A very abject performance today from Notts. There is no other way to describe it.

So who came out of that match for Notts with any credit in your opinion?

Those players I have included for you to choose the best of the rest are?

Belshaw, Macari, Ness, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Palmer, Norburn, Bennetts, Grant, Iorpenda, Ndlovu, Browne, Hall

Perhaps we should rename it who’s your least worst player of the match. No one deserves any credit from that.

I'm going to give my award to Luke Browne. He came on as a substitute in the 57th minute & I think that he tried his best when all of the other senior players didn't turn up.

I thought Matty Palmer was almost average so he's my MotM

As Captain he should be leading on the field at all times and especially when the team isn't performing. Notts need a leader that will take the game by the scruff of the neck. He's just not that type unfortunately.

Hard to pick anyone tbh - tough gig and we failed to turn up, individually and collectively.

I think any player would be embarrassed to pick up a MOTM award. Far easier to list players who weren’t anywhere near tbh.

Thus, I’m abstaining on this occasion. It is too difficult, arbitrary and my head is hurting too much to name a MOTM.

I think that we should give credit to Cambridge for their performance. Their desire and intensity was spot on & Notts couldn't deal with it & the way they played against us. Unfortunately under and thoroughly deserved their victory. We move on & I'm sure Notts will try to put it right next Saturday against Barnet. We are still in fourth place after 43 games & we still have a chance of automatic promotion.

I agree@YoopEyes the award motm doesn't apply to this game. Just watched back the full match replay and Cambridge aren't even that good. They are another Bromley. Physically strong players that get the ball into the box at every opportunity all 4 goals from set plays. It seems a sad fact of life that trying to play football in League two doesn't get you promoted.

@Robbie I’m sure we all do appreciate you creating this MoM topic so please don’t feel sad because some of us are hurting and don’t feel it appropriate to vote.

I'm sure he doesn't take it personally that we're still upset about yesterday. Might have been a good idea to add "the fans" as an option though!

I don't take any lack of voting personally. The way I look at it is whether the players contribute to a brilliant team performance or a very poor one, like we saw against Cambridge, there has to be a player that emerged above the rest for Notts on the day.

There will always be a winner no matter what the circumstances are that will either count as a single win or sharing a win. Whether they win with one vote or 50 votes, it still counts as a win.

I also think that we have to give our opponent credit for there performance on the day. Listening to Cambridge's head coach, he was very pleased with his team's performance. Sometimes our opponents can be too good for us on the day.

This. Everyone's got the right to abstain, but it's always predictable that some fans refuse to give ratings or pick a MoM in a bad defeat.

Never enters my head not to vote. 'Best' can be 'least worst' at times, I'm still going to pick somebody

I agree with you on the captaincy. I think he should've handed over the armband last season as soon as he came back from injury. Better to concentarte on his game. Even Belshaw would be a better option now.

But I didn't factor that in when picking him. I suppose he led by example again in getting on the ball and at least trying to knit the play together. Unlike his partner who was shockingly anonymous for that first 30mins. Only surpassed in that failing by Grant.

Back to the skipper, the worst bit of captaincy yesterday was allowing Bennetts to take the free kick following the sending off.

My daughter will testify that I lost it completely both before and after, screaming nooooooooo, not Bennetts, it's going over the stand again.

I was so disgusted with that. Especially with a stone cold rookie keeper between the sticks. Unforgiveable!

Another abstention from me too. It still hurts

I must admit, I’m puzzled by the veiled criticism of those who choose not to vote on this occasion - first time I recall it happening. Thus, I’m not sure how it can be “predictable” that some people have abstained.

Why does there have to be a MOTM, come what may? It’s a totally arbitrary, subjective decision. There is no compulsion for an individual to be singled out in a team event, in any game tbh let alone a desperately poor collective performance.

If you feel the need to name a MOTM irrespective of nobody earning or deserving it, that’s entirely a personal matter. Seems odd to imply that others have failed in their responsibilities.

Oh dear, I don't know how anyone can respond to my 'everyone's got the right to abstain' with a set of OTT comments like that.

The whole thread is just a bit of fun on the best (or least worst!) player on the day. Chillax! )

Well, it’s all cool here, no problem.

It’s not OTT - just a different perspective, particularly in respect of the “predictability” reference, that’s all. It may well not have been intentional but it sounded a tad patronising. Happy to leave it at that & move on. I just read it differently to spirit intended.

The poll has now closed. We have a tie for first place this week.

I'm pleased to announce that Matt Palmer & young Luke Browne share the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match award against Cambridge.
