing came of these Mistakes. They will Eventually pay for one of these Blunders, it's the law of Averages. Notts make a Rod for their Own Backs once they Revert Back to Tippy Tappy Football, the Fans Can See It Why Can't Maynard and his Staff Also See It?

I think we need to put things into perspective. This time last season we had conceded 25 goals under Williams.

This season we have conceded last than half the amount, just 12, after 13 matches.

I think that Notts are on a holding pattern at the moment, getting as many points as they can before the new year.

With the defensive squad we have, there is a good chance we can get to January in a good position.
