Game 19 - The Glovers (A)

Team: Yeovil Town

Date: 21/11/17

Where: Huish Park

What line-up should Kevin Nolan opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

After the last two league games for Yeovil, I expect them to put a performance together. Hopefully this won't be Tuesday, but the best team will win. I am not sure we can start Ameobi and Stead again together.

Save them for Saturday.

Yeovil are exactly the type of team this season we tend do well against.

The only issue the fact that they tend to play well again us, I don't know why, they just always seem to do well. I think there will changes made, but I think Forte coming on to replace Ameobi would keep his legs fresh. After Steads performance on Saturday, I think he warrants to start and I do think he will score. Just keep the pressure off ourselves and we will be fine.

We don't need to make many changes, plenty of time to recover in time for the next game.

It'll be a tricky game, what with it being just three days after the last one, and a trek to boot, Nolan will probably make several changes, but I still think we'll come good, 2-1 win.

Interesting to see Forte not playing, I would have given him the nod myself.

Mark Stallard believes his performance starting has knocked him back, yet he said he's still a vital part of the squad which goes against those attempting to start rumours. I don't think much of it right now, but lets hope the lack of pace up top isn't an issue. It seems kinda flat so far, lets get a spark! #COYP

Great to see Forte get a goal not long after coming off the bench, despite being marginalised (Smith and Alessandra ahead of him in the pecking order? really?) he's just getting on with the job and delivering when called upon. Notts should really push for a second though and just kill the game off.

As I mentioned he should have started IMO.

People go on about his performance but most came during the dry patch we had, plus there was a limitation within the service he and other players received. If he responds better after being challenged, well find a way to set targets within individual games. I love the fact he scored! It shows that he's still an important player, its just a case of playing him.

I really think Notts needs a second goal, I'm just a bit wary that Yeovil might break late on and pull level.

As I mentioned Yeovil are using their pace which is an advantage over us, so really it's a good thing that Forte is up top. I just hope that Stead is okay as he doesn't need to recover from any injuries, it seems to take him longer to find form now.

1-0 Notts - COYP!

i feel robbed but i would have taken the point at the start of the game. i just think we need to cut the mistakes out, duffy seems like a chicken at times and hes cost us 2 points tonight.

I really don't feel Duffy is someone who can lead us at the back, I don't disagree that he has improved but I just don't think he's good enough. When he was given the captaincy, I just didn't get why. I'm not bothered about the result, I respect the point and I have said it's a decent result.

Yet we should have won, and would have done without a silly challenge.

I'm hopeful we sign a solid CB for this league in January, whilst I hope we give someone else the armband. Yeovil aren't a bad side, and like I called I felt they would pinch a point. At the time it seemed to be all favouring us though, yet my gut just said that it would happen. It's kinda disappointing, yet we can't be deflated by the result. Yet If we aim to escape this division we can't accept weak or poor defending.

Bring on the next league game, we'll be fine.

I'm fundamentally happy with a point away but it should have been three. If you make a challenge like Duffy's you need to make sure you take the ball with you. Duffy's general play is fine but he still needs to cut out the clangers. With Hollis clearly out of favour and Bird probably still a bit raw for League football we could do with another good CB to provide competition for places, because at the moment we don't really have an alternative to Brisley and Duffy.

The first half was an even affair. I thought Yeovil looked better than their league position suggests, I've certainly seen worse teams than them. Up to their goal we were on top in the second half, but even then we tested their keeper little. I feel we missed the cool head of Stead/Ameobi. We seemingly decided to go long again for this match and it was frustrating to see us simply return possession to Yeovil time and again.

Never mind, we got a point. As long as we keep winning at home we can live with that.

Need to find a win away from home quite soon, otherwise it might start to become a burden and that will put pressure on the home form, with a harder game than I thought coming up on Saturday as Colchester appear to have found a bit of form recently.

Never been a fan of Duffy's, but at least his mistakes are fewer this season. I would still look to replace him in January as there are better players out there who would make us very solid at the back. It also looks as though we will be getting a new striker in January as JF was overlooked again and only brought on because Nolan had no choice.

Duffey????...all i am saying is give Bird a chance!!!!

Fitzsimmons - 6 - Didn't really have anything to do.
Toots - 7 - Solid defensively and an option going forward
Brisley - 6.5 - Couple of iffy moments but generally solid.
Duffy - 4 - Generally OK but to give a penalty away like that is really idiotic.
Dickinson - 4.5 - Still can't pass. Aimless balls.

Hawk - 6 - Some good touches.
Yates - 7 - Thought he was really improving with his passing in the first half but second half was back to normal. Tackled well.
Milsom - 6 - Steady
Grant - 4.5 - Was really bad today. Wasteful and some really terrible touches. Off-day.

Stead - 6.5 - Thought he played well whilst he was on.

Alessandra - 5 - Anonymous
Forte - 7 - Dangerous when he got a sniff of the ball.

Yeovil were a really, really poor side. We should be putting them away easily. Today showed that if Stead & Ameobi aren't involved, and Grant isn't firing, we haven't got a lot of other options.

If we are looking for a decent centre half, thought Yeovil's Omar Sowunmi would be a great choice to consider

Despite all the hard work again we nearly threw the points away.

That is the positive from yesterday's game along with the second half performance. We need to be more clinical upfront, yes Notts may be overachieving but if we was totally out of our depth the run would not have happened for as long as it has. Good undefeated at home during 2017 and Notts have a good marketing tool for next season.

I would just like to see the errors being drilled out, as I say Colchester should have got a point.
