Bromley are not without faults, and this is why having good players and depth in the squad comes in handy. They have beaten Barnet and Cheltenham, who aren't exactly the best teams in League Two, at t

This is our 11th game against Bromley. It doesn't feel like 11 games. Anyway.....we drew at home and beat them away last season. The 4-2 away win was one of our best results IMO. Bromley are unbeaten.

  • This will be a tough one. No doubt Andy Woodman watched the game last night and picked out our weaknesses to exploit. Let's hope Martin and the boys are prepared and ready. Probably just as important,

@liampie, I think the decision I'd make against someone like Bromley is move Bedeau up for Tsaroulla and replace Nick with Macari so you have more athletic, taller people to battle it out. Gordon is just too inconsitent, which is a bit of a theme for a lot of permanent players.

Hmmm, seems there's been a flight from the 'we have to be better at being us' idea from the first game

The main way to beat a team like Bromley is to outplay them with better, more skilful players like we did in the 2-4 at their place last season.

The more we think we need taller, more physical players like them we play their kind of game, on their terms and lose our identity in the process. Of course we have to deal with balls into the box, and have to fight in general but the key is good players, well-prepared, playing better than they can.

It was a good game I thought Notts were by far the better side in the first half but the second half we eased off and sat back more, I do agree the subs changed the game. MP said in the after match interview that Bromley brought on tall players all over six foot but we didn’t have a bench to counter that.

Overall I think we can see progression but we do need some more bodies. Dennis scored two great goals one was an assist by Roos by the way but he can’t carry the mantle indefinitely, we either get Jatta back or get someone new up front.

I’m not too despondent I saw plenty of endeavour on the part of the players, hopefully we’ll get there.

I agree with @theAnticlough I don’t think we should get hung up on physicality. We only play Colchester, Bromley and Gillingham who I would argue fall into the category of being sides that basically focus entirely on being psychical. That’s 6 matches from a 46-match season. I certainly wouldn’t say we got bullied by Bromley either though, their goals had a touch of luck but the issue was in the second half we invited the pressure by playing way too deep.

I listened to the post-match interview and I totally get Martin’s point about not having another forward and not being able to make the changes he wanted too. Part of this is just bad luck as assuming AJ really is injured he would’ve been back today. But why are we saying we’ve only got 2 ‘number 9s’ in the building? Does Traore not exist anymore? And when we signed Jarvis the club said he was capable of playing in a number of forward roles.

But if he really thought 2 up top, so we could run the channels, was the answer could Bennetts or Kouhyar not have filled in for 30/40 minutes? Ok not genuine centre-forwards but both are capable runners who could've given the Bromley defence something more to worry about.

Thanks for all your comments, I was limited to the radio yesterday (when I'm watching we tend to lose).

I agree with the general point about matching physical teams - we need to stand up to physical sides when we're out of possession, but we shouldn't fall into the trap of playing the opposition's game. In the transfer market we specifically look for players who are good on the ball, so we shouldn't waste them playing head tennis.

I'm glad there are signs of things coming together a little bit, we're creating chances and scoring goals. That's progress at least. As annoying as it is to drop points, if you'd offered me four points from these two games a week ago I'd have taken them and been grateful for it!

Yeah @menzinho, their first equaliser ultimately came down to an Aljofree misjudgement as the ball was definitely in his zone for clearing. Their 2nd was even flukier.

I'm more concerned that they had a lot of possession and we didn't retain the ball enough. Our game relies on taking responsibility, getting on the ball and passing it well. Among the backlines, I thought Palmer and McDonald did OK, but Bedeau, Aljofree and Norburn didn't get on the ball enough to enable us to dominate.

I think Notts are deliberately not playing Macari, because by not playing, Notts can argue that any punishment can be offset against the time not played

It’s a tough one to take, really. The lads put in a strong shift and deserved more than just a point. Dennis kept their defence busy all game and looks sharper with each outing. Palmer was steady in the middle, keeping things ticking and creating openings.

Bromley came out with more intent after the break, and their bench gave them a lift. Ours didn’t quite change the flow, and once they got level, it felt like it had been coming. Still, picking up four points across two matches isn’t a bad return.

Bromley didn’t look very strong at the start, and while I think we played better than in recent matches, I still believe last season’s squad would have taken control early on. In the first half, we could’ve finished the game off if we’d been more accurate with our chances.

Some of the shots that did hit the target were good enough to win it, and I feel Notts deserved the three points. It’s frustrating because it reminds me of past seasons, where going a goal up doesn’t mean much, there’s always the risk we’ll concede just as easily.

At 2–1, it never feels safe. You start expecting a draw, and sadly, that’s how it turned out. I’m disappointed, but there were signs of improvement too, so I’m trying to stay positive.
