Match Discussion: Game 32 - The Valiants (A)

A disappointing result for sure but I thought we played ok especially in the first half, I think a draw would have been a fair result, we didn’t take our chances and “if ya dinne score, you canna win” or whatever it was Jimmy said all those years ago.

We’ll lose the 2nd spot on Saturday but hopefully we can bounce back on Tuesday.

League 2 table after today's match tonight

Notts still in 2nd place on goal difference, but that could change after Saturday's games.Screenshot_20250213-230423.png

Port Vale had a plan. You could see that the pitch was watered in areas to slow down Notts and disrupt the quick passing that works so well. We missed Jodi and David. They offer that extra bit of quality that is the difference between a narrow win and a narrow defeat.

Port Vale outcoached us in the 2nd half. They adjusted at half time and we were too slow to react. The 2 games against them have been incredibly close but that extra bit of coaching quality has won them both games. Darren Moore is a better coach than SM. That's not a criticism of SM, he's doing a decent job, it just that Moore has that extra bit of experience.
