So i thought i'd start a topic about my Team over here. I'm now in love with them as much as i am with Notts County FC:

 

Here is a Little Break down on our Little Football Team.

Our First game of the Season was last Saturday (Sorry I'm late ha ha). Was a very dissapointing Game but as the Reports say's we've taken alot of positives.

Ottawa Fury FC picked up their first point of the NASL season Saturday night in Atlanta as goalkeeper Romuald Peiser backstopped his side to a 1-1 draw against the Atlanta Silverbacks that saw Nicki Paterson net his first of the season for Ottawa.

 

"Our guys deserved much better tonight," Fury FC Head Coach Marc Dos Santos said following the game. "We fought to get the win in a very difficult field and unfortunately we only get on point from this." 

 

"This is an important point as we played two away matches to start the season and we will use this point as momentum for our home opener next week." 

 

While Dos Santos was expecting a battle in Atlanta, it was a tame start to the match as Ottawa and Atlanta exchanged opportunities, but nothing that threatened either goalkeeper.

 

In the 34th minute Nicki Paterson would break the deadlock off a seemingly harmless free-kick. The set piece from 20 yards out found its way through a sea Fury FC and Silverbacks players inside the six yard box and found a space at the back post to send Ottawa into the lead.

 

The goal gave Fury FC some jump in their step as they would own a majority of the pace throughout the rest of the opening half and would carry the one-goal lead into the break.

 

Ottawa look to carry that momentum into the second half, but off a counter attack the Silverbacks would net an equalizer in the 57th minute through Canadian forward Kyle Porter. Fury FC player protested a missed offside on the goal, but the goal would stand to pull Atlanta level.

 

Porter's goal ignited the Atlanta offence, but despite numerous opportunities to net the go-ahead goal, Romauld Peiser was their to deny the Silverbacks every time - denying Porter again on two separate occasions.

 

Ottawa would produce opportunities of their own, but Oliver, Wiedeman and Heinemann were unable to beat C.J. Cochran for a second time who looked vulnerable in the Atlanta goal. 

Fury FC return home to host the 2014 NASL Regular Season Champions Minnesota United FC in their home opener at TD Place on April 18 before hosting FC Edmonton in the first leg of the preliminary round of the Amway Canadian Championship on April 22. Tickets available at OttawaFuryFC.com.

Championship! But he MLS has a Closed Shop so we just play for the Title.

 

Perhaps one day, We'll be in the MLS.

Looking to get back in the win column, Ottawa Fury FC had to settle for a scoreless draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at TD Place on Saturday despite a strong overall performance from the injury-plagued squad.

“We know that in this league, if you don’t lose and if you earn points, every little point adds up for a post-season spot,†said Ottawa Fury FC Head Coach Marc Dos Santos.

For the second straight match Fury FC tangoed with one the top sides in the NASL and to no surprise the match start like that of a chess match. Ubiparipovic would produce the first chance of the match off a free-kick, but Matt Pickens made a diving stop. 

Moments later it was his counterpart Romuald Peiser's time to shine as he denied Darnell King. Minutes later Peiser and Alves would come together to make a key stop, but both went down injured on the play. Alves would come out of the match for a brief period and would eventually be forced from the match due to the leg injury seeing Mauro Eustaquio earn his first minutes of the NASL season and pushing Drew Beckie into Alves' vacant role on defence after he started in midfield. This was a tough blow for Fury FC since they were already dealing with injuries to Tom Heinemann, Richie Ryan, Philippe Davies, Mike Randolph and Oliver prior to the contest.

Despite the different line-up appearance, the chemistry continued for Ottawa with multiple opportunities coming in the offensive zone in the first half. Forward Andrew Wiedeman had the best opportunity late in stoppage time, but he popped the ball just wide.

The second half started similar to the first with neither side willing to concede time and space in the midfield. Fury FC would find another gear and would start to dictate the tempo for the duration of the second half with Poltronieri, Haworth, Ubiparipovic and De Guzman all making great runs forward as Ottawa threatened the Tampa back line. 

In the 78th minute, off a Fury corner, shouts were made for a hand ball inside the box, but no call was made much to the dismay of Fury players and supporters. 

Ottawa would keep the pressure on late as both Ubiparipovic and Poltronieri found themselves in scoring positions inside the box, but neither were able to get a clean shot off as Ottawa and Tampa played to a scoreless stalemate in the scorching heat at TD Place. An impressive performance from Ottawa's back line that saw Drew Beckie named Heart and Crown Man of the Match.

A Little Fall Season preview from our Resident Jurno/Blogger; Stuart Mactaggart:

 

As the FIFA Women’s World Cup nears its end, the North American Soccer League will begin its Fall Season, and Ottawa Fury’s stadium at Lansdowne Park will  see the beginning of both the NASL and the CFL (Canadian Football League).   This of course means Fury will need to play their matches with large advertisements on the pitch, occasionally with gridiron lines overlapping, and more Sunday matches; but that is all a part of being a partner in OSEG (Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group).   With better weather, the hype of the World Cup in town and hopefully the return of winning ways, there are hope attendances will improve along with the performances on the pitch.
