Friendly International: England 1 Senegal 3

England were beaten for the first time by an African Nation at the City Ground Nottingham on Tuesday evening.

It was also Thomas Tuchel''s first defeat as England Manager.

Is the new England manager under pressure already?

England 1-3 Senegal: Thomas Tuchel suffers his first defeat

ENGLAND 1-3 SENEGAL - IAN LADYMAN AT THE CITY GROUND: If England were dire in beating Andorra 1-0 on Saturday, they were worse in losing here.

Someone is going to say, "It's a friendly" and that we didn't field our strongest team. Or, maybe that Senegal are a good team.

From our perspective, we have to admit that was a poor, poor result. Senegal are always organised, and have a good level of discipline, but England really should be winning these types of games. I can't believe in the comments to the BBC's match report, people are saying things like this.

"I can’t believe that I’m saying this but Tuchel is actually more clueless than Southgate

Picking the likes of Walker goes to show just how utterly corrupt and backward the whole England set up is from top to bottom

I’ve lost all interest in this utter shambles"

There's some even saying we should sit the next World Cup out. 🀣

I can't really comment too much on Thomas Tuchel, but good league managers does not mean they will be good internationally. I hope for our sakes things improve, because we need to stick with the manager, we made our decision to hire Tuchel. Maybe it goes to show the remarkable work Gareth Southgate did, unless people still believe our nation's team is still the best it's been in decades.

Oh, and can you think of a worse way to watch England lose than to be in the City Ground? It only gets more challenging for those who support Notts and were present.

Absolute shambles ! Don't blame Tuchel ,blame the overpaid prima donnas who think they are far better than thay actually are. No sense of urgency,no pride,no idea.A group of individuals who need to learn to play as a team and for each other.

Peps formation & footballing style is beginning to be successfully countered in club football & now international football

Senegal countered the England formation perfectly. Time for England to go back to the drawing board, but under Tuchel no chance.

England wasn't at the races, but it's typical for big countries to suddenly fall apart and have drama moments like this, when all that needs to be done is work harder on the training pitch and make sure the next time the squad goes onto the pitch that they perform better or to as good as they can. It wasn't a good performance, but Senegal deserve praise because they turned the game on its head by coming back into it.

Sometimes I think our nation is one of the biggest poor losers. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

are we ever always perfect? i think we get wrapped up with treating teams considered smaller than ours, that we should be winning them by 3 or more goals. had we drawn would people be complaining? possibly, but england will lose like this. i would worry if we became the manchester united of international football. and only then. rollonfloorlaughing

It’s easy to point the finger at the manager, just as much as it is at the players. But when one or two have an off day, it makes things harder for the rest of the team.

It was unlucky that Senegal were the complete opposite. I thought they played very well. It’s hard to feel bitter about losing to such an organised team, one that clearly played to win when England just couldn’t find their rhythm.

England will struggle at times against tall, physical, and fast teams. Senegal being well-organised made it even tougher. I'm young enough to know that this is the best period we've had in my lifetime. Most likely the strongest since Italia 90.

This is very true, but we do need to highlight the room for improvements.

Football attracts meltdowns and negative despair if you are in poor form or have previously done well in competitions. Expectations will always be high with England, but sometimes I do think we need to accept defeat to a team that played better. Whilst pointing out the room for improvements, I think it shows we haven't got a lot of options in goal, and defensively England does need to be more organised.
