Notts played very well today, and it was extra special to see us control the game so well while keeping a clean sheet. It was pretty chilly in the stands, but it was definitely worth it. Doesn’t George Abbott look so much more confident since scoring his first goal for us? Great player. MK Dons also lost to Walsall.

Solid performance against a struggling Accrington team that never really looked to get themselves sorted throughout the game. George Abbott's goal was a thing of beauty. I thought David McGoldrick was trying to get the best goal of the game, with his narrowly missed free kick and the two excellent goals he scored. Still, delighted to see the team win 3-0. It's something at this stage of the season that only helps with form, especially with the introduction of new signings. It allows them to settle in a bit easier, with a little less pressure, and even better, gives a sense of winning.

At Accrington station last night, could not help eavesdropping on a football scout on his mobile...along the lines of we need to buy Jatta but the price #Notts may want, maybe beyond our means.

Not surprising scouts are watching Jatta @Piethagoram, to be honest I imagine a scout, after watching Notts would want to sign several of our players! I think we’re safe this Jan but if he keeps scoring and playing well this season we are likely to get a few testing bids over the summer.

Given that everyone else bar Salford won that was a vital 3 points, there’s a little bit of a gap developing between the play-offs and midtable now, this potentially is very handy for us.

That Abbott goal was special, even better than the one against Cheltenham for me. The level of technique, the distance he travelled to get to the ball, watching it all the way, get one bit of that wrong and it’s probably not a goal. If that is not goal of the season I will be gobsmacked.

 Notts were excellent. Accrington were awful but a lot of that was down to Notts not allowing them to settle. Accrington are relegation candidates and are one of those clubs that if they do get relegated, they won't be back for a while.

A very assured performance against a poor team. Abbott has visibly grown in confidence, and his goals just underline that. Good to get a look at some of the new boys and returnees in the second half. In particular, I think Whitaker was very conspicuous (might have just been the hair though) and he looked very sharp on and off the ball.
