Morning all, it’s a damp start here and 7 degrees so a bit nippy.

I’m not sure these weekly chats are worth doing, I noticed only two other members have viewed last weeks, let alone commented. So thanks @Robbie and @Piethagoram for taking the time to respond but maybe it’s time to call it a day. People don’t seem to want to engage in general chat.

Don't give up @Fan of Big Tone it's a good thread to have going. With a thread like this you can talk about anything.

Thanks @Robbie I just feel that if only three people are engaging or even viewing then there’s little point, I wish more people would come on even if it’s just to say hello, it could be a very valuable thread to discuss things but the majority of people are obviously not interested.

@Piethagoram that recipe sounds good, we have pasta pesto quite regularly so next time we’ll try that.

Well members of PON it's been a lovely morning here with unbroken sunshine after days and days of murky weather.

Been quite busy today, took the food order from the wife & did the shopping this morning. Sometimes it's nice to go around the supermarket rather than getting the food delivered.

After an early lunch the wife wanted the windows cleaning, so out with the step ladder, bucket & leather. I must say we both did a great job too.

Tomorrow I plan to get out into the garden & prune away the last remaining flowers left standing. No rain forecast for tomorrow so hopefully I can get the planned work done.

I had a weird dream last night, Notts were playing Fulham at Meadow Lane and were winning 5-0 at half time “Mike “Eddie” Edwards scored 2, the Fulham supporters who had filled the Sirrel stand all walked out at half time, they all threw their scarfs and shirts in a pile as they left, I went to look at the pile and there was also people’s shoes, and some bags containing wallets and purses with money, I notified a steward that they ought to be collected so they could be claimed but before anything was done Notts fans were rifling through the belongings and taking stuff, someone was trying on a pair of carpet slippers he’d found and of course the scarfs were popular as they were black and white.

The ref abandoned the game and it was declared a draw by the EFL even though we were 5-0 up!

What a strange dream, I don’t usually remember them but this was vivid.

Good evening.

It's been an overcast day here & it was a little cold this morning.

Bought a new Xmas tree this morning. We do have a big tree we've had for over ten years that's seven foot tall & it takes lots of baubles & lights to fill it.

We are both not in the best of health, so we thought it better to get a smaller tree, that also has lights on it, & we won't need to use all the baubles this year.

We always dress the tree around thanksgiving. That's a special day in the US at the end of November, so our Xmas tree is usually up around 6 weeks or so.

Checked it out when I got home and it looks good & the lights work.

During early afternoon, went in the garden and removed all the dead & dying flowers & trimmed down our apple trees somewhat.

So all in all two good jobs completed today.

Morning all, a cold start at 4 degrees.

Our cat is banished to the utility room at night where she has a night time bed, she very often brings us little presents of mice she’s caught, I usually bury them in the garden, recently something has been digging the dead mice up, whatever it is must have a keen sense of smell to discover the mice under the soil. It isn’t the cat doing it because she has no further interest after the mouse is dead, she just likes to play with them, if it isn’t moving she’s not bothered.

So we wondered what on Earth could be digging up the dead mice, maybe a fox or worse case a rat. In order to find out I’ve put a wild life camera out where I buried the remains of last Monday nights mouse, I’ve not checked it yet but it’ll be interesting to see if anything appears on the video.

Good afternoon.

Nice Sunny Autumnal weather here today. The sub is low but still warm in the sun although the temperature is low.

Looks like the neighbours around us are taking advantage and cutting the grass for the final time this year.

Has anyone written out their Xmas cards yet? The wife was busy doing that yesterday. We always send our Xmas cards away early so it's all done and dusted.

Can't believe the cost of a stamp nowadays. £1:65 for a first class & 85p for a second class stamp. The cost of everything is just going up & up.

In my view, sending parcels within the United States is significantly more affordable, while Royal Mail seems to be on the brink of collapse due to the price. If only they put as much effort into saving it, as they did mess with their post masters.

@Fan of Big Tone: It's difficult to talk about your day(s) when you don't feel things are productive, or it's just work related. I wouldn't feel defeated with the lack of replies, because it is good to have something in general we can talk about. Personally, I mean to but end up forgetting.

---

Yesterday, a friend took me and @cheeky~k8 up to Wilford Hill cemetery. It was nice to get up there, it's been something I have been meaning to do sooner. Unfortunately, I didn't feel well returning and by 2pm I fell fast asleep. Woke up 7ish, still felt crap and then fell asleep again. I think the coldness is hitting me for six, but I should get used to it. There will always be good and bad days.

i feel i just repeat myself most of the time, my day to day life is routine and i feel boring for saying the same thing over and over. even if it's similar i feel it's mundane.

work has picked up which is expected due to christmas, maintenance are in shut down mode.

at 5pm i will be done for the day.

Good morning, it’s a dry chilly start here, thank you to those who have taken the time to post on the weekly chat, it’s nice to read what’s going on in people’s lives even if it’s repetitive drivel.

I was thinking of going for a run today but I don’t feel up to it so I’ll have a brisk walk while Mrs. T is having coffee with her mates, she can’t walk fast these days bless her so it’ll be a good opportunity to get a bit of pace into my walk.

We are going away (again) on Saturday to Norfolk this time and yesterday we got the directions and details of the key collection from a very nice lady who owns the holiday cottage, it has a real log fire so we are looking forward to some cosy nights in and bracing coastal walks.

Have a great day folks.

I'm sorry I haven't  posted here. Since returning from our holiday in Skegness I have been fighting a horrible bug.(Hence the brain fog) and have been struggling to function anywhere near normal. Today at last I feel a bit better but am still coughing a lot. That's my excuse.

No need for apologies. Glad to hear you’re feeling better @super_ram your bug could have been covid, we had it a few weeks ago, we had some test kits left and we were positive, there’s a lot of folk had it but thankfully it’s not life threatening now for most people.

I'm focusing on my rehabilitation and getting back on my feet. I know I haven't been around much, but I do check in from time to time without posting. It's not as if any of you will be missing me! 😅 In all seriousness, it’s not the same without PON, and I want to wish Super well too. I'm glad you shared with us the reason for your absence, as it helps ease our worries. That’s why I’m updating everyone and posting here myself. Get better soon, @super_ram. Wishing you a full recovery so you can join us again! No excuses.

Morning all, it’s nice to see you back @CliftonMagpie and yes we have missed you.

Well this morning we have an old friend coming round to visit, sadly he’s a Forest fan so there’ll be a bit of banter going on. We met while at college and have stayed friends since then, our lives have ran parallel he had two boys same as us but his wife has now passed away and he is not in the best of health.

When we were both 19 and met a gorgeous young girl who was the sister of a mutual friend we both fancied her and were rivals for her attention, thankfully (for me) I won and she eventually became Mrs. T.  :clapping:

Good Morning.

It's been a grey morning here & very cold.

Didn't get much sleep last night because they are working to retarmac the main road near us.

We all had letters last week warning us of the impending night noise from the work - apologising in advance for it.

It's good that these roadworks are being done by the night hours, however if a person is in work it will be little awkward.

Looks like they are just doing sections of the road and not the whole length of it.

I can remember when I was a boy they used to tarmac the road on our housing estate, a couple of times in the seven years we lived there.

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a better night @Robbie we are up bright and early because we are off on a weeks holiday to Norfolk, the weather looks as if it will be cold but hopefully we’ll be cosy warm in our rented cottage.

It’s got wifi so I’ll be popping on here as usual. I just hope it’s got a smart tv so I can log on to my Sky Sports account and watch the Notts match, if not I’ll watch it on my laptop.

Have a great day everyone and COYP.

Keep doing this @Fan of Big Tone. I've just noticed that the post now has more than 500 views, so don't think that nobody cares! My gran died recently and I have other family members with severe health issues, so I've lacked the mental and emotional capacity for football and PON this week. But I'm feeling OK today and looking forward to watching the match later on, PiesPlayer permitting! I'm also visiting the UK from next Thursday but won't be at the Newport match as I'd originally hoped.

Apart from that stuff, I've been spending more time on Stardew Valley as it's so soothing. Does anyone else here keep a farm?

Get well soon @super_ram. A friend of mine was off work for a long time with the brain fog, but it does get better eventually. Just don't rush yourself.

@Robbie and @Chris, I've noticed how much UK stamps cost now. Bonkers. I think it might be because Royal Mail's (declining) letter business was split off from their (highly profitable and booming) parcel business and is struggling to pay for itself. A stamp costs 85 cents here depending on the size of the letter, so that's half the price. It might even arrive if you're lucky! Parcels here cost the same as in the UK, but in the UK you can frank them online and save money. But anyway, I'm going to buy a heap of charity cards next week and hand them out in person, as I'm too tight to pay for stamps!

Today, I am focusing on getting jobs done which I never have the time to do.

At some point I will drag myself out, so I can go see my dad. I haven't managed to do this since our family break, and I really want to catch up. There's not a lot on a Saturday that happens when I am not attending a game. It's all work-related mostly, but today does feel cosy to a point.

Did you know, the Royal Mail at times now delivers some Amazon items?

They say that people aren't sending letters as much, but that is simply due to the cost. The higher it goes, the fewer people are willing to spend to send a simple letter, and it's the act of a company that isn't able to adapt with the times. I would assume they are wanting to focus on where the most money is available to them, at the exspence of their more affordable options but requires more time from their staff.

At some point the price will make stamps defunct, at which point they will have to compete more closely with parcel companies - unless they realise that making stamps actually affordable, and of value, would increase the demand for them. At which point will it be too late?

They have recently made the price to print your own stamps online universally the same price.

With the only benefit that you can give your letters, parcels to the mail man doing your round (sometimes it's their partner who drives a van).

I think reducing paper waste is a good idea, but none of the Royal Mail's actions are focused on this and solely come down to money. Just like companies are now prioritising emails over letters. We still live in a time when physical paper counts for something, and I personally would rather send letters in some instances but sooner, or later it will be a thing of the past.

What's very good about these threads is that you can talk about anything that may be happening in your life or just something else totally unrelated.

There are members on here who like history or geography who like to maybe learn something new, so the thread is well worth continuing. And as @DangerousSausage eluded to, the views are quite high so there is interest there.
