A fantastic win for Notts tonight against a tough promotion rival in MK Dons. Twice behind in the first half, Notts show great character to finish up as the Victors.

I have chosen the first eleven that started the match for you to choose your PON Man of the Match.

Those players are,

Roos, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Tsaroulla Norburn, Iorpenda, Bennetts, Grant, Dennis, Jatta.

The forward players all did well, special mention to Bennett’s, Dennis and Jatta but my man of the match was Iorpenda who was unlucky with a strike that hit a post and then scored the winner which was his first senior goal I believe.

It'd be mean not to give it to Iorpenda. Catharsis for him. After that freakish miss in the first half, you could see how much it meant to him. His all-round game was strong anyway and it was a good shout by the sponsor to make him MoM.

I wonder what will change for him now he has that monkey off his back - his first ever senior goal.

Loved Dennis' involvement - I think he has to play regularly again. Also Bennetts did very well.

I missed the winner as I had to get the last train. Iorpenda for me too.

Bet you were gutted when you heard the roar of the crowd halfway down London Road. 😁

What a match, the ups and downs of supporting this wonderful team. One down in less than 3 minutes, then a phenomenal goal from Mr Dennis only to fall foul of a 50/50 typical wrestling match and the official (another not very good one at that) gives a penalty 2-1 down. Mr reliable then puts us back to 2-2 and all within the first 25 minutes, not to mention Mr Iorpenda and his unfortunate miss. Time to take a breath it's half time. Mixed up second half, with both teams working for that finish, enabling a further climb up towards the division 2 summit. In the 88th minute Tom comes up with the goods and the ground erupts, what fantastic celebrations. Then knocked back down to earth with the showing of a further 9 minutes to endure, nightmare. But all comes to those who have to wait, another deserved win under our belts. COYP.

What a superb team effort 👌

With the chance to watch the film for their penalty, it's clear that it was very soft indeed. Neither Notts player involved did all that much and you have to assume it was given against Grant. Their player went down theatrically whoever it was that was supposed to have fouled him.

So that, added to the non-sending off of Nemane, meant that we were right to give it to the ref at HT and at the end still. He could have cost us 3pts and that means a different looking table at the end of the season.

The Notts team including the substitutes worked their socks off to get this fantastic result. Every player played their part.

Special mention to Roos, who carried on with his improved form, Norburn, who I thought had his best match for Notts, the three goalscorers who all took their opportunities well, the Notts defensive three who remained solid in the 2nd half & the substitutes that all played their part.

Three players stood out for me, Norburn, Jatta & Iorpenda, with Roos not far behind. I'm going to go for Iorpenda who I believe is growing in every game he plays. A special mention for Martin Paterson who has instilled qualities into the squad that could help win success this season.

A point to mention re:Iorpenda I think, is that he got his first goal (and the earlier chance) from defensive midfield.

Norburn hardly ventured over the halfway line, which is fine, so Tom had licence to support the attack from deep and join in at set pieces. I think he should stay there. Now the monkey's off his back, he could chip in 4 or 5 from that position. His mobility and athleticism also mean he's an ideal midfield partner for Palmer and Norburn. And we've seen that he combines very well with Robbo. It also gives the opposition a real headache having to account for him joining the attack from deep and sometimes late.

It sounds like Palmer will be out til Jan almost, so we need Tom there til then probably.

Once this season we had Jatta, Dennis and Iorpenda as the front 3, all on top of their games, and it was awesome. One game is all I can remember for that. This might still be a good formula for the run-in, if Jatta stays and we don't land a new, 1st choice no.10 in the window. For now though TI is doing great in CM and he should stay there IMO.

i think if i am to go for their whole performance and contributes, then i have to say nick tsaroulla.

he started well and gave notts hope going forward after the opening set back. he worked hard, did his role and more importantly got us playing without confining play to just the wing. i thought keanan bennetts had a classy game too. i would also say the midfield did a very solid job. with kelle roos making some crucial saves at key moments. defending could do with being tighter, but thats pressure for us as mk dons looked exactly the same at the back.
