I said I would never do this but today I have subscribed to Sky Sports.

We have BT for our phone, Broadband and TV, so I noticed on BT Vision you can order Sky Sports for a month, no yearly subscription, just pay for a month then cancel. So I bit the bullet (much as I hate give money to Rupert Murdoch) and ordered it for a month so I can watch Sheff Utd v Notts. next Friday. Yes I know I should go but I'm not really keen on travelling away especially for a night match.

Anyway it was £15 for the month and I reckon that is a lot cheaper than travelling to Sheffield buying a ticket and paying for diesel for the car. The other option was to go to a pub somewhere but again I don't really fancy that I can never concentrate on the match and the sound is invariably turned down or it is so noisy you can't hear the commentary. This way I can enjoy the match with a few glasses of homebrew and a curry in the comfort of my own armchair.

So that's it I have confessed, apologies to my former print union colleagues, I feel I have let you down but I will cancel after a month honest and I will NEVER EVER buy the Sun.

I hope your not let down.

It's a good offer, value wise it's impressive but I know many who have been let down by the speeds and reliability of BT. I can safely say now if you start disappearing, it will be me on the phone to them and not you!:lol::angel:

Enjoy the football, I know I wouldn't watch it as much if I did. I used to watch Setanta (@weymouthPIE) and I only really watched the odd game. I was more interested in watching the lower down football, Non League and L2/L1 - I liked the coverage but I am not very big on sky's. I think they play around with the cameras far to much and tend to choose people who go on.

It was activated today and so far it seems ok, Mrs. Hateley was using the computer while I was watching it, I have heard that this might affect the speed but it didn't seem to, so far so good.

I watched part of a very good documentary about Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier which dealt with the rivalry between the two. it was was very good but I had to leave it to go shopping, thinking about it I should have recorded it.

my parents went from that other company to do with bt to sky, we have not had issues but a couple of friends have that vision package and all they do is moan about the service being poor.

i cant really comment but it would be nice to watch more football regardless of leagues. enjoy sky @tonyhateley

We've signed up to that BT Sport channel as we already have the phone and Broadband with BT. Given the cost of SKY we might have to get rid of the sports channels altogether. £40odd a month is a lot when you only have one income. I'm looking for jobs myself but there's absolutely nothing down here.

Sky is an odd one. I was saying to Joe on facebook last night, on the one hand I really dislike Sky Sports and everything they stand for when it comes to modern football; ie the way they dont worry about the fans and change kick off times willy nilly, over dramatise everything, the propoganda of the premiership being the best league ever etc. Yet at the same time I couldnt imagine not having it.

I miss the old Setanta Sports channel. They used to do a hell of a lot of non-league coverage. The good thing was too they wouldnt force clubs to change kick off times if they could help it. They aired quite a few 3pm kick offs. I can remember one of the last games they aired before they want bust was down here at Weymouth. Weymouth v Altrincham, final day of the 2007-08 Blue Square Premier season. Altrincham needed to win and hope Halifax last to stay up,  but if we had lost and Halifax had won, we would have been relegated. It was a pretty dramatic game, ending in a 2-2 draw and both sides ended with 10 men. Although ironically Altrincham stayed up anyway when Halifax went into administration.

Woops, gone off topic slightly
