  1. Good evening, Hope you are all well. I thought your away following was excellent yesterday but you were given little to enthuse over. It made me smile when your were cheering back passes to your own keeper culminating in our second goal. Previous post mentions Scott Robertson who seemed to just run around whilst in posession without any real purpose. Generally sideways and back. We have been playing like that for seasons ironically starting under Luke Williams. Our demise this season began at Meadow Lane when our then manager "bigged" you up so much that our unbeaten start would inevitably end. We have sunk slowly to what is probably going to be our lowest ever league finish. Having said that we put together our best team performance for ages yesterday but you still showed up our frailties and could (should?) easily have got something from the match. It is what it is and let's all hope for better times next season. Best wishes, Mickey
  2. Just think of those of us living in the Tory heartlands. Have never had a Labour M.P. in my lifetime. Wiltshire is disintegrating and its county town arguably the worst in the country. 5 sites proposed for development along southern boundary and government wants to ease plannig regulation. Crisis? What crisis? Take your pick Boris.
  3. He probably primarily means us. Your recruitment policy made him feel right at home.
  4. Good evening Joe, Best wishes to all. You may recall how well Swindon Town played for the majority of last season: our doubling you comprehensively doing you no favours at all. Things went well up to Easter but then Mark Cooper began his policy of severe squad rotation and lost all impetus. It was generally thought that he snatched Play Offs from the jaws of automatic promotion. Despite his policy of resting players he started at Wembley with a marginally fit Nathan Thompson who, in the first two minutes gave away a free kick which he failed to defend, led to the opening goal and he was stretchered off. The match became ritual humiliation. Mark brought on Andy Williams for his last twenty minutes in a Swindon shirt but left young striker Jermaine Hylton on the bench. We had an exceptionally good squad last season but consensus is that it was put together by Chairman Lee Power not Mark. The squad was dismantled in the summer with many players moving up the pyramid. This year's squad is much weaker and has been injury ravaged. Mark seemed to "lose the plot" early on: he seemed to frequently use players out of position and not use available young talent. He said that in the position he was in we would not win until injured players returned so he expected to lose the next three or four matches. Then he was sacked. I do not dislike Mark Cooper but last season is arguably the best of a generally patchy managerial career. If he becomes your permanent manager I wish him well. Talking the job is all very well but results alone count. Having said all this we have given Luke Williams a five year head coach contract and we are hanging on by our nails: would Mark have fared worse and achieved relegation?
  5. Who am I to criticise Mark when we have conceded 10 in last two matches.
  6. Mark Cooper has a history of allowing the concession of ridiculously bad goals
  7. Hope all goes well for you today. Not really sure about Mark Cooper. It was this time last year that he started choosing crazy line ups and a lot of us think he drew play off humiliation from the jaws of automatic promotion. It is generally accepted that last year's playing squad was down to the chairman and it is arguable that Mark made the most of it. This season started abysmally and we had a very large injury list ... but Mark said basically that we would lose the next few games until some players returned. Defeatist? I think that is why he was sacked. Nevertheless I wish him well and hope he can bring a smile to your faces!
  8. Do you think this result was good enough given Paul Hart's "bounce" effect and Scunthorpe's league position? When Paul Hart was our caretaker manager he appeared passionless and watched the match with folded arms. Did he seem more involved for you?
  9. Good report Joe. I wondered whether to pick you up on John Swift but you stopped me in my tracks. Do you think Notts. were tired because the looked as if they were wearing pyjamas. What's wrong with your proper kit when there is no colour clash? Sorry, I forgot, Commercial Departments need the revenue.
  10. I telephone Swindon Town office on a Sunday to check availability of FA Cup tickets and Lou Macari answered the phone. I gibbered and he laughed.
