Here's A Question For Everyone

Featured Replies

Wow, that is a question & a half @Wheelbarrow repair man

I think that the question whether the World would be better off without humans is very complex & comes down to a matter of opinion.

While there are lots of negative things happen in this World due to human existence, there are many positives too.

The human race has been very destructive, but on the other hand humans have been very creative. Does their destructiveness trump their creativeness or vice versa?

I could easily reel off the many positives & negatives of human existence, but I don't think by doing that it would resolve the issue at hand.

At the end of the day, I don't think there is an easy answer . Ultimately, whether a world without humans would be "better" is a matter of personal opinion & values

@Robbie This is a Question I'd like to ask somebody like Sir David Attenborough or Steve Bagshall one of those guys. Just out of Interest if there were No Humans on Planet Earth, who do you think would become the New Dominant Species? Would it be the Great Apes, or another Species Entirely?

Well the planet would be a lot healthier and if other life forms could vote on it, we'd be gone by an absolute landslide (thanks dogs, for your support - I think cats would take their chances and vote with the 99.99% :) ) But at the risk of coming across completely anthropocentric, we are pretty much the world, aren't we? Us 8.23 billion are a work in progress, give us another shot, we might come good yet!

Thanks for your in put @The Anti-Clough . I also asked this same question on another platform I'm on. And one answer I got quite a few times was

There won't be any Humans in a 1,000 years anyway. Interesting Stuff.

Who would become the most dominant species if if there were no humans on earth?

Well, Where the United States & Canada are now there would be tens of millions of Bison roaming the interior & prairies.

In Africa, you'd have tens of millions of Wildebeest roaming the African plains, & tens of thousands of elephants.

You would still have thousands of wild Boar roaming the around what is now England Also wild brown bears would be numerous as well as deer.

There would be tens of thousands, if not millions of Pandas in what is China.

I fact, the whole animal kingdom would absolutely thrive without humans being on the planet.

As far as plant life is concerned there would be massive Forests & Jungles without Humans influence

The World would look very different.

@Robbie You're Not Wrong animal life would Prosper and the Earth would be as you say a totally different place, and a better place for that matter. I do wonder as time moved on and Species began to evolve, would any tread the Path we Humans have? There are many Myths about Lizard People , Dolphins have large brains could Dolphins evolve into a land Species and with the size of their brain see them take over the Dominant Species Title, Which Humans Now Hold?

Or as it's been Suggested will A.I. Human Androids and Robots take over the Earth and Destroy the Human Race? Much like In The Terminator Films. The way things are going the Human Race maybe sealing their own Doom, by creating better and better A.I. Robots and Androids.

You bought up species who lived in the sea.

Just imagine how the season & Oceans would look without fishing, & Whaling.

Whales would dominate the seas & Oceans, as you said, Dolphins are intelligent & would be numerous. The oceans & Seas would be teaming with all kinds of life.

The Skies would be full of bird life, the World would be teaming with insect life

There would be no farming so the appearance of the World would look so different.

We already know that animals communicate. Apes can communicate, reason & make simple tools. Birds have intelligence, they travel large distances to migrate.. How do they do that? It is more than just instinct, they can recognise landmarks, they use the sun & stars to navigate.

Even insects communicate & have intelligence. Bees & Wasps recognize different faces.

It depends on how you look at things.

For animals, it would be easier for them to survive, but at the same time fatalities would increase without vets. Extinction would most likely still occur, but the blessing of no poachers or otherwise cruel individuals would mean it's more natural. The planet would be better off, although at the same time there are things that humans have done in order to protect it; it's just a shame that there has been more damage.

Innovation wouldn't exist without humans.

There would be nobody to offer stewardship of the planet, nor anyone who could try to make improvements.

There would be no arts, languages, or storytelling. No caregiving, volunteering, and many more losses of human kindness, compassion, and cooperation.

The biggest loss would be the lack of a witness to the world knowing there is a universe beyond Earth, no scientific breakthroughs, and no understanding of what makes things work. Animals just see that things do; they can't comprehend why.

@Chris , Fair points, but I think if there were No Humans on Earth it would just revert back to the Natural Way Of Things Survival Of The Fittest .And animals do communicate and have feelings. Elephants Morn their Dead as do Magpies. Whales and Dolphins have their own languages, animals who hunt in packs Wolves Hunting Dogs etc also communicate through Howls Barks and Yips. Looking Deeper into things there seems to be even more reasons the World would be better off, Without The Human Race.

If you put it all in to context the Insect is a very powerful & important force in the World. The vast majority of plant life depend on them.

They are the pollinators. Without them, it would be very hard for life on earth.

We would have to pollinate plants manually which would be very difficult.

I don't think that I can think of any other life form accept for humans that has a negative impact on the planet.

If I had to pick two life forms that are absolutely essential in maintaining life on the Earth is Plant life & Insects .
