  14. Notts County's board of directors have taken the time to thank the black and white army for their support ahead of the 2021/2022 National League season. This comes on the back of the magpies' announcing via the clubs social media that over 3,000 season tickets had been sold on 23rd of July. Six new arrivals have been signed this summer, with the Notts head coach Ian Burchnall looking to add further depth to his squad ahead of the league campaign. "We would like to place on record our immense gratitude to our fans, a statement read via the official clubs' website. "For backing the club with such strong season ticket sales this summer. "Over the weekend, 2021-22 sales surpassed our total figure for the 2019-20 campaign – including half-season tickets. "Which is fantastic, especially as there is more than a month to go before our first home match. We also understand that, for various reasons, a season ticket isn’t a viable purchase for everyone, but we’re thrilled with how the entire fanbase continues to support us in every way possible. " Notts County season tickets are now on general sale, after fans' have taken to renewing their 2019/2020 - after a whole season without being able to buy a season ticket due to COVID-19. "Shirt sales, for example, have been very strong, and it’s been great to see so many of the new designs on show at our pre-season friendlies. "Everyone at the club is working hard to prepare for the new campaign, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you back to Meadow Lane for what we hope and believe will be an exciting and successful season." 17. MATCH PREVIEW | IAN BURCHNALL SPEAKS AHEAD OF TELFORD TRIP
  18. Notts County's new box-to-box midfielder, Matt Palmer believes the club are going places after signing a 2-year-deal. Palmer sees the move in the short term as gaining promotion back to the Football League, but has been attracted to the long term vision of the magpies' set by the Reedtz brothers and head coach, Ian Burchnall. Having joined Notts County after being released by Swindon Town, who had been relegated to League Two in their last campaign - the midfielder is keen to settle within a club that is aiming to do more than just staying within a league. Speaking about having joined Notts, Matt Palmer said: "I've looked at two ways, obviously, I wanted to come and join a place that has a long term project in place. "I came and spoke to the gaffer, and he obviously explained the way he wants to play "The vision of this football club, the vision of the owners and stuff like that, which was really appealing to me." the midfielder added. "I think it was a decision where I saw that I go somewhere for maybe a short term year, maybe somewhere they're just trying to stay in the league "Whereas I think this club is trying to go places, obviously the short term objective is to get promotion, and then I think after that there is a long term project, which is what I want to be a part of "Like I said the main objective this season is get promotion, but then it's a club that could probably go on again, get themselves up the league" Before explaining: "There are teams in the championship like Luton, who have done back to back promotions. "So yeah, when I came in and spoke to the gaffer, I was really impressed. "I spoke to a few people about the way he wants to play football, and it's perfect for me. I think he'll get the best out of me. hopefully it'll work both ways." Palmer added. Notts County continue to strengthen their team ahead of the 2021/22 National League season, having already signed major coups such as Kyle Cameron, Joel Taylor and Aaron Nemane. "It was sort of a no-brainer to want to be a part of that, like I said other clubs maybe with what's happened with COVID, that they're maybe just trying to try to stay in the league rather than actually do something. "So I think when I was at Burton Albion, they put together a project, and it got them in to the championship "I played in the championship with them, so this is something that when I spoke to the manager, you could see that he wants to sort of go along them sort of lines, that's why I wanted to join. "It's about getting in minutes, and hopefully I can get some in on Saturday and then build up from there." Are you a member of the Pride of Nottingham community? 19. FIRST INTERVIEW | MATT PALMER ARRIVES AT THE LANE
  20. Notts County has continued to strengthen their promotion chasing team with the signing of experienced Football League midfielder Matt Palmer. The 26-year-old had been made available for a free transfer after leaving Swindon Town last season. Having appeared more than 200 times within the Football League, Palmer arrives at Meadow Lane on a 2-year-deal. Notts County head coach, Ian Burchnall said: "We’ve brought in two very talented young midfielders in Ed Francis and Frank Vincent this summer, "So adding someone of Matt’s experience will give us great balance in the central area" He added. "Matt’s played more than 50 games in the Championship, around 80 in League One and nearly 100 in League Two "He brings a lot of know-how to the squad while, at the age of 26, he still has plenty to offer in terms of development and improvement. We’re looking at him playing a similar role to Jake Reeves towards the end of last season. "He could play deep, but we see him more as a box-to-box midfielder who can contribute to the attacking side of the game." Ian Burchnall has described Palmer's arrival as being 'perfect for us'. "Matt’s got a great eye for a forward pass and will also contribute a lot when we’re looking to retain possession as he’s really comfortable with the ball and very competent technically. "We’ve still got Lamine Kaba Sherif, William Hondermarck and Kyle Bennett on trial, and they’re all showing promise" said the head coach. "We have the capacity to strengthen further in the midfield area should we wish to." Join in with the Pride of Nottingham community, as fans discuss the arrival of Matt Palmer. 21. Notts County has confirmed the arrival of former Manchester City and Torquay United attacking wide man Arron Nemane on a two-year-deal. The French born 23-year-old winger arrives at Meadow Lane after the magpies successfully agreed compensation with Torquay to acquire his services. He joins former Plainmoor team-mate Kyle Cameron, who also joined Notts after opting to start a fresh challenge. Notts County head coach, Ian Burchnall said: "Aaron is one of the quickest players in the league, "He’s very good one-against-one and can play as a winger in a 3-4-3, as a wing back or even as a number 10. He’s a different type of wide player to what we’ve got at the moment. "Aaron is direct in his running and likes to get in behind to stretch the play. He’ll add something different to our attacking patterns and will be particularly useful when we’re up against teams who are defending with a low block as we’ll need players with pace and skill to open them up." He added. "He suffered an injury towards the end of last season and, while he’s put that behind him now, he’s going to focus on some gym work initially before joining up with the boys on the grass and being in contention for any friendlies." Nemane believes he brings creative flair to the Notts squad, with his direct attacking player which sees him use his speed and skill to cause opposition players trouble. "I’m as comfortable playing Maidenhead away as I was playing at Real Madrid in the Youth Champions League, It was a good experience playing against massive teams." Aaron Nemane said. "I’m here now, and I’ve adapted to it, we played Notts three times last season and I like their style. They struck me as a very good side, and it’s a massive club, so it was a no-brainer for me to come here. "I’m not far off, I just need to keep working in the gym and then hopefully I’ll be back to full fitness very soon." He added. "I can’t wait to get on the ball, take players on and create chances. I want to add more goals to my game, along with assists, and that’s what I’m going to try and do this season. I’ll do my best wherever the manager puts me, but I’m comfortable out wide and in more central positions. "We’ll just have to wait and see! I’ve played with Ed quite a few times when he played up the age groups at City, he’s technically gifted and will definitely be a good addition to the team." 22. Notts County has confirmed the signing of 21-year-old, holding midfielder Ed Francis. The magpies latest recruit arrives at Meadow Lane on a two-year-deal, after being released by League Two side Harrogate Town. Francis is a former product of the Manchester City academy having signed his first deal with the Premier League club aged just six-years-old. Notts County head coach, Ian Burchnall said: "Ed’s time at City gave him a tremendous education, "He arrives here with great pedigree and experience of playing with some outstanding talent. He progressed through the ranks as a left-sided centre-back but felt, at around 6ft, he probably wasn’t quite tall enough to make it at the top in that role – hence his adaptation into a holding midfielder." He added. "It’s the position Michael Doyle has played his entire career "Doyler’s had a good look at him. He’s keen to work closely with Ed and I think he can add a lot to his game by passing on some of the smaller details. In the role we want Ed to play, you’re the pivot of the whole team." Before further explaining: "You have to understand space, where to position yourself to receive the ball and the defensive areas to cover. "You’re also responsible for dictating the play, so it’s a hugely important position. "We feel Ed ticks all the boxes to do a great job for us. Positionally he’s very, very good, he’s comfortable on the ball and has a lovely left foot – as well as a good physical presence."
