Return to the Moon.

Is anyone watching the progress of the Artemis 2 Moon mission? Artemis is carrying 4 Astronauts to the Moon & back. They won't be landing on the Moon, but will circle the Moon, then return to earth, just as the Apollo 8 mission did in 1968.

You can follow the mission on You tube

Yes, I’ve been following the progress of Artemis II, I didn't stay up to watch the launch but I caught up with it all the next morning. There was a great clip I think of the BBC's science correspondent reporting live at the launch and her childish instincts took over because she was just in total awe of it all, you could tell that it meant a lot to her.

I was reading about the Artemis programme and if everything goes to plan Artemis III will launch next year and then Artemis IV will see human's back on the moon. All in preparation to eventually get to Mars, which would be pretty incredible to see.

The whole thing has a political undertone about it, but it's still cool. Russia and China are working together to get to the moon. It's a new space race, but I am a bit concerned about human interference with such an important part of our solar system. That tints the mission somewhat, but the politcal side needs to be avoided (so I will shut up).

On a different note, I saw some flat-earthers have a meltdown while watching the live transmission.

I highly recommend it: grab some popcorn and watch some hutter madness as to why it's fake. Why we can't get out of our own orbit and all that other uneducated nonsense. 🍿rollonfloorlaughing

Awesome footage from the far side of the moon taken by the crew of Artemis 2.

They’ve splashed down safely thankfully, the heat on the capsule was 2,000 degrees, half as hot as the sun, how the heck do they build something to withstand that heat! Amazing.
