  1. Yes, we're going to need him. I wouldn't have given him MoM, but nobody else was going to do anything to stop us losing, except Will Jarvis Our attacking midfielders will need addressing in January. But players being used there now can be either underperforming or unproductive (or both) and when both are off, it makes it very difficult to win. I think MP will have to try a couple of different things in that role because Hall and Grant are not McGoldrick and Crowley. Let's see Jarvis given a go there, Kouhyar, Dennis from the start to at least see it. But at least we're going to be seeing more of Jarvis from now on. MP will want him on the bench at least because he knows now atht he's a player who can turn things around.
  2. I am having a difficult time with my laptop's keyboard; I think I need to replace it, and that leaves me wondering how I will be able to do the related tasks. I have a detailed setup now on here, and it includes a lot of apps that make my workflow easier. These past few weeks, I have been implementing ways to be more organised, and now this. 😒 To top things off, this morning I have been doing server-related chores, and then when I came to come on here. I learned that Cloudflare are experiencing a major outage, which has affected a lot of the internet with downtime. Ironically, it includes "x," which was very quickly prioritised over other clients and smaller sites. It seems we are back, but I might need to borrow my wife's laptop in the meantime.

  8. Good morning it’s a lovely bright start to the day but a tad chilly at only 3 degrees. 🥶 We are going to wrap up and go for a walk, we need a few bits from Morrisons so we’ll do a circular route to get our daily step target. How is everyone? What does the day have in store for you?
  9. Update. My waste pipe to the kitchen sink has been fixed so we are back in business, as they say, once again. The Plumber had to get some parts from Screwfix to complete the job, but everything seems fine.

  16. Oh dear @Robbie i bet that was a bit of a shock. I hope you get it sorted, it’s a good excuse not to wash up though. 😉 I’m surprised you haven’t got a dishwasher, we got a small slimline on a year or so ago, it’s just big enough for the two of us and it’s brilliant, we just dump the pots in it when we’ve finished with them and whe t’s full switch it on and hey presto a few hours later they are shiny clean. In other news it’s a bit brass monkeys out there the temperature dropped to 0.6 overnight, which has reminded me that I need to cover up the outside tap, I don’t want it freezing.
  17. Agree, let's go back to crowds of 3.5k where we could a cursory wave to the next supporter sitting 10 to 15 seats away from oneself 🤣 My takeaway is that the post match "technical boards" may actually be working and Montague's input may in fact, have helped bring in Jarvis "from the cold"
  18. My takeaway thought from the match is not to get tickets for the back of the pavis stand, not only is it exhausting getting up there but it takes ages to get out as everyone lower down get on the stairways first. My takeaway on the actual match is that I hope MP gives Jarvis a run in the team.
  19. You’re lucky my early season form never started.

  21. Good Morning all. It's a beautiful morning here. Who'd have thought we've had two weeks of constant rainfall. We are both busy this morning in the garden. Last lawn cut, and picking up the leaves and a general tidying up. Some of our flowers held on until last night but I think the frost has done for them. It is very chilly out and we are well wrapped up for the task.

  23. So what are your takeaways from the draw against Harrogate? In my opinion, Notts did well to force the draw in the end after a spirited & hard working Harrogate performance. Notts continue to struggle against sides that employ a high press & sit back & challenge Notts to break them down. Martin Paterson is the latest Notts Coach that is faced with this. Kudos to Paterson for changing things in the 2nd half & the substitutes did make a difference to the intensity of the Notts play. It is clear that Jatta needs support upfront with players that can link up with him. I think Martin may have learned a lot from the first & second halves of the Harrogate match. I think that we may see more of Dennis, Jarvis & Kouhyar featuring in the starting eleven & it is clear that Matt Palmer is very important to Notts in the centre of Midfield.
  24. This documentary is on Sky Documentaries at 8.00 pm tonight. It tells the story of Russell King and the Munto takeover of Notts County. It should be a good watch.
  25. Did anyone watch this match, it was crazy. Scotland need a win to qualify for the World Cup. Scotland went 1-0 up early on with a great bicycle kick goal from McTominay, Denmark equalised with a pen in the second half, a dubious decision after a foul which was deemed to be just inside the box, after a lengthy wait for var. Denmark had a player sent off for a second yellow and Scotland went 2-1 up, 4 minutes later on 82 mins Denmark equalised again. In 90+3 minutes Scotland went ahead 3-2, then on 90+8 mins with Denmark chasing an equaliser and Kasper Schmeichel out of his goal, McLean scored from 35 yards. To put Scotland through to the World Cup finals. What a match.
  26. I'm pleased that Scotland won the match & have qualified for the WC. I didn't see the match but I did see their match against Greece a few days ago when Scotland lost 2:3. That was a very entertaining match too. Scotland last qualified in 1998 so I'm sure there will be lots of celebrations throughout the Scottish nation.

  28. For me a takeaway from the Harrogate game is that Martin Paterson’s previous comments about the door being closed for one or two players, doesn’t include Will Jarvis.
  29. It’s an incredible story, Russell King was/is a very clever man, he even managed to dupe heads of government, he lived a lavish lifestyle on other people’s money ruining people’s lives along the way, the trail even went as far as North Korea when he took Sven with him to try and set up a minerals deal. The take over of Notts County was only a small part of what he was involved in. It’s a shame he used his talents in such a nefarious way. It’s well worth a watch if you get chance.
  30. Washing the evening dinner pots was a little different tonight with a big surprise when the floor became soaked with water. The waste pipe became detached from the kitchen sink. Looks like we need some new parts to fix it. It's good that we have plumbing & drain cover with our energy supplier, so we were pleased to get an appointment between 8am & 6pm.tomorrow.
  31. Just like league 2, this league is very competitive. Anyone from the top 17 still has a good chance of challenging with a good two or three weeks. It's back to the drawing board from a few of us.
  32. I think this fan shirt is fund-raising for the club one step too far. I am happy to support the the club and buy merchandise to raise funds, but there is a limit to what you can buy and at £50 a shirt and more for families you begin to feel a little bit exploited, especially for something that is not really needed.
  33. I do believe that a substitute can become a man of of the match if they come on & change the game. Palmer, Dennis & Jarvis made a difference when they came on.
  34. Agreed @Piethagoram, that's probably what happened. The shirt certainly looks like it was intended to be worn during matches, with the current badge and sponsor on it. It looks like this will join the 2009-10 Vandanel shirt (the one Munto ditched for Nike) in the ranks of "Notts shirts that never were". Not one I find appealing, but maybe a curiosity in years to come.

  38. They keep recycling this story every few years. Why don't they make a documentary about the monopoly money that is the Premier League & why the 75 plus sides in the EFL cannot compete with this money train?
  39. If Matt Palmer had played more than just the second half, I think he would be up there because he massively helped us to get clicking. With all due respect to Tom Iorpenda, we clearly missed Palmer in the first 45 minutes. Scott Robertson was class throughout the game, calm on the ball, and bridging the gap that was missed by Palmer's absence in the first half, to showing that magic he has alongside someone who brings the best out of him. He looked strong on the ball and worked hard. He's notably improved since he came back, and he gives us a solid presence with his consistent performances. Yes, this is what I said to @super_pie. Early on for me it was Lucas Ness and Keanan Bennetts. Discussing with Jake, Nick Tsaroull and Scott Robertson was added to the mix. This was around the 30 minute mark, which is usually when I start to look for who has that 'drive' in their performance. Early yes, but the signs are there.
