6 pointsReckon he wants a keeper and couple of attacking players who can press and know where the goal is. But he must be desperate to have Jatta, Robertson, Tsaroulla and Norburn available, pretty sure they are all starters6 points

5 pointsMartin Paterson has hinted at wanting a seasoned goalkeeper since the Alfreton Town match, and now that the German tour is done, it seems more likely we’ll see a move. We need someone solid and experienced between the posts. It’s one of those key positions that can be the difference between promotion and falling short, just like having reliable goal-scorers. Replacing Alex Bass isn’t just important, it’s essential.5 points

5 pointsIn a word it was Martin's best interview yet as Notts Head Coach. He's been able to observe how the team have performed over the four friendly matches, & He says he knows where he needs to strengthen the team. It's also very interesting to see him play Jarvis & Jones in the number 10 attacking midfield role & he says he's looking at that possibility. I myself have been asking for Jodi to be given a go in that role because I think he has the talent to do well there. I think everybody knows where we need those new players A, B, C & maybe D. After hearing Martin tonight I'm confident that we are going to see those arrivals at Notts in the coming week or so.5 points

4 pointsYeah, our needs seemed to be recognised by all. A GK and attacking, creative midfielder are top of the list. And another striker, I guess. The timings not ideal though, is it? Most of the free agent action has been done already. Gagliardi and co. will be dealing with ever-changing lists and a factor will be time - the longer we leave it the greater the negative impact on our promotion chances. We can be sure they will be bringing these players in ,when they bite the bullet and commit to a direction, and it's going to be fascinating which players are introduced to us in the coming days/weeks.4 points

Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
A very interesting and informative kickabout yesterday. I was unsure about the starting lineup, but once they settled into the game they gave a good account of themselves. A draw was a fair result, but both sides will feel like they should have won. I felt the hosts edged the first half an hour and had the better of the chances up to then. Stuttgart looked more composed and settled, while we were misplacing a lot of passes. After that we settled down and had the beating of them in one-on-one situations without really threatening the goal too much. We never looked like scoring until we did. Edwards played a little deeper in the Palmer role and made a decent job of it. Hinchy put in another late tackle, he's a red card waiting to happen at the moment. Iopenda looks like a good footballer, and Kouhjar also had some good moments once he'd settled in. I think Jones definitely has what it takes for the no. 10 spot, but would we miss his crossing? Both sides looked toothless in front of goal, and for that reason neither looked like a genuine promotion contender to me. But two or three astute signings really could make a world of difference. Special kudos to the commentary team on the stream, who commentated in English and had really done their homework.4 points

3 pointsThank you for the warm welcome. I’m not entirely @new” - I’ve been absent from this forum for a while but used to regularly contribute to the natch chat but under a duffer t e.mail address and user name. My old account “died” and my e.mail also became defunct. I’ve been supporting Notts for over 60 years, many of those as a season ticket holder, former Patrons Club member, Vice President and I now enjoy home games from the “prawn sandwich” section - in the Directors Suite. For many years I posted on NCM but avoided it for the last 3 or 4 years due to a few posters dictating and taking it over with political threads rather than football related ones. Now cutscenes to have withered on the vine and us no more - so I’m happy to be back here. A bit long winded but that’s my quick intro.3 points- Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham Tommy B

A draw was probably the ideal outcome for both sides. I’ve no idea how Notts performed as I didn’t pay for the stream, but I’m looking forward to the Cardiff pre-season friendly. With trialists on show and the squads being split, it’s not easy to keep momentum, though overall I’d take the draw.3 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County

@theAnticlough Martin did say in his pre match interview that he knows where Notts need new players & he is working with the Notts recruiters to bring them in.3 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
To play away to these strong teams in Germany drawing one, lose by the odd goal in another, is fine. We should 'take it' and build on it. But this is the main bit I'm praying that the club share this assessment, otherwise it could be a long season3 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
Let's begin with the positives. The players have all got valuable minutes in their legs during this three match tour of Germany. Becoming match fit is very important to start the season with & the players are well on their way to that goal. It was nice to see Jodi Jones get some minutes in the second half of this match & he looked sharp. Good to see Notts take the lead in a match & create a few chances too. Stuttgarter were much more to Notts's level so it was easier to judge where Notts actually are. I know that the result of a friendly match is not as important as the performance, but it would have been nice for Notts to have held on to the lead.. I think Rod McDonald did well, as did the trialist Keeper. Jodi did ok when he came on too. Jodi & Will playing in the number 10 AM role, interesting. Being critical, I do think Notts need three or four more players to be a side that can realistically challenge for promotion. I think we need a good striker with a record of scoring goals, an attacking midfielder & a good goalkeeper. . Also, I don't think Martin is anywhere near knowing who his starting 11 will be. By the way, Jatta didn't start for the B team tonight, so he's had no game time with only just over two weeks till the start of the regular season.3 points- Welcome MrWillowTiger

i forgot about the game which is a shame because i would have paid for the stream to see how the game went, but i dont think a draw is a bad outcome. we are getting the minutes into the players legs, fitness levels should be increasing and we come back for the "private" game and cardiff home friendly having had a good run out in Germany. i dont expect notts to win cardiff, but it would be good to see us put lessons learned from this game and the two other german games into practice. the results of pre season games mean little, so i am sure the players are settling into life under martin paterson and for the new signings to get up to speed with the notts way.2 points- Weekly Chat - Monday 14th to Sunday 20th July
i have another 30 minutes to my dinner break, i went to go eat in the cafeteria today. its not that big and does tend to be crowded, so i dont usually go but i wanted to stay on site. its quite nice, cool but looks like it might rain. not that i would complain about that, i have enough about the warm weather so its nice to have a day where its not that bad. i did think about having a walk to the embankment but i want to wait for when notts has the new home shirt as i want to pop in the club shop. 5:30pm finish today, so i look forward to finishing for the day. works been strangely quiet. no chance of it mate, i wanted some independence when i moved out of my mums but i dont mind living alone. i do miss the company. its the first step to true adulthood living in your own space away from your parents.2 points- Weekly Chat - Monday 14th to Sunday 20th July
Hope you have a great break in Derbyshire @Fan of Big Tone, I wonder where you are in the county (I live there) Pissing down here further up north as well. Had to delay the return from our trip, taking my daughter to hospital in the early hours (she'll be fine) but it was sad to see the state of our NHS, everything seems tired. Still, service still good in that she was put on the right track at the time it was really needed. John Shuttleworth is what happened to Jilted John (remember him?) of "Gordon is a moron' fame. One thing I love about the radio series (all on Youtube) is all the references to Derbyshire - he's forever buggering off to Baslow, Hathersage, Snake Pass, Castleton etc and the Lady Bay reservoir of course. It's gentle humour anyone can enjoy, well worth a try.2 points- Connections game

Morning all. Pleased to say that the insect bite on my lower leg hasn't needed me to consult the Doctor this time. It's been raining here since about midday. Ground is quite wet so that's good news. Really pleased with the flowers we bought that are growing very well. Plenty of colour. We put lots of our flowers in pots which make for a nice feature on our patio.2 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
I've just spent my lunch break lurking on the Kickers forum, interesting reading. It's a club that's aiming upwards, but there seems to be little optimism among fans (with a couple even worried about a relegation battle due to their poor form in the friendlies). Others caution that it's only pre-season and you can't read too much into it. So far, so familiar. There are also complaints about a general lack of tempo in their team. Frustrated forum users should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it'll be interesting to see how things unfold. I hope a few of our players who have seen little of the ball so far get their time to shine. I'd like to see us try a 4231 formation as it could suit our squad as it stands. Just go to the payment screen as usual and it'll calculate it for you. Some sites let you pay in EUR or in GBP, in the latter case your card provider converts the currency for you. Just click whichever you feel like, the difference between the two will be pennies.2 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
I imagine that if you pay with a card it will take the equivalent £££s from your account. I hope the team put on a good performance for the travelling fans, they should be getting fitter now and hopefully Martin is beginning to get an idea of what works and what doesn’t. Should be a good game. 🤞2 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
Looking forward to seeing the approach Martin takes for this game. The past two have hopefully informed him of the system we need to play and tactical changes needed during the game. I think that having the nous to make changes, be it formation or individual are a real necessity moving forward this coming season. Also the introduction of players who he knows can alter and make a pronounced difference is paramount to success. All in all tonight's game is the litmus paper highlighting where we are at in preparation for the starting blocks.2 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County

Adjustable desks for standing and sitting are a godsend. The key in RSI is R for Repetitive, and positions are as bad as actions for that - our bodies are designed for movement. Hope you can sort out your issue Chris, and get back to normal.2 points- Should Notts consider having a new Club Captain?
Other than Platt, Bedeau or JJ who else is likely to start every match? Right now those 3 for me are the only other serious candidates. I don’t really have an issue with Palmer being captain right now. Before he joined us in the National League he already had played over 200 matches in the EFL, he’s a lot more experienced than I realised and besides the freak ACL injury he never seems to be injured. I'm not sure the scream and shout approach is as effective these days either, I do think Matt is a tad quieter but when he speaks if what he says is useful and right that is of more value than someone shouting with little substance. I know that Norburn has been a captain at most of his previous clubs but will he be fit enough to start the season as our first-choice CM? It could well be that halfway through the season Robertson and Norburn are our starting midfielders, then we might have a problem.2 points- Weekly Chat - Monday 14th to Sunday 20th July
Heading to London for three days of interviews, so I’ll need to brush up on cricket and tennis. They’re not sports I’ve followed much, but it makes sense to understand the background of the people I’ll be talking to, it’ll help with the writing. I’d rather not come across as clueless; they’re just not my cup of tea, but I’ll give it a proper go and try to make them engaging. Might be a bit quieter here until I’m back in Manchester, depending on how much prep I end up doing. Nice to see the daily chats still ticking along.2 points- Weekly Chat - Monday 14th to Sunday 20th July
On holiday, so one of those days nursing a hangover, which when you're older you really can't be doing with ☹️ It took only 4 pints! What a lightweight. The muggy weather, and difficult sleeping make it worse. Still got a thick head and it's late into the afternoon. But I had a thick head yesterday, and will still have one tomorrow, next week, next year, so I shouldn't blame the drink.2 points- Welcome TheAnticlough
2 pointsCheers Clifton, Yeah it does seem really friendly, and it'll be great to carry on in that vein. Had a branch of my family at Clifton, Farnborough Road and remember visiting so definitely good to be reminded of that! Let's enjoy the season, got a feeling it's going to have a better climax than the last one 😉2 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
If things aren’t going well, I hope Martin Paterson has the courage to change the formation. Playing out from the back needs the right set-up, and sticking to three centre backs might not work every time. In past seasons we didn’t have much choice, but this time we’ve got the players to switch to four at the back. It could help the team play with more balance and control.2 points- Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
Getting Championship clubs to Meadow Lane, or arranging friendlies at their grounds, is never easy. It depends on their pre-season plans and how much they want a competitive test. It would be great to attract a few though. German football is treated very seriously. Their approach is about discipline, with every player expected to defend and attack. It’s quite different to how we play, with our game working more in phases and structure. The last two friendlies were useful. They gave a clear view of who’s coming along well and who might still need more time. These games aren’t just for fitness, they can show real progress. I think this upcoming match will be tighter. It’s my first proper look at German football, and it’s not bad at all, so long as you’re not expecting miracles. I respect how Martin Paterson treats each game properly. That said, he should also use it to learn just how far apart we are from some of these sides. It’ll be a lesson, not just a test. It’s shaping up to be an interesting match. I reckon we’ll learn a fair bit more about the team and where we’re heading.2 pointsThis leaderboard is set to London/GMT+01:00 - Welcome MrWillowTiger
