Green Shift Energy

New sponsor of the Family Stand, which is now named after this company rather than Haydn Green. Obviously a lot of people are upset about the renaming and asking questions such as: have Haydn Green's family been consulted? Will Haydn Green's contribution to the club's survival be commemorated in some other way?

I'd also like to know a bit more about Green Shift Energy and how much they are actually paying, though the club would be very unlikely to reveal that. I could just about get that Notts would do this if it were a really big corporate partnership, with a prestigious brand, maybe one with Nottingham connections. Not sure that's the case here - it looks like they were set up last year using a company registration service, are owned by three young-ish guys, have a pretty basic website, and a small office in Newcastle. Does that suggest a big enough commercial opportunity to override Haydn Green's memory? Odd.

I liked the original name to the stand. I thought that the name represented what this Club is all about. A family friendly Club.

A do understand the need for the club to get sponsorship from various sources. The Club is a commercial business & has to generate income where it can, but sometimes I think it is much better to keep an important identity rather than change a name purely for financial gain.

Will we ever see the name of the Meadow Lane Stadium changed in a big sponsorship deal? With this latest development with the renaming of the Family Stand, I wouldn't rule it out in the future.

This looks like an ill thought out and badly misjudged decision. Even if HG’s family were consulted or not.

The Haydn Green legacy is part of the Club’s history and heritage. Without him, there would have been no NCFC.

To remove his name, and not even acknowledge him in the official statement is an own goal of enormous proportions. A large chunk of the fan base know how important the man was and how significant his name is in our Club.

The stand will always be the Haydn Green stand to me.

No amount of sponsorship should wipe away part of the fabric and culture of the Club. It must be feasible to balance the two - I know how important revenue is but you can’t sacrifice everything at the altar of sponsorship. It’s like selling your soul.

I’m one of many, I suspect, who are disappointed and concerned by this decision.

I’m going to the Cheltenham match in a few weeks and that’s at the 'EV Charger Points Stadium', it does sound ridiculous but everyone still refers to it as Whaddon Road. I not a massive fan of totally commercialising at a cost of losing our identity and history but I get the point that for lower league clubs that struggle to make money it feels like a necessary evil right now.

I guess when the sponsorship deal ends it’ll go back to being the Haydn Green Family Stand, and there’s nothing stopping fans from referring to it as this but I totally get the point about a bit of marked history gone. It's not a great look.

I imagine this scenario....the club uses Green Shifts expertise for nil outlay and they get the stand advertising!!!

But it will always be the Haydn Green family stand to me and the vast majority of us proper supporters....
