This is a great move for Sam. Southend just missed out on promotion from the National League having lost to Oldham in the playoff final.

Southend will be hoping to go one better this season & go for automatic promotion, but they will be a good bet for a playoff place once again.

I wish Sam Austin lots of luck with his new club, & I will be keeping an eye on Southend & Sam's progress.

I thought Sam Austin was a decent player to have in the squad. I reckon heโ€™ll do well at Southend. He just needed to stand out a bit more for us near the end of the season.

But back when we were in the National League, he was proper good.

Itโ€™s a good move for Sam and for Southend, Sam is a great utility p,Ayer and heโ€™ll do well there. I look forward to see his progress, I was sad to see him leave Notts.

Surprised he didnโ€™t sign with another League 2 club to be honest, as heโ€™s a good player at this level. I think being able to play in a number of positions sometimes worked against him because he never really got a run in one position. And when he did have a little run at wing-back he did pretty well, but then got injured. I'd rather have him at right-wingback over Gordon to be honest.

I agree I can see him doing well for Southend, a really good signing for them.

He wasn't always the best, but he worked hard, and when he did show form, he looked good. Fans often overlook players like this, and I do think we can find better, but I am surprised that we didn't try to sign someone first and then allow Sam Austin to leave. A one-year deal could have given us some more options, instead of requiring more focus on the incoming requirement.

Wishing Super Sammy Auston all the best in his journey at Southend!

Southend have brought in a decent player who should settle in well. Sam Austin always looked keen to score, and even though he didnโ€™t get loads of goals, his drive and runs forward made him a really useful player to have around. I hope he does well there.

i think to be fair, we realised that we could have better squad members. he is very much like adam chicksen to me, i just think he tried to give everything but his last game against afc wimbledon at their ground showed we could do better. i wish him well at southend.
