Trouble at Morecambe FC again

Featured Replies

Jason Whittingham must have meant this Friday when in his statement last week he confirmed the deal would be completed on Friday 18th... Right? It's a good job that FA and National League Board are doing all they can to help (I think they've probably sent him an e-mail).

Complete silence now since that statement last week, he's definitely not out the country with his phone switched off sunning himself by the beach 😬😖

I feel for Morecambe fans, given what happened with Worcester Warriors, the odds don't favour a good ending.

A very sad state of affairs at Morecambe. Even at this late stage I hope that their problems can be resolved in a positive way, but the latest news isn't good.

The National League Board are seemingly more worried about following procedure to a tee than the potential death of a club… I didn’t know until I saw it on the news today but it mentioned how Morecambe has been up for sale since 2022!? 3 years to do a deal (or not do one as the case is) now they’ve got weeks…

Their owner released a new statement yesterday which basically blamed the negative media as to why the club wasn’t sold to the imaginary new group that was suddenly interested in them. Then he blamed Punjab Warriors for going quiet on them, even though they've spent the last year or so trying to buy them! This was on Morecambe's website nearly 2 months ago on June 6th:

Panjab Warriors is delighted to announce that it has received clearance from the English Football League (EFL) to proceed with the acquisition of Morecambe Football Club — marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the club’s proud history. Kuljeet Singh Momi and his Panjab Warriors team will now finalise the deal in the coming days. Since mid-2024, Panjab Warriors have been providing financial support and outlining a vision built on sustainability, inclusivity, and long-term success.

Someone really needs to step in now because it’s so blatantly obvious for whatever reason selling the club is the last thing this current ownership group wants to do.

It is not looking good for Morecambe, but even at this late stage there is still hope that the sale of the club can still go ahead..

If things do take a turn for the worse & the club in it's present form cannot be saved, I'm sure a phoenix club will arise for season 26/27. But let's hope upon hope that won't need to happen.

It’s always felt like their current owner is holding onto the club when he should just sell and move on. He’s causing problems that don’t need to happen.

He’s damaging Morecambe, and it’s time he did the right thing. Let someone else take over and give the club a chance.

Sadly, it looks like things will get worse before they improve.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

That’ll be a huge relief to the fans. I hope they can now move on and get back to playing football.

This is great news for the fans of Morecambe & for football generally. But I hope that lessons have been learned & Clubs around the land will be protected from this sort of thing happening again, by ensuring good governance has to be a prerequisite for owning a football club.

Jason Whittingham and everyone else who was part of the Bond Group should be black-listed from owning a football club now.

Really pleased for them but it should never have got to this point. I wonder if Morecambe have any players contracted? Not really had a pre-season either so it's going to be a real challenge to avoid back to back relegations.
